i play lotteries on really rare occasions but unfortunately i never win anything on them because it is really hard to do that

That is true. Very difficult to do any calculations to find out the winning number in lottery so it completely depends on only pure luck. I also bought few times so for but so for no luck for me as well so I stopped to buying these lotteries.

How about the case in Bulgaria on their 6 of 49 game getting in two consecutive draws exactly the same numbers?
Someone was sending a message.
Anyone with probability knowledge to tell how is this possible.  Huh

Or in Serbia when the TV host on live draw made the mistake to say the number seconds before it was actually "picked" by the machine ...  Shocked

Do you have a reference to either of these two? I hadn't heard about them before.

Yes, I am absolutely 100% sure about those two cases. Ask google please.

I used to play the lottery but the most amount I had won was just enough to buy another lottery.

I don't think I have that much luck playing the lottery.

The lotery main thinking is profit and someone lucky to get money, but we all know worlwide there are more then a winner of top prizes soo we should be allowed to bet only one key ,if a person try to regist the same one it wouldnt allow, these way the lotery would be fair to be played as would increase the adds to the jackpot make someone happy all weeks instead keep growing till someone lucky.

There is no need to make some calculation on lottery just spend your money no more than the prize the rest is really depends on your luck. If you just want to play but depends on your luck better dont buy it because if you only buy 1 ticket it will be the same as losing

I do not invest on lotteries at all. Lotteries are purely shit! Suppose you bought a lottery ticket @ $12, there are 10,000 of them being sold on different places at the same time. So you have a 0.01% chance of winning it. That's why you'll lose more. If you want to win it with a probability of 50% then you'll need to buy 5000 tickets, which is an impossible factor! That's why never gamble on lotteries man!

The more tickets you buy you wont raise your chance yo win ,because the odds are very small to win any first prize, lucky always the way to win something otherwise is throw money away, better dice or others places with a better chance to win.

Lot people buy lottery tickets with the dream of immediately becoming wealthy, but the chances are slim to none that you'll win the lottery.

The dream that loteries sell to us is spend 2 euros and win 50 milions, which one would like to win these way?
The main fact is that they still being the main investment of the people money, instead people try to invest those money or put it at savings people wasting the money just some lucky may say loteries are amazing.

Playing lottery is a personal choice, like all forms of gambling. If you want to win the lottery, the only way I know is to play the lottery. Many statisticians and a non-statisticians get involved in lotteries. If you haven't already, you'll hear lotteries called "a tax on the stupid" most probably by the non-statisticians. Tongue

But the real horror comes when statisticians/people who say they're statisticians, claim to have come up with a system to beat the lottery. If you've ever heard of "lottery wheeling", then there's a chance that you can increase your odds of winning the lottery by using just a few simple tricks. (Spoiler alert: unless one of those steps is, "fixing the lottery numbers," you're doomed to fail.)

Some of these systems sound really good in theory, and people use statistics to back them up. For example, if you analyze all the past winners of the lottery, the sum of the numbers follows a normal distribution. That means, if Powerball numbers range from 1 to 59, you should make sure you pick 5 numbers with a sum around 150, since that sum is more likely to show up (not counting the Powerball number, of course). The normal distribution of Powerball sums shows a very clear peak around 150. But the problem with this is, it has no bearing on the likelihood of your exact numbers being picked. Think of it like being asked to pick the exact roll of two dice. A sum of seven is most likely since there are more combinations that sum to seven, but if I pick a 1 and a 6, I have no better odds than if I pick a 1 and a 2, even though 1 and 6 sum to seven.

So while it's a great theory, it ultimately ends up being worthless. It won't help you win the Powerball to pick numbers that sum to 150 or so. There are plenty of other ways to increase your winning chances :

1. Always pick the numbers yourself rather than letting the machine do it (absolutely no gain in odds).

2. Never pick the same numbers twice (again, no gain in odds).

3. Joining a lottery pool (which allows you to buy more tickets at less monetary risk to yourself but doesn't increase the odds of winning on any particular ticket).

4. Some official online lottery agents, like www.netlotto.com.au , offer syndicate play, which enables you to get together with friends, family or people from all over the world, lowering the cost, but increasing you chances by purchasing more games than you would be able to on your own.

I think every one of us dream about being able to do things beyond our current financial possibilities. Lottery is a "feasible" way to make those dreams come true ("someone" eventually wins). I don't buy lottery tickets expecting to get my money back, I buy the feeling that there is a possibility of seeing my dreams come true, therefore for a week or so I can dream about everything I would do more vividly and hopefully, which is kind of enjoyable in its own right.

Lot people buy lottery tickets with the dream of immediately becoming wealthy, but the chances are slim to none that you'll win the lottery.

In some areas they have lotteries for cars or houses. These usually have higher odds of winning but the tickets are like $100 each but they go to charities at least.

I know someone who won a house that way.

The only lottery I play is the Power ball.  I am in PA and the power ball lines get huge when there is a lot of money in the pot.  I only play this because I have three kids, so my wife and I play all 5 of our birthdays along with our anniversary as the power ball.

It seems the article you quote contradicts your statement rather than confirming it.

It says that the same numbers were drawn on 6th and 10th, but different ones were drawn on 7th and 8th.

It seems to me that there's about a 1% chance each year of having the exact same draw happen twice within a 1 year period:

>>> 49*48*47*46*45*44/6/5/4/3/2/1/365/365
104

But yeah, maybe it's fixed. Who can say.

Actually, I think the chance of a certain combination of 6 numbers to be drawn out of 49 is about 1/14,000,000 so I guess the chance for the exact same combo to be drawn twice is much less than that. So nowhere near 1%...
