Just funny though that in the beginning and if I still recall it correctly, some of us thinks that Wemby is just over hype rookie and we even put Chet above him for the rookie of the year as Chet is with a good team while Wemby's San Antonio is struggling.

But now we talk about his as DPOY which he is still a huge underdog against his country man @12.00, as compare to Gobert @1.02.

I guess we've seen him enough to say that he is no longer overrated as he has proved his skills already.

Maybe it has help him to play like he is expected to, the criticism he received made him better and now we are seeing the real beast in him. He is truly and Alien with a skills of an exceptional big man. he is still young, a lot of improvement he can do for himself and for his team, and as long as he keep himself healthy, the Spurs will likely be back to the playoffs again.

Odds now for DPOY, Gobert is still at the top, Wemby is next but not close.

I'm surprised to see Anthony Davis has fallen to number four on that list.  He was an early favorite to win DPOY after a great start defensively and I thought he was keeping it going.  He's even played in most of the games this season helping him shed the Street Clothes nickname.  I might have to take another look at the stats because I thought Anthony Davis was going to have his year, but now it seems that Gobert is going to win it again...  Not saying he doesn't deserve to win every year and his team is doing great, but I hoped we'd see a new name this year.

Gobert will likely win it as defense is only his main job to the team, compared to the other players below him which are Wemby, Adebayo and Davis who averaged 20 points more, Gobert only average 13.8 this season.

I don't think it was that everyone thought he was operated.  The problem with big men like that without the muscle mass behind it you tend to not be able to stay on the court.  He has done an incredible job navigating the physical toughness of the NBA and stay relatively injury free.  Time will tell but I think that's what most people worried about with him.

One thing to notice about the Malachi Flynn game is that dude managed to score 50 points with amazing efficiency, 18/25 fg is not what you are used to seeing from a 50 point game, and yet Pistons still lost the game. Do you know how bad you have to be to not win a game when just one of your players play like that?

I had no idea who he was before the 50 point outburst, which made him the lowest averaging points per game player to ever do it. He had to be efficient as I’m sure it wasn’t in the game plan for him to score so much. It will be interesting to see if he gets more playing time as a result or if it was just a one time fluke.

And Dirk probably one of the best power forward that changes the game itself. European that can shoot from the outside, we haven't seen that kind of players before and so Dirk revolutionized that position.

It should be noted that Dirk had a rather unique style of throwing the ball, which made his opponents unable to do anything against him, as it was very difficult to block Dirk's shot. This unique style, his size, and his ability to throw the ball from a distance are the reasons why Dirk was one of the best power forwards.

But I guess it's more on this defensive players really being consistent and that's where Rudy Gobert shines. He has been intimidating players this season, while AD and Bam and to some extend Wemby, just have games wherein they defense was magnified, in my opinion.

Since we are in the era where big men can shoot outside, they need someone like him who can stop those guys from sinking shots inside their range and also at the same time can decently contribute to the offense as well. This is a rare skill for a big man like him that's why he deserves that big payroll since he is showing them right now how much he is capable of. It looks like we will see more high-quality plays from him in the upcoming playoffs and the Western Conference is surely exciting this time.

My preference, like everyone else who has voted so far, is Mark Daigneault, without whom Thunder wouldn't have achieved these results. He used the roster very well. SGA may not win the MVP award, but he proved that he is one of the best 3-4 players in the league. I think he's still very underrated.

1. Joel Embiid returns, Sixers regroup

He’s back. Does that mean the Sixers are, too? There’s intrigue in Philly, where the Sixers are worth watching between now and … well, wherever the Sixers finish in the East.

Embiid was a strong Kia MVP favorite and the Sixers were the last team to occupy first place in the East before the Celtics took it for good. Then his knee injury cost him 29 games. The Sixers, as expected, dropped without him.

But now? The Sixers will try to finish top-six. Even if they don’t, they’ll be a strong favorite to emerge from the Play-In. Should that happen, they’ll likely see the Celtics or Bucks in the first round, which will make folks in those towns squirm. Yet Embiid must return to form in a hurry — easier said than done.

This is where I want to focus though as Embiid just came back. Later they will have a game against the Miami Heat and I think they need 1 more win to stick with the 8th spot and avoid having a tiebreaker with either the Chicago Bulls or the Atlanta Hawks. That way they will also have a chance to be in the 6th spot with either Miami Heat or the Indiana Pacers.
I bet the 76ers fans are curious if they can really make it with Embiid's status being on and off. Plus, I doubt the Miami Heat will just give this game away considering it will be played at their home, they will play strong and if Embiid does not play, it will mean a lot in the positioning for the playoffs.

7. Zion’s upsurge

All the jokes, memes and trolling that buried him following his flame-out in the In-Season Tournament semis have subsided. Not only is Zion Williamson healthy, but he also seems focused and is finally fulfilling some of the hope heaved upon him ever since those Pelicans employees danced on tables when he was drafted.

He’s shooting roughly 60%, averaging nearly 25 points and commanding double teams. He has been a force since the All-Star break. What this means: The NBA playoffs need Zion, and definitely vice-versa.

Zion had been playing great but they need Brandon Ingram to be a stronger team. The 5th and 6th spot are still being battled in a fierce way. Mavs, Suns, Pelicans, Kings, and the Lakers. They are trying very hard to be on the same positions.

He's very underrated and bringing the Nuggets to the finals and getting that chip last season is history. This time, they might get a back to back so I'd vote for him.

Warriors beat Rockets and secured their play-in spot. Şengün's absence deeply affected Rockets. They had a small chance for play-in, but Warriors had a good win streak so Rockets is out of the picture. We can still say they had a pretty solid season. They will be much better next year.
Good game between Nuggets and Clippers. It's like Western Conference semi finals preview. Nuggets started better but Clippers is playing well even without Kawhi. It would be a good series if they meet in play-off.

What's good with the Warriors is that, anybody from the team can just step up offensively if needed. In this game, we've seen Jackson-Davis, and Thompson helped Curry in offense. Wiggins had a bad night though with only 10 points, but as long as there's somebody who can helped Curry with the offense, this is a team to watch out with during the playoffs. I mean they're still the team that won the title in 2022. The starting 5 which is considered best at that time is still in tact and aside from that, they still have young players that can help the team in both offense, and defense.

I just hope that the Thunder or the Timberwolves will not be facing this Warriors team in the playoffs (if they clinch) because if there's the Miami Heat in the East that doesn't care about their standings, there's the Warriors in the West who has lots of experience in terms of playoffs.

They badly need that win and that is why I also bet on the Warriors. It's a win to bury the Rockets to the 11 spot and slim the opportunity to tie with them for a play-in tournament chance.

Klay Thompson, that's the guy that I loved watching back before he was injured. 7 of 11 three-pointers were made gaining 29 points in just 29 minutes of game time. How about Trayce Jackson-Davis? Let's not forget about that guy who dominated under the rim. 20 strong points.
Almost every Warrior player recorded a point today and only one didn't during garbage time.
The Rockets are strong, I don't doubt them but without Sengun, the defense is focused only on Jalen Green, and look what happened, he only scored 13 points. Very different from his past few games where he is dominating.

The Rockets doesn't have the chance if I'm not mistaken, but still the Warriors should win their remaining games, 6 games remaining for them, but still there are though teams, like the Mavs (which they beat already), Lakers and the Pels, so they could go 3-3 in their last 6.

But it's all good, Looney coming from the bench and same with CP3, still there is depth.
