How to teach kids about Bitcoin?

This article doesn't talk about bitcoin but it got me thinking how to get kinds interested in bitcoin within the context of appropriate money management lessons. Think of we could teach kinds about it. The growth, the adoption, the inflation and retraction. The allure of the "internet money".

like puzzle that when solved reveal a private key for example

it is important that kids start to learn early some basic economy, at least something about income and expenditure

i heard about a new law for some countries that will make it possible(to teach them basic economy) in schools

I was actually making an ALTcoin with my kid's name as the altcoins name, her first name as the unit, her picture on the wallet... Actually went fine untill i tried to compile a windows QT wallet. :-(

Kids these days are increasingly smart and have so much more access to things. Games are the way to go, solve puzzles make a few satoshi (very few) and in exchange to these satoshis you unlock more puzzles or get some kind of a virtual reward.
This would enable the thought process that you've got to earn if you want something for yourself, and also keeps them in close vicinity to crypto-currency and the crypto-world.

I think someone could create a game about it , a game composed of story telling which as they progress they get to know more about different angles of bitcoin world which could be useful when they grew up

Kids love to play, so incorporate it in a game, make puzzles and ledgers from lego, the first kid to solve the puzzle gets 25 'coins'. Would be nice if the lego company would provide a bitcoin game box of the shelve

not shure how it should work though. Each could get a stack of blocks which are the ledger, they should match in color and size. Then enters a transaction in the form of a puzzle, the first one to finish it receives 25 coins. the puzzle could be as simple as a card or a dice that defines a new stack upon the chain. Then everyone matches the chain again..

I would say it's best to teach them the same way you teach them about money. Except for the bits about security.
Kids are able to pick things up quickly anyway, so it shouldn't be too hard.

I think the basis for the education still goes back and teach how to earn it. Not how to spend it because practically you don't need somebody to teach you how to do that. More important is telling them how money or bitcoin for that matter comes along, that is finding a way to earn it, whether by earning by providing services, doing businesses, by investment or even about taking chance and gamble. That way they will learn to appreciate it.

I would agree, games are the way to go.  Something bright and easy, perhaps incorporate some kind of mining aspect into it so they can understand the process.  Could start off collecting some satoshi by completing puzzles and then be able to rent mining rigs / hardware in order to make more or something to that effect but definitely gaming is the way to go in my opinion.

I don't think kids can't grasp basic concepts to understand Bitcoin such as decentralization and a open sourced nature, no to mention p2p protocol.. etc. They can grasp the idea of money itself as a means to get stuff, but beyond that is too difficult to explain. They wouldn't get it, just like they wouldn't get how fractional reserve works, etc.

That sounds a bit scary to me. Substitute gaming with gambling and you will get an idea. Do you want your kids (if you happen to have any) to go to a casino?

I am sure that once the kids get hold of the private keys, they will be no longer interested in gaming "for fun" (having understood what they are used for) and quickly switch to chasing after your private keys, since it will be real fun (with all ensuing consequences)...

Interesting so the learning can be twofold:

1) The technology side, the puzzle that is part of the mining process, and

2) The financial implications, the money management element.

Teaching kids about bitcoin is such a wise idea itself. It would be good money for an app developer to make educational bitcoin games for kids which help them learn more and have more fun too. A little puzzle, an open world game or just interactive game would be a nice idea.

I am sure that once the kids get hold of the private keys, they will be no longer interested in gaming "for fun" (having understood what they are used for) and quickly switch to chasing after your private keys, since it will be real fun (with all ensuing consequences)...

this specific private key, held zero bitcoin, for obvious reason 

another small physical game, could be something like lego for bitcoin, for example a lego that simulate a big farm when completed or the whole bitcoin network

I had some inner feeling, that bitcoin and crypto generally is not suitable for kids yet..kids should had different interests than mining difficulty, finance models, PGP and inflation..

Perhaps item 3) is teaching kids about the gambling element and why it's dangerous. Helping a kid realize the swings and how quickly money can vanish could help them a great deal as they grow to have their own money and get lured into the appeal of earning money fast.
