He totally regret his decision since he just waste his huge contract before and now he get back on lakers with disappointing $2.64m dollars in contract. I'm sure Pelinka is now laughing because he get Schroder at the most cheapest price which is total steal to them. And now for sure Schroder cannot get the $84m contract because at the moment his career seems to be doomed by that mistake.
Nothing that he can do now, maybe if he will play his best and Lakers management sees him deserves an additional year. Maybe, just maybe, on his next offer, they can give him something better than this one-year deal. For the Lakers bring him back there might be a chance on him to make on his previous mistake, if he will deliver what the team needed from him, for sure lakers will negotiate and give him another good deal, but yeah, $84M was already gone with the wind. That's something, look at Durant and the Nets, they paid him something like 100 million dollars so far and the best they got out of him was a first round exit, so at least Lakers are getting some cheaper fails than Nets lol. Sometimes teams do not fit good for each other and sometimes injuries do create a problem. Westbrook was just too used to playing a certain style of basketball and when asked to play something else he failed, which is understandable because you do not ask a 30+ year old to change his style that quickly, dude has been shooting threes and midranges like candy because he can't drive too much inside, and of course that was a problem, everyone could see it a mile away.

I wouldn't call that a Lakers fail. They just saved 80 million dollars and still got their guy. Granted the $84M they offered in the first place was insane, but it seemed like they were hell bent on overpaying someone to play PG. Russell Westbrook making $40 million to come off the bench is pretty crazy. Besides John Wall, who else has been given that kind of money to not play? The list has got to be pretty short one would think.

Dennis was part of those players that haven't got a contract, and he is just lucky that the Lakers have signed him up again and definitely, he still wanted to play in the NBA so he accept it although he could have been more than that a year or two ago.
And this is another lesson for those players that if they have been offered a good contract, no need to price themselves up because it might bite them in the ass.
Might be interesting though to see him with Westbrook on the floor or even Pat Beverly, not sure if there will be chemistry issues or not.
I'd choose another agent if I were him. He is called a veteran in every article that I read. Schroder is just 29 years old. Why would they accept this kind of contract while Eurobasket is not even over yet and they will be trying for the Bronze medal? If they win it, there's a chance his value could increase more and his agent didn't even wait for that moment. I think they just waited if they could win against Spain and if they do they will try to increase his value. That's some stupid decision. Obviously, the Lakers do want him because he is a good player but I am sad they accepted a cheap price. They are desperate so they will accept any offer they have. Anyway, they can view this as their way back to getting higher pay. Schroder has 1 year to prove that he can still be significant in NBA through this contract. A lot of players have been through this kind of contract and was able to get better paying contract later. Hopefully, Schroder can do it. He is still very young and have very much to show the NBA.

I agree that it shouldn't be the eye only to him but also to the others as well. But as the eye centers on Westbrook, it's because he's a star player and expectations to him are way up the highest than of those other players on the roster of the Lakers. The coaching staff? I don't think that there's anything to do with it, well if there is then that's very minimal and little to be considered. Otherwise, they really have to rotate and make decisions wisely for this upcoming season in almost everything where they've fell apart.
It definitely shouldn't fall only on Westbrook, he's just the biggest problem that is fixable. Anthony Davis' knees are arguably the biggest overall problem. If AD was healthy all season, they wouldn't have even needed Russ to make the playoffs... The coaching staff deserves some of the blame as well. Benching Westbrook at key points in close games isn't something you do to a superstar. It had to have shaken his confidence and opened him up to unnecessary criticism. Maybe AD will be healthy and the new coach will give Russ some confidence to be his old self again. Going into a contract year, he definitely has the motivation for a revenge season. Yes, it's arguable that Russ could come back and show revenge to everyone that hasn't shown some love for him. But can't blame those doubters of him. So, if he stays with the Lakers and there will be a new coach for them, I guess that's where he should bounce back and prove everyone wrong. It shouldn't be a blame game though as it's always a team play for this sport. But when there's a hole on the team, whether it's from the player, from the coaching staff, there should be ways of fixing it.

And Dennis will have to accept it, maybe he doesn't want to play in China or any other league but NBA. I guess his value is really going down since the last year when he turn down the contract from the Lakers, play with Boston and then send to Houston and that's it, no one is interested on him until the Lakers comes knocking on his door again.

It was this that came back to bite him in the ASS, as he could have returned way earlier than he actually did, but it is what it is, and nothing can be done about it. In spite of that, I have to say that the Lakers have had chemistry issues in the past few years with Lebron and Westbrook, so I am quite curious to see how this guy fits in with the new team in the coming years. If that is true then we all know why it went sour for him. A hypocrite player plus a bad agent is a recipe for disaster. I doubt he will get a better contract after this. He must show something different in this 1-year contract playing for the Lakers to please other teams and offer better than a veteran contract. He's already creating a new path by showing his skills again in the Eurobasket, he should've used that as his upper hand as there are many scouts lurking around that league to make offers to a lot of European players. Well, I bet he and his agent cannot wait anymore.

Now, he is scraping for whatever the Lakers want to give to him. He is still very young and if he shows that he still got the skills to become great he will soon get the pay that he wanted. Hopefully, he gets enough minutes in the Lakers to be able to show that. Otherwise, he will be scraping again next year.

