Has anyone even had a look at the product?

You're all hyping something as the next big thing but you have seen nothing of it, and the devs don't exactly inspire confidence in the way they communicate

You can see Phantom on testnet. It is running and being tested. The devs don't always comment on the forums, but they are making progress and updating us with the monthly reports. Until Phantom is on mainnet, the devs will not spend much time chatting on forums or marketing. They want Phantom to be 100% working first. It is a different approach than most, but I have been impressed on their progress thus far.

Could you, please, explain, how to access the testnet, as there's no info about it on the OP,
it could prevent a lot of questions about the project's progress

This is the testnet explorer:
- https://explorer.testnet.shiftnrg.nl/delegateMonitor

And you can find all your answers in here too: www.shiftnrg.org
Please read all the info here: https://www.shiftnrg.org/newsletter/ there you will find how to test phantom Cheesy If you are really caring about the technology I recommend to you to read a little more about Shift and join us into Ryver: https://shiftnrg.ryver.com/application/signup/members/Q3vvIv5azjNuFKl

Welcome to the playground. Obviously since it's testnet nothing is permanent  and there's always a chance you run into bugs. To the best of my knowledge the official wallet will let you do everything, but you could always run your own test node on an Ubuntu setup very easily.

Anyone can please answer this?

Is 500 Shift worth staking? What sort of returns can I expect every month?

It all depends on which pools you join. All pools payout a little differently. If you can become a delegate, you will make about 1000 Shift per month, but you have to be voted top 101. Most just join pools that are already delegates.

Thanks but I wanted to get an idea like how much return can I expect in general (not exact figures). I know pools payout a particular percentage but overall there must be a range right? Like if ROI is 1 Shift a year from voting with 10k then it's not worth it. That's what I want to know.

would like to see a dedicated marketing team hired once mainnet is ready. devs shouldnt be handling marketing, devs are for dev.

Looking for the next 10x Small Cap for Q2 2018? $XBY (dApp Platform, New PoSign Algorithm), $SHIFT (dPoS Decentralized Web 3.0 on IFPS) & $BLOCK (Blockchain Agnostic DeX, atomic swaps)

I completely agree. A budget exists, not sure why the devs don't hire someone or a group to promote Shift.

Can you please post this on Shift Ryver? We need to get a response from them and fix this hole asap if it's still open.

The dev team don't monitor this thread. So no use posting here.

What Dev Team Wrote on Ryver

Ralf S said:
Hello @here,

Some of you mentioned this post about a warning for LSK, SHIFT, RISE.
https://boards.4chan.org/biz/thread/2836956

There is no reason to panic, we are aware of that API endpoint and the security risk this could cause. They do have a point, and it is important to repeat: ALWAYS use the OFFICIAL https wallet, if you are not running your own node!
No need to say that we NEVER log input. Some users who lost their keys wish we would though.

We do have a fix for this, to be released in the next wallet update. Where we don't use this endpoint at all, and sign transactions at the client side to broadcast to our main nodes.
That way your private keys are safe, because they aren't sent at all. You can compare it to the way MyEtherWallet works.

We hope this explains the case and answers your questions.

This doesn't look good. Still time to fix this, but I'm surprised there was no urgency even when they knew about it

After getting the above response, I asked the devs when the new version of the web wallet will be released. No response so far. I'll post here if I get any.

This needs to be fixed on an urgent basis. After what happened with Parity hack, I don't think I can sleep easy until this is fixed.

Shift also needs a desktop lite client. Web wallets cannot be trusted.

They've talked about client sided signing before.
If you don't trust the devs then it's easy to run your own node and only transact from there.

Thanks but I wanted to get an idea like how much return can I expect in general (not exact figures). I know pools payout a particular percentage but overall there must be a range right? Like if ROI is 1 Shift a year from voting with 10k then it's not worth it. That's what I want to know.

It's pretty impossible to tell right now. More pools get voted in every day and as people move funds to and from the exchanges your voting weight, and therefore payout, will change. However, if you go to Vekexasia's neat tool he posted about a few pages ago and plug in an address from the explorer with about 10k, you can see they're earning about 50 Shift/month
https://dpostools.com/SHIFT/holderview/5896893697515518514S
So about 6% return per year if my match is correct. It's not bad, and obviously we all hope Shift will go up in value as well, but it's no GPU miner making ROI in 90 days. Basically if you're already invested, vote for pools and other solid delegates, and it's not a bad idea to buy some and vote for another source of passive income and possible investment appreciation. But don't expect to double your money in a year. To my knowledge, no other DPOS coin would return much more either.

Marketing is planned once Phantom is running and stable on mainnet. They won't stop anyone from marketing themselves, but the team wants to have a working product before official marketing is done.

It was a fork of Eth but due to 51% attacks switched over the the Lisk codebase. In both cases Shift was had its own blockchain, so not currently connected directly to Lisk, but using the same codebase.

We switched over the Ryver awhile back due to costs associated with Slack. The link to signup is here: https://shiftnrg.ryver.com/application/signup/members/Q3vvIv5azjNuFKl
You can find the link from the website under the Contact tab.

Total supply can be found in the explorer: https://explorer.shiftnrg.org/. Just under 11 million at this point. Inflation is ~10% annually
