There was a lot of hype about this test series, but India seem to be floundering badly. Their entire first innings lasted only 35 overs; that is telling because they lost 1.5 days to rain. The weather forecast for India is not good - it is predicted to be sunny and England will come out at them hard. They must hope for a batting miracle to save this test.

The problem with India is that their batsmen (other than Kohli) can't bat on seaming tracks and their bowlers (especially Ravichandran Ashwin) don't know how to make use of the green pitches.

Yep that was a very poor batting performance by India, there was no fight what so ever and they must be careful or they could lose 5-0. I can't see them winning this test series or even drawing the series with the current performances they have been putting in. After this series it doesn't get any easier for the Indian team as then they must play Australia later this year in a test series where they have never won a series before. Compared to other batsmen Ashwin is far better he played well in both innings. I don't know why the Indian team is selecting T20 players for test cricket. Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul they are hit and run players they will stand for a long time. If this continues it will defintly affect on next series.

I think India are fine playing in ODI matches on pitches like the ones in England. As they showed in the T20 series that they can play on these pitches but in the shorter form of the game. So I think they should be fine in next years World Cup, they just need to work on getting better playing on these pitches in test matches. Yes india are still very good odi and t20 team across all conditions in the world but when it comes to test cricket yes they struggle against the moving ball specially in England...so they need to work on their technique and i still believe they can comeback in this series.
