Bc8
Passive defense is not ideal but a5 loses to Nc4 and we have limited options.
I don't see anything else. Nc7 looks even worse. Bc8 (languagehasmeaning, XMRpromotions) Whats wrong with Nc7? We could play Be6 afterwards and begin to move our king My guess is that Bc8 is better than Nc7 because Nc7 loses control of e3. White can just play Kg1, Kf2, Ke3, Kd4 and ignore moves like Be6. I want to activate our king but it seems like we are always a little bit slower in part because we have more weak pawns to defend like a6 and h7. If we can find a way to trade our bishop without losing any pawns that would be nice. It is unfortunate that white told us his plan and it is still hard to find a good defense. This is a tough endgame despite the material equality. Getting our knight to c5 with our king on d6 and our bishop on e6 (on the way to c5) should save us. The problem is that the plan requires many moves because of our hanging pawn on h7 and the possible pin with Bf5 after we play Ne6. Both potential targets for us (b3 and h2) take a long time to attack and whites king seems to get to the center faster in every line I can find. Bc8 (languagehasmeaning, XMRpromotions, boolberry)

Bc6 atacking game
If Bc6 white will just play Kg1 (avoiding 39.Bxa6 Nc7+ of course) and we have the same problems as before. Bc8 (languagehasmeaning, XMRpromotions, boolberry) Bc6 (deepocean)

This is a game of consensus, right? Anyone want to join me for a 51% attack?

This is a game of consensus, right? Anyone want to join me for a 51% attack? Please don't take personal offense, but I've been wondering for long: What's the use of knowingly advocating destructive nonsense? (I know you're joking, but still... )

However if our king gets further away from the corner then the threat against h7 will need to be addressed.

1 vote: Kg7 (deepocean) 2 votes: Kf8 (tifozi, boolberry) 1 vote: f5 (mammut) 2 votes: h5 (jjacob, languagehasmeaning) h5 with the plan of 40.Kf2 h4 followed by hxg3+ taking advantage of the fact that f4 is only defended by the pawn on g3. Centralizing our king is important but exchanging a potentially weak pawn now should help us. With this plan the g3 pawn should be easier to attack in the future than h2 is now since our knight can potentially attack g3 from more squares.
