I don't think so, isn't it like the reverse? it would be easier to hide your money in bitcoin, government would not use bitcoin since they have full control on fiat as what was mentioned here so many times and in bitcoin they have no control.

Most governments do not have issues with people spending bitcoins, just don't expect them to make it the official currency in place of fiat any time soon.

Leaving of bitcoin system for the preference of citizens must be a big help from government like not enforcing any ban on using any bitcoin start-ups. Because that had happened in many countries like Russia.

There is no need to expect government to announce bitcoin as an official currency from whatever country you are from. Without the any help from any governments, bitcoin has the capability to become mainstream of adoptions.

Must be true. Because expecting government to recognize bitcoin as the official payment system has no basis as government and banks never want their power goes decentralized. In many countries governments are thinking about legalize all the activities of bitcoin by providing licenses and surveillance over them. But still, bitcoin can have its own freedom regardless of any decisions by governments.

I really don't see how bitcoin becomes illegal when the fact is this is not regulated by the government, in our country this is actually not widely recognized but wise people are using bitcoins to transact fast online and invest at the same time and I am one of them.

This may be a deliberate choice to do nothing. Why? On the one hand, while Bitcoin is used by a relatively small group of people, the costs incurred with an effort to regulate it may exceed the returns obtained therewith (e.g. taxes). On the other hand, if Bitcoin dies tomorrow on its own (which is possible), the government will be laughed at (read made responsible) for wasting time and resources on something insignificant and unimportant...

So the chosen policy of turning a blind eye to Bitcoin seems to be rational and reasonable

I heard in Thailand, the bitcoin is not legal. That was a year or two ago. Maybe it is legal there now.

technology is challenging government everyday, we are at 2016 and this is already so cool we have 90% of our work done on technology and this is exactly what those old man had ever dreamed of. we are not only using the technology but also developing it our self so the more you know the more powerful you will be

Bitcoin was created for there is no inverention from third side in this situation is goverment and bank so i think goverment just adopted bitcoins technology and make  their own, i imagine there is no fiat anymore and money has converted to cryptocurency and each country have their own.

If banks/government are adopting bitcoin is then the purpose of having bitcoin will fade away somewhat. Yes, what is the benefit again using a crypto currency which is controlled by your government. For a situation like you imagined, each and every citizen must have Internet access to replace all the fiat into crypto currency which is not possible still in many countries.

Yes, there are a lot of difference between government recognizes bitcoin and governments create their own crypto currency. Only bitcoin will remain as decentralized whereas any crypto currency issued by any bank or government would be the crypto currency format of fiat. That crypto currency has no real use similar to bitcoins.

I guess there is a difference (and a huge one at that) between not being legal, that is, not officially legalized, and being flat-out illegal, that is, officially banned under the penalty of fine or imprisonment...

The first case is evidently is a gray zone where government basically steps aside and everyone is on their own

it is not only the problem of your country most of the countries of  the world are facing these problems in present time actually the problem is that government have to think about it about its  merits and demirits and if bitcoin has no bad effect on the economy or on any  other sector of the state only then government will allow bitcoin to be trade as fiat currency or to legalize it.

Bitcoin will not help to reduce money laundering due to its anonymous nature, we have to integrate the KYC policy in order to determine that people transaction and using the blockchain, with the current set up which is no 3rd party involve in the transaction it would be easy for us to launder money in the blockchain and the government is actually sees that as a red signal in their radar.

Local governments are losing the battle against globalisation,this is obvious.

They are trying to control something they don`t understand.

Bitcoin is the largest cryprocurrency and it has no central bank.

Goverments are smart enough now, they dont need to control bitcoin when they could be studying blockchain and make their own version of bitcoin. With this they could create new money out of thin air and switch everything into digital form, truly malicious against bitcoin

I guess there is no need for a government version of Bitcoin. They already have fiat which is mostly digital all along and can be created out of thin air...

Don't get decoupled from reality. If they can control it "somehow" (how exactly?), people won't use it unless they are forced to use it as they are forced to use fiat. So what's the difference? Otherwise, they would be shooting themselves in the foot, with a canon (what Bitcoin already does, i.e. shoots them right in the head, with a traumatic gun though)...

They cant atleast for now however they will be wanting to control it so if you think they are sitting down until the answers come to them then it wont be that way, they are currently could be doing research on how to control it or atleast let it die without letting people know that they did it

Yes you got the point. I believe there is no need of any government to recognize bitcoin at the same time there is no need of any country specific cryptocurrency by any government or bank. Because all of these might lead to affect the real purpose of using currencies similar to bitcoin.
We love bitcoin for the purpose of having many freedom over our traditional fiats. I personally do not want to give up that.

If Bitcoin has to die, it won't be due to or because of some covert government effort. That can be said with surety. Though it can't be said that they won't be happy if anything like that does actually happen...

I don't think Bitcoin bothers them so much that they will take some drastic measures against it, either covert or in the open

Governments are unable to recognize that who own bitcoin and who earn it and how they earn it and where they transact it and for what they transact, so for the governments it is not easy to reduce the number of scammers and crimes with bitcoin, but if they provide their own wallet with all the personal details then they will be able to find that which address is related to whom

It's 2 years later now... Taxation is not the answer.  BTC is here to stay in a way like never before.  Hopefully, it will continue to be the beginning of eliminating corruption in government.
