And now a question about flashing the new firmware.  I have to be honest, I don't think I've done this since the S1 days which was a simple .bin file to flash them with.  But the new file is a tarball with multiple files in it.  I have tried linking the tar.gz file and it wouldn't take it, then I just untar'd it and tried, still nothing.  The fully uncompressed file has several files in it, so I didn't want to risk just flashing with the .bin file since there's also a script file and a couple of others...

TL:DR - What's the process to flash my S7 with the 600 MHz firmware upgrade?
There is an upgrade tab on n the system section on the web gui.
You browse for file , select it an click flash
I down load the file to my pc first
Very easy.

Ok, yes, I know where the upgrade tab is in the gui, but do I just use the tar.gz file to perform the upgrade?  Maybe the file was corrupted when I downloaded it so it wasn't working.  I'll have to try again when I get home tonight.
Yes just download it from the website with a browser. Tar.gz is the file it uses. Confused me at first too back in the day.
I have a laptop running at the datacenter that I download it to.
Then I can flash them all from the same file.
I use teamviewer to remote control the laptop, very slick product, free for personal use.

For those about to block we salute you! AC->BTC

I have used TeamViewer since my USB miner days, seeing that I would have to do a hard reboot of my computer everyday and it works slick. I also use it while on vacation so I can check on web cam at home to make sure it's all good.

Ok, must've been a corrupt file when I downloaded it or didn't give the device enough time to perform the upgrade.  I'll just try it again tonight and leave it alone for 10 minutes to see if the process worked.  But I do have to say these things are freakin' loud!  Like a jet turbine running in my basement!  Happy with the hashrate though and the ability to use Extranonce.subscribe.

I have found a solution to soundproof.

Home Depot sells  hvac venting about one hundred bucks will do three or four units.

I will post photos :  photos are on my soundproof thread

Maybe 10 days. No one knows for sure.  Batch 2 or 3?

Awesome! Curious as well, if it works well I just might order some S7-lite's (if they create less noise/dB) to have at home.
The regular S7 is just too loud to have in an apartment.

You definitely need 2 floors between you and the miner.  Mine's in the basement...the back room of the basement and I can hear it all over my first floor, but not on the second floor.

Judging by a huge recent jump in hashing speed, BMT already produced new miners and now connected them to "test".
Did anybody get a shipping notification for a miner (b2/B3) that was ordered on or after 10/20?

So it's basically insulated duct work on the ingress/egress fans to lower the decibels?  I wish I had a meter to see the dB of what my miner is.  It's crazy loud compared to my S5's.

Use a manual fan speed.

You should have no problems with 50%, you can probably go lower ( I use 30% on most of mine).  S7's run best at ~62C.

Running at full speed your probably going to shake heatsinks off.

I currently have them set to 80%.  I haven't had a lot of time to play with the speed and watch the heat since I just got it last night.  I'll move it down to 60% to see how it fares next.

I am a little bit worried about S7 heatsink issue in case it fell off my s7 will burn!

I highly doubt that the glue which is holding the heatsinks in place will survive several years of nonstop mining
temperature will affect the glue for sure.
Proof me wrong please Sad

Hmm, how can it be proven when they haven't been around for several years?

generally speaking, yes, but when I tried to lower to 50%, temp of the boards was OK (57-58C) and speed was great, but somehow controller lost its marbles and required a reboot.
it also seems that after software update S7 is maintaining ~55C of the boards automatically, so I just let it be for now. It is a bit scary to repeat going to 50% and see if it was just one off. In addition, maybe ambient matters as well, as I have 28C, which is a bit higher than probably most cases.

These machines aren't designed to last that long, hence the 90 day warranty, but I like the 2 working ones I got waiting for replacement board information from BM for the one that lost some chips/heatsinks.
