Everything seems to be going electronic right now because of computer and smart phone technology. Finance is going to have to be electronic in the future just like communication (mail, text) and information (internet). Bitcoin could fit into that equation.

Governments will not adopt Bitcoin in order to keep up with the world that is becoming more and more digital. It's more likely for them to incorporate their fiat into something similar as Bitcoin, but then the version created and managed by the government to retain its control over the market.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Most governments do not have issues with people spending bitcoins, just don't expect them to make it the official currency in place of fiat any time soon.
Leaving of bitcoin system for the preference of citizens must be a big help from government like not enforcing any ban on using any bitcoin start-ups. Because that had happened in many countries like Russia.

There is no need to expect government to announce bitcoin as an official currency from whatever country you are from. Without the any help from any governments, bitcoin has the capability to become mainstream of adoptions.

You cannot ascertain the future with just bitcoin that is still in the early phase, we have time needed to test bitcoin's stability and through time if good things always happen it will increase its stability overtime which would only help the community to be popular.

Government will never interfere with bitcoin. The simple reason behind this is bitcoin is also a financial haven. While as a whole, bitcoin is subversive and may scare banksters, banksters themselves want to protect their assets. And they'll put their money on the safest place bitcoin.

Actually governments are already interfering with bitcoins. Look at Nepal banning bitcoins.

Governments don't like financial havens because they can't control that taxes are being paid.

I think one of the reason why government still exist is because of it's capability to adapt and adopt technology and changes.  When time comes that bitcoin has been used by several merchants and it's local people, government won't be blind and not see the potential of it.  So Government will adopt the new currency in a way that it will not affect it's system thatmuch.  It will adapt to the current trends and needs of its local community to make a better outcome while using Bitcoin.
i think the government is aware the power of bitcoin but they want bitcoin stay under their control as they did to the bank.

If the government accept and support bitcoin, i'm sure it will be a good news to bitcoin. Bitcoin become popular and many people start using bitcoin.

The sharing economy is just going to continue to grow, and governments will be challenged to understand and manage its implications while embracing its benefits. However, governments will be at a significant disadvantage if they wait too long and newer technologies and markets will have already been developed that do not follow traditional models. Think of the following: Uber is the world’s largest taxi service and owns no cars. Airbnb provides lodging yet does not own real estate.

How will local governments adapt to these new ways of doing business that are disrupting traditional business models? All we know now is that governments are a long way from even contemplating and accepting this new reality.

Local governments are losing the battle against globalisation, this is obvious.

They are trying to control something they don`t understand.

Bitcoin is the largest cryprocurrency and it has no central bank. Grin

Goverments are smart enough now, they dont need to control bitcoin when they could be studying blockchain and make their own version of bitcoin. With this they could create new money out of thin air and switch everything into digital form, truly malicious against bitcoin

I guess there is no need for a government version of Bitcoin. They already have fiat which is mostly digital all along and can be created out of thin air...

The blockchain technology doesn't add anything to the level of control they have already reached with fiat

as different countries have different attitude toward bitcoin some consider it as legal currency while other consider it as illegal, but other countries have no statement about bitcoin, some countries are thinking about it to legalize it or not. but still i am hopeful that in future all countries of the world are going to turn legalize bitcoin.

Governments & bitcoins, future will be interesting. Many countries still waiting with laws about bitcoins, probably they still don't know how to tax it, or to control it. We still didn't see any real moves in that direction, looks like they still investigating and monitoring situation.
How they enter into bitcoins, that will define bitcoin in the future. Some will give support, some will try to ban it, in both ways people will use it as long as they have some profit from bitcoins.
Can we expect governments to unite and make some new coin?
Honestly almost all people here dont want to involve in government because they want to be anonymous or they dont want to have a tax while they are transacting bitcoin to another wallet..

Dear friend, nobody will ask as what we wish. That is government, nobody asked me do I wish ID, to pay tax for house, for car, for many other things. They will create a law and if someone doesn't listen they will arrest that person.
People who doesn't obey are criminals, no matter if its good or bad law. Same will be with bitcoins, and cause of that I said future will be interesting, different governments will create different laws. Its not gonna be same for everyone, like its not now.

I think those governments which will like to run with the world development will adopt bitcoin and will continue their journey in the digital system of the world, and it is sure that those governments who will contribute in the development of bitcoin will be more rich, successful and powerful countries.

bitcoin is going to be the future of online/digital system of businesses, then it will be compulsory that all of the governments approve bitcoin as a legal currency for their state affairs, in the coming future everyone will rely on bitcoin and they all will prefer to use bitcoin because of its attractive features and for that reason government will take some action for its approval.

In time governments will find out they can't go without bitcoin the same way we guys have already know.
The larger the user base is getting the more shops, companies and government will eventually accept it.

yes that is a fact. i will like to add that i am living in such area where even the government have no idea about bitcoin, they have yet not given any statement about bitcoin, once i withdraw some income from bitcoin but first i change it in to fiat currency  i think i used ok pay for my transaction but when the money reached to bank and i went bank to withdraw my money the bank needed to verify about the income source so i gave them some statement that my income source is bitcoin, they immediately asked me that what is bitcoin, so i can say that my government have still no idea about bitcoin.

technology is challenging government everyday, we are at 2016 and this is already so cool we have 90% of our work done on technology and this is exactly what those old man had ever dreamed of. we are not only using the technology but also developing it our self so the more you know the more powerful you will be

Bitcoin was created for there is no inverention from third side in this situation is goverment and bank so i think goverment just adopted bitcoins technology and make  their own, i imagine there is no fiat anymore and money has converted to cryptocurency and each country have their own.
If banks/government are adopting bitcoin is then the purpose of having bitcoin will fade away somewhat. Yes, what is the benefit again using a crypto currency which is controlled by your government. For a situation like you imagined, each and every citizen must have Internet access to replace all the fiat into crypto currency which is not possible still in many countries.

Don't get decoupled from reality. If they can control it "somehow" (how exactly?), people won't use it unless they are forced to use it as they are forced to use fiat. So what's the difference? Otherwise, they would be shooting themselves in the foot, with a canon (what Bitcoin already does, i.e. shoots them right in the head, with a traumatic gun though)...

And no difference either
