^  Last info I heard was the FA saying the EPL would be back prolly around end of April.  And some guy from Southampton saying that it could be before that even.  I'm hopeful for either one...  I miss football.

I think we would all cheer that if this was to become the truth.I am not optimistic though by seeing the situation with England Prime Minister announcing yesterday night that all non critical activities like bars, restaurants and pubs will all be closed for a certain time. This does not leave a lot to hope for about Premiership being back before end of April.

Isnt that depends on how the COVID19 spread? It could be the end of the season right now if it keeps spreading. No player will be willing to play in a place where all those virus has been spreading widely

Yeah, there has been some talks about the drugs that recover it, if we can actually get our hands on something that makes sure that sick gets healthier, that would basically stop this. I know you feel like infection is the worst thing but the "not realizing when you are sick and almost dying" part is the real scary part, if every person on earth have a chance to actually heal from this virus, there is no reason to be worried about it after that.

You can go outside, do whatever you want to do, if you get sick just get a drug that cures it and live comfortably without worrying about it. But, that is not how it is right now, if you go out and live carefree, you may DIE! That is how serious it is right now and that is why a treatment is direly needed for it.

Not even in our widest dream, I strongly think Premier League by April can only be a fantasy, even if there is an actual cure or vaccine to prevent its infection, it's still going to take well more than a month before things to will back to near normalcy.

Yes its surely not going to happen in April may be we will have in second or third week of May which is also highly risky because until now we have no good news in Europe for Corona and its already creating very serious problems for Italy France England and Switzerland which is not good.

It all depends on how Citizens comply with the Lockdowns and quarantine measures. Looking at how China have fought hard in the last 2 months and now the number of new cases is actually dropping. Other Countries could  also trying borrowing a leaf from China and in the coming months the threat could be minimized.

I really hope it all dies away in the next 4-6 weeks. I waited my whole life to see my team win the title, it’ll be so cruel if they stop the season without us becoming champions.

Antonio Rudiger spoke of the increasingly virulent corona virus pandemic in Europe.  The German player believes football is no longer important at this time, especially to discuss when the resumption of the English Premier League.

Football in Europe has been postponed due to a corona virus outbreak, including one from the English Premier League.  There are 417,947 corona cases in the world and 18,602 deaths.  According to Rudiger, stopping spread now is more important than thinking about when the Premier League will continue.

Is your team Liverpool? If it is even though they haven't won the championship Liverpool have won the Champions League trophy for 6 times now and I think for a fan that is a much better thing to have for team to win it, I personally don't even care even if my team isn't a league winner as long as they have won the Champions League and they are placed to qualify for the UCL next season. As for the pandemic dying down in 4-6 weeks, I doubt that is possible as from what I have seen in the news there was an increase around 100,000 new confirmed cases in just a span of 4 days so that is really not a sign that the virus is slowing down, some of the sporting events like the Tokyo Olympics are even postponed to 2021 which just show that this pandemic might not be solve fast.

Liverpool is my team bro, yes. I was lucky enough to go to the last two CL Finals (one ended up better for me than the other Wink).

The CL is the best competition to win, I agree but I really want to see us win the title. I hope the PL can resume maybe in late May.

First, welcome back on the forum  Wink

I read in the local newspaper, because of big money lost PL thinking to resume in early May, but players don't want to take the risk even if they play behind the closed door.
btw It seems the pandemic is coming a little late in the UK, I am very surprised with such a slow reaction.
After many years, Liverpool is so close to the title, can we risk to overcome the virus, is there anything worse than before Liverpool gets to the top?  Cheesy

Just thinking out.

What will happen to the players whose contracts end this summer in their respective Premier League clubs should there be a late resumption of the Premier League?

How is business going to be held in the transfer market if the leagues are still ongoing as they try to complete the delayed 2019/2020 season?

Moreover, other than some players already infected with the virus. The players have been told to train at home. It will affect their fitness IMO, as what they can do is limited (if they really do serious training at home lol). Even if the league somehow resume in May, the level of competition is not the same.

My intuition says it won't resume.

Players will maintain some kind of training themselves but not all of them are CR7. We see many players fall into overweight after summer holidays. With the very long break from the pandemic, if the league comes back, quality of matches will decrease as unavoidable consequence from players' physical conditions. But it is fair for nearly all club's, exclude clubs have serious infected cases and will not fully recover when league restarts.

There's still no announcement from the Premier League but Fifa mentioned [source] the possibility of adjusting the registration period for players.
- Additional information in regards to other possibilities.

The players have been told to train at home. It will affect their fitness IMO, as what they can do is limited (if they really do serious training at home lol). Even if the league somehow resume in May, the level of competition is not the same.
I do agree with the latter part but in terms of fitness levels, they'll be fine even with limited basic equipment [they're professional athletes, trained to cope with such situations].
- Coronavirus: Players show how to keep healthy at home.

Moreover, other than some players already infected with the virus. The players have been told to train at home. It will affect their fitness IMO, as what they can do is limited (if they really do serious training at home lol). Even if the league somehow resume in May, the level of competition is not the same.

My intuition says it won't resume.

Apart from the fact that this condition is going to have serious impact on their fitness, teams are going to lose a lot in terms of strategy.
The managers has trained a lot their players for being up to date with new strategies, but now due to the quarantine the strategies of the teams are not updated from the coaches.

Just thinking out.

What will happen to the players whose contracts end this summer in their respective Premier League clubs should there be a late resumption of the Premier League?

How is business going to be held in the transfer market if the leagues are still ongoing as they try to complete the delayed 2019/2020 season?

I presume if the season restarts then it shouldn’t be a problem to extend players contracts by an extra month or two so they can complete the season with their current clubs.

But still this could be big problem for many clubs as still uncertainty around all Eruope no one can give any exact time about any thing hopefully UEFA will bring some better option for all clubs and players which will not creat any new problems for any one in near future.

In my own opinion, i do not think there will be any problems.
For me, the best bet is to reach an agreement with players, and extend the contracts by a month or 2.

Secondly, This season has to be played out, any time it ends. The coming season can have the fa / carling cup restricted to ensure compliance to the season.
Likewise, The FA and UEFA have to extend the transfer window too just this once.

With the rate at which the COVID-19 pandemic is spreading, I'm having doubts about the Premier league resuming in May 2020. No matter what happens, I feel Liverpool should be duly crowned Champions regardless of whether in front pf fans or within closed doors. Most people still want the season to be null and void but it wouldn't be fair to Liverpool which is just 6 points away from winning the trophy. Let's see what happens in the next couple of weeks.
