Seems bitgold has released my account from suspension after 2 weeks. @melanie Before i buy gold from another user or trade for goods you must fix this fraud problem of gold before it reaches me in trade, otherwise what's the point. I don't want to use the platform until more security is in place so i don't get  CC fraud gold sent to me after i pay for it then bitgold turns around and takes the gold and suspends my account. my last transaction was $1400.00 and not only did i lose over 1000$ my account was suspended. now my account is back up but i'm out $1400.00 all because bitgold didn't check the gold before it was sent to me.    Cry

Its bad but its true Its very worst company ever I saw for stealing peoples money with smart way. I will suggest to stay away of such big name even its public listed.

I had very bad experience with my $750 USD which I never get to my account.

I would not consider doing business with them to any user.
They seem to be a company with many unhappy customers.

Melanie from BitGold again! I just posted these resources elsewhere, and thought it might be helpful to include them here as well to address these "scam" claims. As always, please feel free to direct any questions to support@bitgold.com.

The accusations that we are a "scam" are coming from those who have tried to take advantage of our referral program, which is prohibited in our Terms of Service. This program will be updated to further discourage abuse of the program, as is discussed here:

Update to the Golden Heart Referral Program from BitGold CEO Darrell MacMullin - community.bitgold.com/discussion/468/

Here are some other helpful resources:

BitGold's Safety and Security page (including information about our regulatory compliance, auditing information, insurance, and more) - https://www.bitgold.com/safety-security#/

Public Regulatory Filings of GoldMoney Inc. (BitGold's parent company) - http://www.sedar.com/DisplayProfile.do?lang=EN&issuerType=03&issuerNo=00037170

Interview with CEO Darrell MacMullin on Bloomberg TV - http://bloombergtv.ca/news/industries/tech-and-health/bitgold-ceo-were-in-the-middle-of-a-technology-revolution/

Interview with CEO Darrell MacMullin and co-founder Josh Crumb on BNN - http://www.bnn.ca/Video/player.aspx?vid=788076

is it possible to access the account disabled?

I also had a bad experience with bitgold somehow disabled my account, the reason they are detected double my account, but I only have one account. and the remaining balance (approximately $ 78) never returned to my debit card. really disappointing.  Roll Eyes

Can anyone please tell me why bit gold cant be used to send payments between users in the US?

Is it a legal restriction?

If so does anyone know which laws are causing the restriction?

I think it has to do with taxes, I found on Google there is for example a 28% capital gain tax on gold in the USA.
Forbes explains why gold and silver coins are not used to pay:
Quote
There are a number of reasons, but let’s focus on one: the capital gains tax. The Fed debases the dollar, but of course not gold and silver. As the dollar falls, the prices of the metals rise. The government treats this as a “gain” and upon sale of the metal, levies a tax on it. If the dollar loses half its value, then the gold price will double, say from $1,400 to $2,800. The government takes 28 percent of this difference, or about $400. The only way to avoid this tax is by not selling. Thus gold and silver are best suited to long-term preservation of wealth: hoarding.

Penny stocks are publicly listed on the exchange.

Just cause something has been listed on the exchange doesnt give it credit - still gotta do the homework for people who are behind the company etc. And penny stocks go pump and dump quick - so yes its a white collar crime.

So would the customer holding the gold pay the CGT, or the BitGold the company or both?

Could it not also be the need to register the business and its activities on a state by state basis?
