ROKOS flavors Initial Setup

How to burn the ROKOS .img to the SDcard: http://rokos-flavors.space/burn_sdcard.html

Steps for first boot

Raspberry Pi 2, 3, 4: https://rokos-flavors.space/rokos_corepi.html

Welcome to the ROKOS flavors • Crypto Full node OS Desktop

Final steps / Cryptocurrencies

a) Go to Menu > Blockchain and Click on your Favorite Cryptocurrency Wallet or node.

This will open the Cryptocurrency wallet with the option to select where we will be saving the chain.

*For BTC and most cryptocurrencies the initial sync will take some days, wallets are fully usable after being fully Synchronized.

b) Always remember to make constant backups of your wallets and save them in USB or external media.

Use your Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies wallets to plug HW and mine or to stake on Proof of Stake and to Send and Receive Cryptocurrencies.
Become a full node and support the Cryptocurrency network of your choice, develop new applications, etc...
The limit is your imagination.

Important Security Notice:

*) Remember to create a backup for your Wallets, you can use the wallets to create them and save in different folders on a USB device.
You should ALWAYS have a backup of your wallet, Pine64+, Raspberry Pi and IoT Hardware, Debian and ROKOS Software are under development hence not responsible for missuses, electrical or compatibility issues that might cause a loss of information. It is as secure as one's ability to take care for it, same as a computer, so always have a backup of your wallets on an external device.

*) Some people tend to recommend getting a 128Gb MicroSD HC (High speed) , at the same time it does work, We do not recommend this solution, as microSD cards tend to get corrupted by the number of overwrites, to ensure the best functionality and security you should use an external HDD/USB storage device to store the chain.

You can start testing and developing new integration with your favorite Cryptocurrency Tech for your IoT projects.

Thanks, feel free to report any feedback / suggestions , so we can take them in account for the future building of the v2.

Is the current wallet exclusive to this project or will it be able to get another wallet or wallets? that would be great!

Thanks, feel free to report any feedback / suggestions , so we can take them in account for the future building of the v2.

Is the current wallet exclusive to this project or will it be able to get another wallet or wallets? that would be great!

The system can hold any other wallet as well, as it comes with the dev tools integrated should be really easy to compile any other wallet that you would like to use in the system, the down side of it is to wait for a new chain to synch (which can take even 8-12 hrs on some chains or more with bigger ones) Hence the advantage of downloading the OS with updated Wallet chains (in this version with OKCash integrated and updated chain)

So, yes, This OS is friendly and should ease the use/compiling of other cryptocurrency wallets as well.

For the V2 version we could hold a contest later or continue to watch the feedback so we could integrate more wallets with synched chains.

Looks like a good idea, but seems technical for someone who wants a plug-n-stake unit.
Can the wallets/blockchains be pre-installed/synched??

There is nothing simpler than this, you just have to download the OS image,

burn it to your SD card, (like you would normally do with any image for a raspberry device)

and start your new ROKOS Staking device.

You could even ignore the instructions, but then you would not have the maximum security on your system,
hence we better provide them for optimal use.

Quote
Can the wallets/blockchains be pre-installed/synched??

Yes, This first version comes with an already installed and synched OKCash wallet /Chain,
(and you can easily compile your other currencies wallets)
In next versions we will include more currencies installed and synched.

b) Type:    sudo raspi-config    (This will get us to the config menu)
c) Expand the file system by selecting the proper option.
d) Allow booting to desktop (StartX) by selecting the proper option.
e) Set up your Time Zone by selecting the proper option.
f) Exit and restart the system (It will restart on exit)

Welcome to the ROKOS Desktop

Security Steps
Pi and root accounts default passwords:  raspberry

*note: Remember that the password will not be displayed as you type it; there are no Windows-style * symbols representing the letters. Instead, it will appear that you haven’t entered a password. This is a security feature to prevent people guessing the length of your passphrase. Just type the password regardless.

Open a terminal and change the password of "Pi" and "root" accounts with this commands

sudo passwd
(write your new password, this will change the password of Pi, the main use account)

su root
enter password:  raspberry

passwd
(write your new password, this will change the password for the root account)

exit
(leaves root account and goes back to Pi account)

exit or close the terminal window

RESTART the system one last time so it can start with correct configurations. (correct mount of tmp for the tech savy)

Final steps

a) Go to Menu > Internet and Click on the OKCash Wallet

This will open the OKCash wallet, give it some minutes for the initial setup, OK Chain is Synched so it will be ready for use in the next minutes.

*Repeat the previous step with the Desired Wallet you would like to open and use.
*For BTC LTC and DOGE the initial synch will take some hours and even days in case of Bitcoin's Chain, wallets are fully usable after being fully Synchronized.

b) Make a backup of your wallets and save in USB or external media.

Use your OKCash wallet to Stake, Send/Receive OK cryptocurrency or send and receive encrypted messages with other OK users.

Important Security Notice:
Remember to create a backup for your Wallets, you can use the wallets to create them and save in different folders on a USB device.
You should ALWAYS have a backup of your wallet, Raspberry Pi Hardware and the Software are under development hence is not responsible for missuses, electrical or compatibility issues that might cause a loss of information. It is as secure as one's ability to take care for it, same as a computer, so always have a backup of your wallets on an external device.

You can start testing and developing new integrations with the Bitcoin OKCash Litecoin & Dogecoin Tech with your IoT projects.

OS already has a lot of the libraries required to compile most of cryptocurrencies, you can try compiling your altcoin daemon like this:

- git clone http://[githubofaltcoin]

- cd altcoin

- cd src

- make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-

that should compile the daemon for that altcoin, feel free to share feedback or ask any question in the official thread so it can remain for future users with same doubts, we will share more friendly manuals later on.

P.S: you should remember to open the ports of that altcoin in the firewall, you can do it with

- sudo ufw allow PORT/TCP

Cheers.

You could look at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=911212.0 for the piWallet interface to the daemons... that would free some resources taken by the X-based GUI that could be used to run more coins... Using that as a piece for a ROKOS-CLI version might be interesting.

On a (mostly) not related line of thought:
I wonder why some daemons require so much RAM... orbitcoind asks for around 500MB and the poor RasPi has only 512MB... also, swap file/partition must be approached with a lot of care and consideration...
I'd like to see daemons optimized for low memory consumption especially when compiling for less powerful platforms.

Europecoin (ERC) v3 -- EJZwagsubfxn1xeB4JmztAWitgTPty3FzN , BitSend (BSD) -- iMYtWqD3pPVcV4yo9okrN7gixvQ3nRYRnz

Hi, thanks for your feedback,

Looked already to the git, but on the contrary, the daemons in the ROKOS system does not use extra resources,  (Daemon does not have a graphical interface)  the QT version is the graphical one, so users can select which to use and does not require extra layers, which would lower performance as they require mysql and more sw to be running aside of the daemons, we would require to audit their layer as well for security checks, but as I just said, is not getting consideration for now as main point behind the system is to make it use less resources possible to give all the pi power to the system and wallets.

As for the RAM issue with some currencies, this depends on different aspects, hash, transactions, addresses, health, so to detect why its behaving that way should inspect and pinpoint the issue to find the real cause and give it some optimization.

so far seems LTC, Doge and OK runs with around 250-350 mb, BTC uses a bit more, at least while its synching and processing the transactions, hence why the system works for Pi +B but its recommended and built for the Pi2 .

OK is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls OK and everyone can take part.
