Until you lost whole deposit do not give up - only the loss of all a sign of poor outcome. 40 bitcoins you can left in Dice or Poker Cheesy

Or he can hold them and wait the price recover or see some low risk investment or even lending with colateral.

The pump and dump days are gone but they might come back: there are always new people who will get close to this world and they will put new money in here.
And trading will become profitable again: it's so sad it works like this though.

Trading will not be profitable for all the traders as whole as exchanges charge a fee. It is a zero sum game.

Some time we feel we make a profit, that is just because the price of bitcoin rises. But for the people selling short, they will still make a loss.

This is different from stock market, the companies we invest in make profit, so it is a positive sum game.

well the price surge did happened already, so if he was waiting for that he must have missed it, buying at any 230-280 price, and dumping at 450-500, would have been the best trading

i quit too after 2 years but i never invested anything
and i made as much or more (same amount usd roughly)

i had to find 2 pennies to make 3 and so on..
try doing that.. what i did was hard.

taking 47 BTC to start with and walking away with a 7 BTC loss is not good.

i walked in with nothing and walked out with the same amount  Cool

i took me forever to get 1 LTC

i guarantee i learned more than he did LOL

Real simple, start trading here. Seriously though, maybe :
1) Invest in a gambling site, because of the house edge you'll win in the long run
2) Have a look at this post, as I'm not going to repeat something already said https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1153888.msg12165431#msg12165431
If you really dont want to trade anymore just invest somewhere online. Gambling sites are sure profit-makers. You can start your own mining (if you have the time and can afford high electricity bills). Or if you feel better about it, buy a piece of real estate. The price of real estate will not go down for the foreseeable future. Best of luck for whatever you decide!

why not simply get a job and in the meanwhile hold on to your current BTC till the halving. I am sure you will be more than happy with the amount of profit you will see on your holdings.

I bet anything you started with a seed fund.. i did not.

I started by using a Core2Duo E7500 CPU to mine for i gazillionth of an LTC coin.
I did not walk to my bank and withdraw a crap load of money then go trade and brag about riches..
The two are so different they are not even comparable.

One takes skill and the other takes a bit of luck (gambling)

You're right, Bitcoin is aggressively turning into a pyramidal enterprise. Not that it has somehow been much different from the start, but at least there was some hope back then and it wasn't as ostensibly evident...

Can't you read!? He said that he will quit trading. And not that he is looking for a job at an exchange and to continue trading. Regarding OP, look into Bitcoin related startups and try to find one that will give you a nice interest. If you believe in Bitcoin, then it's the right investment for you.

Trading are risky task just like gamble. I know if someone expert for trading, they might can turn loss into profit in a few day.
Anyway if you're really want to quit , you may donate some of your bits to charity and convert all the rest into your currency and save it into bank for your future need.

holding bitcoin is without much risks if you plan to hold your coins for at least a couple of years. day trading is quite risky as you don't really know what will happen. if you know how to read the market, then you can be successful in day trading.

Exactly 'he can left these coins in Dice or Poker'. Lose will happen more likely that huge win imo. Never tell someone to gamble with all his funds.
If he want to gamble, good option is to bet not more that 5%-10% or total coins, not more.
