Any help would be greatly appreciated. Windows 8.1 system, ONE miner directly into a laptop USB, I've tried every version of mining program and .bat file I can think of, and read Novak's GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread repeatedly to no avail.
not all laptop USB ports can put out the full 500 ma (2.5 watts) that the USB 2 spec calls for. have you tried them in a desktop or (standard run of the mill) powered USB 2 hub? this may not be an issue now but cgminer used to have problems with some USB 3 ports with some miners, if your laptop has both USB 2 and 3 try a USB 2 port. Also if you are use to a little of linux, it's honestly a heck of a lot easier then windows. The zadig driver is just a heck of a pain. I had a lot better luck with Debian. But these are both pre-production sticks i'm using so might have changed. I'm should get my production stick soon.

Now I run 3 setups I have 7 sticks running on my macmini vmware fusion shell windows 7 is inside of the shell pretty stable but due to this os being an old build with a shit ton of stuff on the os drive.. my vmware fusion shell is not allowing for a bat file simply tells me f you. So on the fusion build it is only allowing me to start by clicking on cgminer. I know this has something to do with the vm shell . but I just have not fixed it yet. note the sticks dropping but this is all due to lagtime in the shell

Haven't used freenode before, but that looks really cool! It's one of the few IRC networks remaining - there's quite a few software and hardware projects on there, including the 'official' bitcoin channels. If you don't have an IRC client, there's also a webchat - though I do recommend using a client

I finally got that CK pool notification script posted on github: http://edonkeycoin.github.io/ckpoolnotify/Currently all the script does is email you when a worker or user address has a new best share that's better than the previous one. While past success is no indication of future success, this does provide a little bit of feedback that something is happening. And it's kind of fun to cheer on your sticks. In the future more useful notifications can be added, like hash rate warnings, found block alerts, etc. The details are in the read me, but here's the overview of how you set up and use the script: - Install a couple of needed python libraries
- Send a test message to validate your email credentials
- Run the script with your email settings plus the worker and user addresses you want to monitor
- Optionally configure as a daemon to run automatically at boot
Honestly I've only tested this on Mac OS X (Yosemite and the El Capitan GM). It probably works on Windows and Linux, but I haven't tried it. If you run into problems let me know.

The pool I was pointing my stick at said it would take 14months to reach the minimum payout, so redirected it to the pool club for lotto chance lol.

Good plan. Better odds. FYI, you can look at this URL to see how the club is doing as far as its collective hash rate and best share: http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX

And yes, mining for dust with 8GH seem a bit pointless. Unless you have a big setup with tons of stick, better off using it as a lotto ticket imo. Thats why i bought a single one, anyways.

FYI, I've updated the script to notify when the CK solo pool has found a new block. If the found block is one of your monitored addresses, the script congratulates you. Otherwise it wishes you better luck next time

Bookmarking this thread, I'll be pointing one of my sticks here as soon as they show up. Looks like almost 400GH going, it's like an S3, not too shabby!
