a 20-year-old who played brilliantly in every game was able to bring his team to beat the Rockets yesterday and now he is recorded in NBA history side by side with MJ
He becomes payers who quickly adapt and learn quickly. lucky Mavericks can have a classy young player like Luka Doncic

I wont let go this one. Just like what they did with Dirk.

That game against the Rockets, they also equal the record of the most halftime points.
They are now in 5 streak winning games and their last three games point was 142,143 and 137 against the Rockets.
Those are freaking high numbers.
Their offensive power is getting really high, KP and Tim are making a lot of free shots thanks to Luka.
too overpower for a 20-years-old lol if he can be consistent and not injured I think he deserves to be one of the MVP candidates.
--
By the way, Did you guys watching Bulls vs Portland Blazers? Carmelo Anthony's performance was extraordinary. he isn't finished yet! What do you think guys?

Giannis was not taken for granted dude. In fact, he is on the top 3 contender for the MVP race. Of course he can't be the MVP if the season is just starting and everything can happen along the way.

Maybe we are not talking so much about Giannis but for sure he is still one of the best contender for MVP this season.
He is the main point of attack to the team so he provide points but if they continue to do that, I doubt if they will have success in the coming playoffs.
Hopefully I am wrong and I will not see the same scenario last season, its opponent are not double teaming or triple teaming him this regular season but in the playoffs, they know how to minimize Giannis.

Opportunities are still open because the game is still long especially they just beat the Rockets! The competition in the Western does look very difficult but I predict Luka Doncic will bring his team at least to the playoffs, that's where the real match takes place
Of course, I know they can do it Smiley. It's just a playoffs. I mean, there are weaker teams below them so I don't worry at all unless he got a sudden injury which lead his team to a misery (*knock on the wood Grin). Mavericks is currently 11-5 securing the 4th spot and they can advance closer to the top if they win more games. But oops! Their next game would be against Clippers, what a challenge! Let's find out if they be able to get the 3rd spot fall down again.
there's always something unexpected in the NBA lol
yeah this will be a very interesting match, the Clippers has a solid player but seeing the current mavericks game is going to be a tight match, I will made a bet for mavericks tomorrow!

I watched  part of that game(I was watching Bucks vs Jazz too) , and yeah Embiid was atrocious.

Beside that game, imho he is a victim of Ben Simmons and his inability to shoot and bad coaching by Brown. I still think that 76s will have to sacrifice Simmons (who is a good player but not fit for 76s) and trade him for more suitable player(s) in order to have a chance of winning something, because with current roster there is no way they win anything in foreseeable future.

Regarding the Bucks vs Jazz, Giannis really benefited from Jazz missing Gobert( shame that such a  good player have 0 all star games) With him on the court, Jazz has best defense in the league, and there is a good reason he won 2x DPOY in a row. But even without him and despite Giannis having an excellent game, Jazz put up a good fight, and even had a chance of winning till the end.

Oh well, NBA media and fans are so hype with Luca's performance and his entering into the discussions for MVP. And now Giannis put on a show as if saying that he is the reigning MVP and he should get the proper attention and respect he deserves in this season.

Luka was now popular now because this guy suddenly average a triple double, ..compared to Giannis which he will not likely to average that, his chance will only be double double (points and rebounds) while Luka can always make points as he holds the ball, can shot outside consistently and can drive the ball with some euro steps movement, and he can rebound as well.

His triple double compared to double double of Giannis, I guess people will choose the emerging star.

Both stars are showing what they are capable of and at the end of the day, he who become this season MVP is mostly probably the highest points gathered. Luka might be leading right now in terms of average points per game but let's see if he can sustain this record for the rest of the season.

My top 16 MVP candidates in order:
1. LeBron James
2a. Giannis Antetokounmpo/2b. Luka Dončić
3. James Harden
4. Kawhi Leonard
5. Anthony Davis
6. Nikola Jokic
7. Joel Embiid

11. Ben Simmons
12. Kyrie Irving
13. Damian Lillard
14. Karl-Anthony Towns
15. Bradley Beal
16. Devin Booker

Do you agree with his picks? both Lebron and Giannis teams might hold the number spot in the west and east, but look.. Luka was inserted as 2b.