It's difficult, but it's doable if he really wanted to adjust, and it's his obligation to work with the system, Looking to see if he is up for that kind of challenge or if he will continue the same playing style that he always has. Also, it's on the coaching part if they can work with him and mentor him on how to properly work with the role they'll be putting him, Westbrook is a scorer, but in the circle of the stars is the last take between LeBron and Davis.

Can the Lakers still offer Dennis with that same amount?
I think he is a legit player, he can even lead a team, it's just that he was too ambitious and ended up losing a big offer. If he will be given a chance, I think he will be a big help for the Lakers to be more competitive this season.
Yes, that's possible but for me, low chance. There might be an increase in the contract extension if he plays well but not maybe close to what has been offered to him before. Never heard of him doing a spectacular performance on other teams after Los Angeles Lakers. He is now more of a pure role player and not the main guy that can carry a team. I'm thinking, what if Westbrook will fail again and Dennis will provide what the team needs from Westbrook? For sure, he will get a big reward for that, will be offered will a big contract while Westbrook is gonna be up for a trade. It's weird but it's possible as Dennis is just a consistent player, more if he is given more minutes.

Westbrook has 1 more year in his contract if I am not mistaken. That means the Lakers could shoulder this if they are not pushing a championship this year. But that's not the case, they want the win now and rebuild later. Maximizing the strength of Lebron while he still has the speed and body to give them more trophies. WB is not a failure, he did what he can on a roster that is broken with injuries and less skillful roleplayers. Schroder on the other hand has something to prove, it balances their needs if ever the Lakers will keep WB.

It's now or never, after this season, if the Lakers will still fail to be in the championship, I think here will be a lot of changes in the team, and that would be trading some players, Westbrook will probably be the best candidate. WB is not a failure, he did what he can on a roster that is broken with injuries and less skillful roleplayers. He may not be a failure, but if they cannot maximize his skills due to the system of the Lakers that is not fit for him, there's no reason for them o keep him.

It looks like the Lakers' management is obviously up to something. At least for me, it was a surprise that they first announced the signing of Beverley, and now they decided to sign Schroeder as well. So the Lakers have a lot of point guard players on the roster right now. I guess the Lakers will either trade Westbrook or keep him but reduce his playing time significantly to use Beverley and Schroeder more.

I think it will still be Westbrook to play the PG with Schroeder, Pat might be used for his defense and to be a the main point guard. It Lakers are not going to used Westbrook then they will used him very often, just like last season wherein he plays a lot of games and minutes, but not enough to help the Lakers because of injuries and players under performing. At least if Westbrook is not playing good at PG, then they have Dennis to replace him, and who knows, he could provide instant scoring as Dennis can adjust to their new coach very easy.

Someone sign this guy. https://www.instagram.com/p/CioVQ92ARWG/DeMarcus Cousins. Slimmer and looks more fit. I doubt he will encounter another bad injury that will ruin his career. He is ready to wreak havoc again inside or outside. I wish soon he will be on the news or rumors about being signed by any team. He is working hard to be back in the front again. 32 years of age, not that old yet, he may be a good addition to any team that needs a rebounder, a body for boxing out, and who can shoot outside. His Nuggets run showed some improvement and I bet he will do better this season if ever he will be signed.

He added that he didn’t think he gave everything he could to the Lakers as he played alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who he considers “two of the best players in the NBA.” Schröder continued, “At the end of the day, I feel like for me, personally, I got to be comfortable in the environment I’m in. I love the Lakers organization and they did great things, but I think for me, and this is just business, I don’t think I fit in 100 percent.” https://hypebeast.com/2021/9/dennis-schroder-explains-why-he-turned-down-84-million-usd-los-angeles-lakers-deal-boston-celticsSo when he turn down that $84 million contract, him and his agent says that he is not a perfect fight with the Lakers. And now he change his tune, and agreed with a minimum contract? What a sudden change of event, isn't it. From "I don't what to play with AD and Lebron because I can't evolved and i don't need that money, to now, I'm fine with $2 million, show me the money!!!". Wow! Dennis Schroder is 29 years old but it does feel like he is really old for some reason. And I really can't explain why. And I really think that the price that they have accepted is actually okay. Not that cheap in my opinion. And with this price tag, he is going to be a really good value for money. But I hope that he will be able to perform well with the Lakers. But I hope at this age he has not become prone to injury. Staying healthy is going to be a big priority for him.

Signing Schroeder at that price is a lucky break fpr the Lakers. One that they badly needed too I must say. At least now they don't have to worry too much about an underperforming WB since they have someone willing to prove himself again. ... Slimmer and looks more fit.
Following the Howard strategy eh? Good for him. Maybe not a bad deal for teams if they can sign at minimum for a veteran.

They got lucky with that one, but at the same time Schroeder is also lucky as he might struggle to get a contract if Lakers did not signed him. It's his 2nd chance, I'm sure he can prove himself, but hopefully he will not decline a possible offer for extension. ... Slimmer and looks more fit.
Following the Howard strategy eh? Good for him. Maybe not a bad deal for teams if they can sign at minimum for a veteran. He is serious, he wants to be faster and less prone to injury, well, I understand him because teams would not sign a liability even if they know how talented Cousins is.
