Have you decided what payout system you're switching to

I like proportional but that's just me

Currently it's a cheat-proof version of proportional, but I'd be happy to switch to pure proportional if everyone wanted.

I for one, like "cheat-proof"! Though, I don't know how it would change being pure prop!

Additional comment:
After the payout, I had 3.35 estimated/1.78 current. I cashed out, then I refreshed, and the est. dropped to .85!?!
Was there some reworking to be done? or am I missing something?

I am actually unable to cashout from the site....

edit: i'm receiving:  "Fatal error: Uncaught BitcoinClientException: [ 0]: Didn't receive 200 OK from remote server. (HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error) thrown in on line 0" when i attempt payout.

edit edit: Also seem like auto payout is broken as it didn't attempt to.

User error or some weird bug fixed now

That's just the revolving stats, I'm working on a better way to make them all sync. Also, the estimate is the new round, since you were generating after the last round.

Hmm, that's the error the new bitcoin client was giving the cronjob..... If I have to pay you out manually I will. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I like the cheat-proof scoring we're using now.

Also, you aren't actively mining at this pool, so why would it matter to you? Do you think proportional scoring is so much better that you'd mine here if this pool used that payout scheme? Just curious...

Well, I know it would attract more pool hoppers, which is more hashing power, but they will devalue the payout when it is in their interest.

Right, that's pretty much what I was implying. Proportional is good for pool hoppers. Cheat-proof is good for everybody else. If you're mining 24/7 you need to either be a hopper or be in a non-proportional pool (since you'll lose money due to the hoppers over the long run in a proportional pool).

Do you really think being a proportional pool would add a lot of hashing power SC (at least at the beginning of rounds)? Maybe I'm underestimating the number of hoppers...

I'd mine here if the combined hashing rate wasn't so low. At the current hash rate there is too much variance in luck (like the last block)
It would only make sense to have proportional payouts, otherwise people would lose too much money. I want to be paid for the work that I did contribute, even if I leave the round.

Edit:
For example. If the next round lasted a month like the last one, and someone was mining for a week with no success, they would just move to another pool to get their time's worth. With proportional scoring he would get maybe 50% of the reward he would potentially have a month later, but it's better than not being rewarded at all (score system).
As opposed to "forcing" someone to stay in a month-long round, which yields up to a 50% loss in profit

They are way off.
SC - maybe change that calculation to the basic (current shares/round shares) * 49.5 = est. earnings. With a disclaimer that this is only an estimate and may be off by a bit since it's cheat-proof scoring.
That way people don't get freaked out.

Yes, the earnings estimates are off for proportional scoring..... mostly due to a lot of early users seeing their estimates stay the same or dropping (then freaking out).

Estimates currently climb until difficulty is reached (like a pps counter).

If enough people prefer pure estimates, I'm happy to recode it.

I'd prefer pure estimates, but I'm not a powerful hasher right now, so if other people disagree they're higher priority.

It is a little disheartening, to see it rise fast, then watch it slowly tick away on a long round!

Hell! I don't really care, as long as it's all the same! Wink

Makes no difference to me either way bitcoin gets into wallet and still they are just estimates....  ESTIMATES it is going to flux thus why we call them estimates lol

Lets looks at the very definition of Estimate:
–verb (used with object)
1. to form an approximate judgment or opinion regarding the worth, amount, size, weight, etc., of; calculate approximately: to estimate the cost of a college education.
2. to form an opinion of; judge.
–verb (used without object)
3. to make an estimate.
–noun
4. an approximate judgment or calculation, as of the value, amount, time, size, or weight of something.
5. a judgment or opinion, as of the qualities of a person or thing.
6. a statement of the approximate charge for work to be done, submitted by a person or business firm ready to undertake the work.
—Synonyms
1.  compute, count, reckon, gauge, assess, value, evaluate, appraise.
4.  valuation, calculation, appraisal.

Therefor asking for a truer estimate is like asking for a truer number of chicken eggs to hatch we really cant tell cause pardon my french but shit happens.
thus the saying you can count your eggs before they have hatched.

So yes I realize we want thing to be perfect but that just not gonna happen I want Resistors to be exactly correct when I make a circuit, but that is few and
far between I still have to fudge the numbers or build with tolerances in mind when I design circuits. So AS long as your getting payed and there is no major
discrepancies don't make such a fit about something that is an estimate ruffle feathers.

so when looking at a "estimate" keep in mind it is just that an estimate. The pool can make step to make it more accurate but in the long run its still gonna change.

Please excuse my chicken references as I am from Kansas originally Living in Arizona thus farm land are in my past lol.
