Guys, Gabe provided me with the wallets that Bryce had and I've been working on things since late last week. I wanted to post an update here, but didn't want to before I'd had a chance to move the funds into new wallets and completely under our control again.

Basically I've been staking a variety of wallets (some from the project and my own as well) in rotation to try to keep the network moving.  Before I started this on Friday the network was frozen for almost a month because there were no wallets available with mature coins; this is why some people noticed transactions they'd sent a week ago suddenly went through.

What we need is for more transactions to happen and for people to leave their wallets staking as much as possible over the next few days until more people get wallets and start using them.  So please open your wallet and stake.

Anyone who PMs me a Bitseeds payment address in the next 24 hours or so will get a small Bitseeds thank you tip for your support (and to get more transactions happening).  Please note, this is not the big giveaway with the sequence of videos that we've been planning - that's coming in the near future.

We're going to keep an eye on the network and post updates here and on Twitter regularly over the next few days and as long as the network continues smoothly, then we aim to start releasing the sequence of videos and doing the big giveaway this coming Monday.

But in the meantime, please open your wallet and stake and PM me an address (do not post in the thread as it is against site rules!) and I'll send a little Bitseeds your way.  Thanks for everyone's patience!

Thanks for the updates, Gabe and worth - they are appreciated!  And happy birthday...

If the chain is moving, I'll gladly move some XSEED back to my wallet for staking - any idea how long a transfer might take now, just so I'm not expecting one thing and getting something vastly different?

Same here. All my XSEED is on Bittrex, although I did notice today that my previous XSEED buy/sell orders are gone, leading me to think perhaps the XSEED in my account is the new version. Am I correct?

Also, hello Bitseeds community! Looking forward to this coin's future!

It's currently only traded on Bittrex for the time being. Yes, Bittrex is using the current version.

Delong, withdrawals can take a few minutes to hours depending on how the network is running. I've done a bunch of tests and it depends on my timing. If I send when a wallet is minting new blocks it's spendable within a few minutes, but if I send in a lull it can take hours or until the next day before a bunch of new blocks get minted and then it confirms rapidly.  Makes me think of stop-and-go traffic. Smiley

While deposits and withdrawals are a little slow, the more people stake and help out the better the system will work.  I'm currently staking three wallets at a time out of several in rotation but I can't do it all myself so the network stalls out for a few hours then moves again for several, then stalls.  It'll even out once more people are involved.

Everyone please post on your social media accounts - Twitter, Facebook, etc. - to get people to stake.  I've sent out some tips to people who PMed me; I'll send more out to anyone who sends me an address (limit one per person).

Let's keep the ball rolling and get some momentum behind it, guys!

Thanks, Steskoff!  I just sent you a little more at the same address to say thanks for chipping in.

Reminder: we're looking for people to open your wallets and leave them staking.  The network is running again and we need your help to let it build some momentum and run consistently and smoothly.  PM me a payment address and I'll send you a little Bitseeds as a thank-you.

For those new to Bitseeds: it's a project to help fund the mission of The Rainforest Foundation, the international charity co-founded by Sting in the 1980s.  The project has the full backing of the Rainforest Foundation and we're going to be reaching out beyond the cryptocurrency community to the larger world with the project.

I have been teaching computers and technology for 20 years as a professional and I've created a complete course to teach everything a newbie needs to know about downloading and using the Bitseeds wallet (or any crypto). We'll start releasing the course one video a day starting soon (probably this coming Monday) and doing a big giveaway of Bitseeds along with the video releases.

The project will get crypto into the hands of regular people, including people who wouldn't otherwise be interested, by appealing to people's natural desire to improve the world and protect the environment.

I grew up in rural Upstate New York and spent most of my free time out in the woods as a kid and I have a dream to buy wooded rural property here where I live now (Big Island of Hawaii) and put a conservation easement on it to protect the remaining old-growth forest we have here.

So the mission of the Rainforest Foundation is one that's important to me, and I know that by getting new people interested in crypto by using it to help protect the environment (while teaching them how to use it) gives Bitseeds a potential greater than most any other crypto.  That's why I got involved and I hope you all can join in, too!

Thanks everyone for the bday wishes!

