I'm using the Light Wallet 2.5.7 and the IRI is 1.4.2.4. Shouldn't my IRI be the latest one?

Can I download a current snapshot of the tangle without synchronizing a full node? I remember there was a link some time ago, but could not find it.
Do you want to download IOTA db file? it's available here[1] i believe. may i ask why don't you let IOTA wallet download everything required?

I know IOTA well simply wouldn't expect that it be moved too quickly considering the huge supply.

This myth again...

Iota´s supply is only insignificantly higher than that of Bitcoin. Iota simply doesn´t use decimal places, hence it seems that much. You just have to take the smallest units of both cryptocurrencies (= 1 single Iota, not MI, GI, ... vs 1 Satoshi)

Bitcoin: 1,713,800,000,000,000 Satoshi ( <- rounded, max. 2,100,000,000,000,000)
Iota...: 2,779,530,283,277,761 Iota

That means there are currently only ~1.62x more Iota as Satoshi available. If Bitcoin would´ve reached it´s maximum supply, then this ratio would go down to 1.33x.

Any trouble changing node on your trinity wallets? I get an error saying "Error changing node. Node out of sync. Select another node". I have tried them all, none of them work. Any advice? thanks

Let's not forget to add bitcoin.  https://www.blockchain.com/pools
Large mining pools reside in a single country.
What if one day that government chooses to exert its power?

In time the coordinator will be removed.

yay the Bitcoin fanbois are here! Cheesy
just wait a few years, then you loudmouths will become pretty meek...!
Iota is clearly a "long-term" thing, but collaborations with big players and real world adoption are already increasing, week after week.

Iota looking for support first at $0.79, then at $0.67, then at $0.32, and finally at $0.15. If it breaks $0.15 the price will probably really crash.

For two and a half days in Munich, Germany, well-known companies such as BMW, Bosch, Volkswagen, Deutsche Bahn, Amadeus, Telekom and many more will seek to move beyond the hype and demonstrate how DLT can disrupt the mobility industry by demonstrating its potential first hand.

LOL IOTA doesn't even work with a centralized coordinator and you are talking about removing it!! Thats classic denial... OMG. Keep it! Stay strong now!  Grin

Satoshi didn't go with Tangle because obviously its a dead end.

You must be talking about a deposit/withdraw issue from a centralized crypto exchange.

IOTA works great, my transaction confirmed in 2 minutes.

Check https://www.iota.org/get-started/faqs
for answers like:
What is the Coordinator and why is it needed?
When will IOTA be able to remove the Coordinator?

Compared to btc, IOTA is undervalued.

IOTA will ever be cheap because it was not intended as a store of value or for speculation. intended for M2M communication but not sure about if IOTA is necessary in favor of. Lightning has the same functionality and can be used for M2M communication.

The Internet of things will be a trillion dollar industry, and perhaps the future will be bigger. I think iota can grow much more but they need to make it completely decentralized.

Is there a good (reliable) wallet which i can download and use? My IOTA is currently on Bitfinex and i'm unsure whether this is a good idea.

Posting a tar and a using certs to verify the owner of a file is easy and practically archaic. VW has been thinking of the over the air updates using IOTA; what are the benefits of this over just downloading from a site?

That is one of the funny things related to the project. It is not meant to be a store of value or even P2P payment. That's why the price is actually symbolic and it could be one of the projects with a broad usage even without increasing multiple times in value. The price peaks are purely speculative right now since most of the people don't even use any crypto project in any different way than to increase their wealth.

I read a bit of backlog and it seems to me that it has not been mentioned:

https://winiota.com/
THE FIRST DECENTRALIZED ON-TANGLE PROVABLY FAIR CASINO & AI ENHANCED SPORTSBETTING PLATFORM

from July 1st to July 14th Pre-Ico, and then from August 1st to September 1st Ico
the first Ico on Tangle Iota; initially the known Erc-20 will be released while in phase 2, Q3 2018, they will be converted 1: 1 in Tangle Iota, the first of its kind.

This is amazing news for Iota as well as its ongoing partnerships!

I'm currently comparing other IoT projects to IOTA, and it seems to me that IOTA really lacks critical features.

One of these is privacy: I mean, how can IOTA ever become the infrastructure of IoT if it can't guarantee privacy? Connecting IoT devices to a global network means sharing very personal informations, possibly more than what we share now on socials by means of our smartphones. What about our home devices? And health data?

Also I've been left to the status of IOTA in October 2017: at that time the wallet was having huge problems connecting and transactions didn't go through. How is the transaction time at the moment? Is it like 2 minutes as someone wrote above? If so, how do you expect IOTA to support IoT transactions? In IoT scenarios, embedded devices are expected to react relatively quickly to changes in the environment (think of house doors closing when I leave my apartment... 2 minutes looks like enough time for a thief to make it into my house).

There are excellent blockchain solutions popping up out there, look at IoTex: is IOTA going to be up to it? Honestly, I don't think so.

I doubt you really did a proper comparison or your research was sloppy.