Somehow you could see some bias here.
He is a Laker so Lebron will always be at the top.
Yeah, Lebron might be getting better on his outside shots but there are stronger players now.
For me it would be.
1. Luka
2. Gianis
3. Harden
4. Lebron
5. Leonard - absences issues unlike Lebron who can complete a whole season

Give chance to the kids. Make them do more effort next year by giving them an award now.
That way other young players can see that it is possible to be an MVP at an early age.  Grin

We don't know what would happen, but I am pretty sure the Sixers are a pretty good team now compared to last season and Raptors downgraded as they lose Leonard, playoffs is way different than the regular season because in playoffs, we are talking about a possible 7 games where every game teams can and will adjust. Embiid might only having a bad night but let's always credit that also to Gasol which is known a good defender, IRRC, he won a defensive player of the year before.

yeah found it. https://www.hothothoops.com/2013/4/24/4263324/how-marc-gasol-beat-lebron-james-for-dpoy

Marc Gasol was named the 2012-13 NBA's Defensive Player of the Year as the Heat's own LeBron James finished second. Gasol can thank advanced metrics rather than the eye test for the award.

The season is too early and there's still a lots of possibilities to whoever deserving star to win the MVP title. For sure Giannis is not being forgotten so with Kawhai and Davis, Luka and Lebron might be getting too much attentions due to their individual performance so with harden, but again the league still
have a long way so it's everybody's opportunities.

Do you agree with his picks? both Lebron and Giannis teams might hold the number spot in the west and east, but look.. Luka was inserted as 2b.

I'm a bit confused about your reaction. Are you surprised why Luka was inserted as the 2nd option in the 2nd spot?
Or are you surprised because Luka "deserved" the 2nd spot alone?
Anyway, as much as I want Luka to win the MVP today, but I think LeBron has been great so far this season, and he's on his 17th year but still could dominate any teams in the NBA today.
On the other hand, Luka really deserves to be in the 2nd spot over Giannis. The way Luka plays, is like he's been in the NBA for quite a long time already, yet he's still a sophomore and a 20 year old. His basketball IQ is incredible. No doubt he grew up watching LeBron as he can do everything. Score, rebound, assist, and creates his own shots in a high percentage fg.
Well, we could see a much obvious result before the regular season ends.

is Giannis the Lock for mvp??  50 points??

Are we taking reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo for granted?

Giannis Antetokounmpo went for 50 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and two steals in the Bucks statement win over the Jazz. Milwaukee advances to an Eastern Conference-best 14-3 record behind the play of the reigning MVP, but it doesn't seem to be drawing much attention. Are we taking the Greek Freak for granted?

What a GREAT night for Giannis - that guy isnt human! Oh well, he is... proved that when he wasnt able to carry our Greek national team at FIBA WC but still... the whole country is proud of him - a great personality & sportsman, just impressive. I am crossing fingers he ll become MVB again! Smiley

Yeah that's it.
We are being dragged by the hype by now.
There are still contenders out there like James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard and Paul George also creating great numbers now.
Also there is Embiid with his double double every game but was just scoreless the last game against the Raptors.

Soon, everything will be easier to compute but for now let us just enjoy the game and the bets.
Too many losses. Damn teams suddenly wins after a losing streak.  Grin

Next game would be Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Maverick. Both team placed into a good spot. Clippers with 12-5 and Dallas on 11-5. On their first match up, mavericks win but this time I hope Luca do his best to came up with prettt nice offensive moves since they are playing on Clippers home court. Probably Kawhi will play on this game. What do you think? Even Clippers on their territory can mavericks overcome them?

[...]
Even if its still 10-15 games but the race for mvp has just started. So talking about whose going to be the MVP this season is a hot topic [...]
It is just too early. They can be performing extra impressive but if they got injured midseason, their ranking in the season will be erased by the healthy players in the race.

Next game would be Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Maverick. Both team placed into a good spot. Clippers with 12-5 and Dallas on 11-5. On their first match up, mavericks win
AFAIK they have not met this season yet. Preseason does not count.

Probably Kawhi will play on this game. What do you think? Even Clippers on their territory can mavericks overcome them?
It is not a back-to-back game so Kawhi probably will be playing. And if Kawhi will be guarding Doncic, I doubt he will be performing the way he performs on other teams.
