The s-7 is better then the s-5 And depending on your setup there are mufflers that work.
I disagree. To me 1 x S7 is much louder than 3 x S5's. Even with fan speed reduction to 30%. That doesn't really make sense. Your S7 = 2x fans and S5s = 3x fans, identical fans. Sound is not merely relative to the fan speed and rating. You also must factor into existence the flow of the air and the noise generated from turbulence and or vibration. So you have environmental factors to think about. S5 - has lower restriction of airflow. The fin design of the heatinks allows for air to pass through with less resistance and turbulence. S7 - has compact heatsink design and completely enclosed aluminum housing. This creates a lot of turbulence and resistance. Just like water. What generates more noise, a river without rocks/rapids or one with rocks/rapids? Keep in mind not all S5 are the same. I have units with 4 different types of heat sinks. So it is important to know when compare which models people have. 1. The standard curved fin 2. The new ones like on the S7 3. Some CNC'd flat ones simliar to #1 but no curves 4. I forgot but I am pretty sure I received 4 different kinds from Bitmain New S5's with S7 heatsinks, are you talking about the S5+? And also there were batches with mini heatsinks individually on each chip. I'm considering adding some to the hotter chips since i have the materials for it but i'm not sure if it does anything at all, would be good to know. It Works for the S7, not sure if it would work with a S5.

what is the diameter of the S7 fan ? i want use a duct adaptor for 2x 200mm fan (high flow, high pressure, low noise). the square fan does not fit into a 6 inch duct. the square fan does fit into a 7 inch duct. read my thread on how I fit the square fan into a six inch duct. wait for link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1188217.msg12500685#msg12500685

Right now it is 77f in NJ pretty hot for OCT. my s-7 is running at 4740gh and freq 587 I use my muffler system set the fans to 33% and basically it is quiet well under 50db. See thread link. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1188217.msg12500685#msg12500685Now if it were 90f outside I would have issues wit heat but even at 77f I am far more happy with my s-7 for sound then I ever was for my s-5's

Regardless i believe you but yeah, if there's S5's non + with a S7 compact heatsink, i would like to see it + know what PCB version it read on the top right of the PCB under the bitmain logo. The latest i saw was v1.91.

Only thing is these miners were not built as child proof . You pull out your hammer and make that square fit in a 6 in circle... I have a feeling the fan breaks. And that would ruin warranty as not you cannot even replace fan without bitmain's allowing it. Which may seem crazy but you cannot do a lot now without voiding warranty.

These Batch 2 and 3 miners probably won't get shipped until,
* Price of BTC goes to $300-$315 and reverses back down. I think they are holding them right now and mining with them so they can dump.
*Or will ship them on November 5th as its the last delay day.
Mining is very profitable at the moment.

to buy bitcoin a few weeks back, then ordering batch 2,3 now would be profitable too. b2 is going for less than 6BTC, shipped.

I'm not wanting to come across as though I'm attacking you cause I'm not. I just don't think that type of accusation promotes a healthy relationship between BITMAIN and the miners they sell rigs to. I would rather refrain from such accusations without proof. There may have been proof in the past in some cases. However, that does not mean they would do it now.

you can't jerk these things around too much as you don't know when bad luck will change to super good luck (I wish i could, but it is random). it takes a while sometimes. I often see petahashes sloshing around chasing luck.

I would rather refrain from such accusations without proof. There may have been proof in the past in some cases. However, that does not mean they would do it now. The proof are in the charts. Bitmain is a business, their number one goal is to make a profit. This is what keeps the investors happy because it makes the balance sheet look profitable. You really think their #1 priority is to keep retail customers happy? That's the reason why other manufactures don't sell to the public and just mine on their own. On Aug 30th when the S7 was announced the price of BTC/CNY was 1450. Right now its 1800. Basically a 25% gain. Looking at the charts, BTC/CNY will most likely hit 1900/2000 before heading lower and before November 5th. That's a staggering 38% gain in price. Right now mining is highly profitable so if they can and are pretty much legally allowed to mine until November 5th, why not. No B2/B3 miners will ever get shipped out until then. If the BTC/USD price breaks the $300-$320 and heads towards the $400-600 range, guess what. The B3 will be the last batch of the S7 that Bitmain will ever be selling to us.