Everyone keep on staking, we're still figuring everything out. Sorry if this has been taking long then expected, but finding a competent dev that see's the vision and wants to join us hasn't been an easy thing. We do have some awesome prospects that Worth and I are going to be speaking with this weekend.

It's really nice to see the network has begun minting new blocks nice and smoothly over the last couple of days since I "nursed it back to health" over last weekend.  Keep up the good work, guys - keep staking your wallets and if you haven't PMed me with your Bitseeds payment address, make sure you do and I'll send you a little thank-you!

I have my wallet staking but I find it drops all connections after 12-16 hours being open. Is there any plans to release a new wallet in the near future to get the last, remaining Bryce stench off this project? I'm running the Windows wallet on WinXP SP3.

Thanks for staking, Jubes. Just sent you a little more as a thanks.

I have three wallets open at any given time (out of several in rotation) and check them regularly and while I was seeing periods where none of them would stake and the network would stall in a similar time frame (12-16 hours) I've never seen them drop the connection to the network like that.  I wonder if maybe it's something your ISP is doing?

Gabe and I are planning on interviewing a couple of devs this weekend to make an entirely new wallet with some fixes and improvements including reinstating Proof of Work with a low interest rate. The idea is to create it clean with no code left from Bryce.

i just had a strange experience of bittrex rejecting my fresh new address.

it was generated from a daemon using current github source
    "version" : "v1.1.0.0-g",

--

mayhaps when my coins confirm i can send some to that address from the said daemon and see what happens ..

Don't use the GitHub, I think that still has the code from the original launch and I'm not sure Gabe has access to that GitHub account since the original dev parted ways.  Here are the current wallets

http://sourceforge.net/projects/bitseedsofficialrepository/files/

We're working on a new version with a new dev with added features, but using the wallets from the above link should give you no problems with Bittrex.  We will either update the existing GitHub if we have access, or will create a new one. Not sure why the old dev suddenly switched to Sourceforge - I'm more of a GitHub fan, personally.

Now that I think about it, we probably should create a new thread since the OP can't be updated after Bitcointalk apparently locked Gabe out of that account.

Sorry about the problems. They're the result of the original dev that was hired who abandoned the project abruptly and attempted to "destroy" it in the process (his words). We are hiring a new dev and one of the first priorities will be getting the explorer working and everything (including the source) back on GitHub as I mentioned earlier.

We're already interviewing a couple people this weekend, but if you have dev suggestions feel free to PM me or GabeBitSeedsReal.

I hate to say "I told you so".........

NAH<.........I love to say "I told you so"

Pump, dump, go away.......  repeat

So what is the business model here?

1) You are issuing a crypto coin, with a huge premine for yourselves, but you are not going to sell the premine, just keep it to generate interest and spend that.

2) Then you host the blockchain and mining on a server that costs $$$ every month.

3) you are then going to plant 1 billion trees?

Merchant adoption is driven through a custom remittance system being developed by Coin.co (http://coin.co). 1.25% of every transaction processed is sent to the BitSeeds Custody Address. Merchants will be presented with a yearly accounting and requisite paperwork for tax purposes.

Every transaction completed through this process is a charitable tax deduction for the accepting merchant.

4) are you registered as a charity?  What is your IRS non-profit number?

So........... where is the money coming from for you to pay for the servers, future development of the coin, and the trees?

This is a generation 1 coin, that is outdated already.  Crypto coins like Crypti and NXT are offering applications and DAPPs secured by the block chain, which gives them a real world use, other than trading for fiat or other alt-coins.

I dont see a sustainable business model here.

I'm all for patience, and I don't like it when people just post "I told you so" on various threads for kicks...

However, it would have been nice to get an update on how the meetings with potential devs went.  I think you posted that you were meeting with them the weekend of July 11th, and that's the last we've heard of it, at least on this channel.

Alternatively, if there's a Slack channel or something that has more information, perhaps post that here (apologies if I missed it in the thread)?

I'm not planning to get rid of my XSEED in the near future, but it would be encouraging to hear from you and Gabe more frequently, so we know whether things are in the works or if the project is dying a slow death, or something else altogether.

Thanks!
