It is not the first time that Roma looks as if they have more control over the game, but they lack some quality to create chances, to use that ball possession and more often put their opponents under serious pressure. You can see it from the number of shots on target: Roma had 5 shots on target with 68% ball possession and Fiorentina had 5 shots on target with only 32% ball possession.

That was not quite the result they were hoping for as Bologna and Juventus both failed to win their games. That was another chance to get closer to the top four positions here. Though I have to add that Fiorentina is a reasonably good team at the moment and not to be beaten easily in their home stadium. I think in summary Roma is happy about the point as they were actually on the bring of losing the game.

I don't think it was luck, this draw was the result of De Rossi's ingenuity in making substitutions so he could score a goal to make it a draw. This draw is of course very good for As Roma, currently they are only three points behind Bologna. Of course, the potential for As Roma to overtake Bologna could happen in the next few weeks. Since being coached by De Rossi who replaced Mourinho, As Roma has performed better, it could be that next season As Roma will be even stronger.

Under De Rossi's tutelage, goalkeeper Mile Svilar continues to be a starter so his performance is getting better.
