I'm getting this error message every time I try to launch the wallet:

I would save your wallet.dat file elsewhere, such as a flashdrive, if you already have it there, make a new copy, just in case. Then go to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\GoldPieces and delete everything but the wallet.dat file. Then try opening it up again. It will have to download the blockchain again.

If that doesn't work. I suggest, uninstalling it. Then reinstalling it.

If you reinsintall, put the copy of your wallet.dat file back in the folder (while the wallet is closed), open it up, and let it sync up again.

I dug through some of the earlier posts and found two more nodes.  Don't know definitely whether they're what did the trick, but it finally started staking once I'd added them - in case it's of any help to anyone here they are:

The game currently has over 1000 players!

I've been in touch with Inkha (the original GP developer) and together we should be making sure GP has a lot more games and projects soon.

I am also looking for a community manager here on bitcointalk that can answer questions, and post updates about GP developments like new games etc.

Yes behind the scenes Inkha and I are in discussions about some very exciting online MMO GP RPG games coming soon.

Moving forward I will be online a lot more often so expect more exciting GP news soon!

My own GP-sponsored game Captain Disaster in Death Has A Million Stomping Boots (not an online game using the currency - rather one sponsored with some GP given to help with production costs) is progressing nicely, albeit rather slower than we'd hoped due to real-life issues and lack of time for myself and my co-dev.  However we are getting ever closer to getting the thing finished and release - it's been a long journey and there is still some way to go, but the GP sponsorship definitely helped - I was able to exchange some to Amazon gift vouchers via BTC which one of my musicians accepted as part-payment!

I'm expecting a new test build this week and want to get a new screenshot pack uploaded soon (we've updated a lot of the original graphics), and then within a fairly short period of time I'd really like to get a decent trailer put together and sent to the adventure game sites.  Also our dev blog rather needs updating... too many things, too little time, but it's on my to-do list!  Unfortunately like most indie devs I simply don't have much time to devote to my gamedev, and my two young children seem intent on keeping things that way - but though progress is slow, it is happening.

Actually there's been a demo around for a long time - which can really be regarded as a "beta" I guess since one of the reasons development is taking so long (apart from a string of real-life issues with health, house moves, expanding families and secular work) is that we have been upgrading many elements that were initially put into the game as we go.  The old demo (winner of the Best Demo Award at the AGS Awards 2012) gives you a good taste of the game style, puzzle types and silly humour though.  You can download it HERE.
