Kuminga averages just 12.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Although he is still early in his career and has likely not yet reached his prime, his current stats make this contract quite reasonable. In cases like this, players are better off not being greedy; otherwise, they might end up with a minimum contract, or none at all.
It might be that they are testing his potential as to what the picture will be with him and Anthony Edwards. Yes he just average 12.2 ppg because he was not given enough playing time by the Atlanta Hawks as they have a lot of players with similar position. And now that Naz Reid has been traded, perhaps the Timberwolves needs another scorer and they think that Kuminga could be that guy. He is still sharpening his skills and could still has a lot of potential and bright future ahead with the Timberwolves here.

He has hit 30 points in a few games while not being a teams number 1, that's hard to do when you're not the primary scorer on a team and basically a role player. They give him enough opportunities and he can deliver. I'd like to see Edwards get deep in the playoffs this year personally, this may be the piece that he needs to get him there.

Kuminga really have capabilities to explode but the problem is his inconsistencies, he want to be the star player of the team and asked for much bigger rule. This is the reason why he always got a conflict with his former teams. Well let's find out if he became a perfect team player on Wolves. Knowing that they have Lamelo and Edwards sharing ball together. But good that he seems to be their starter and this is good start for Kuminga, since he can able to prove his self and maybe his career will get revive then if they succeed maybe he could able to retain his current role and much bigger contract that he usually wants.

2 years for $13 million, isn’t that quite low compared to what he could potentially make? I’m surprised Kuminga ended up accepting that kind of deal because I thought with his talent he could make more. I’m also curious why Atlanta didn’t keep him because I think he was doing pretty well there.

Look at the amount offered to him by the spurs.. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/46416429/sources-kuminga-appear-media-day-deadline-loomsThe Warriors have kept their three outstanding offers on the table, sources said. The two most lucrative -- two years, $45 million and three years, $75.2 million -- include team options on the final season, and the only offer without a team option is for three years and $54 million. he left the team because he was looking for a bigger contract, now he end up signing that small contract. reminds me of Shroeder About this stats, not a big difference compare to this stats with warriors, but they offered him big contract, ( maybe he got greedy).. now... ?

The problem is GSW slows down the development of Kuminga, he's not been used well due to bad fit on their system. If kuminga just released early, who knows what other things he could do. But since he's been signed by Wolves now, well I guess this is his time to showcase his talent and show to the world that GSW made wrong decision not to give him lots of minute and also for trading him. I think its good that he didn't choose Lakers, because they have so many issues now. Maybe he might feel what Westbrook experience on which he became an escape goat before on Lakers when they are not winning and their performance is so messy.

If Kuminga wasn’t happy with his role in Golden State, he isn’t going to be happy playing with Ant. Golden State has great ball movement and a lot of experience. Kuminga had a shot at being the man with his last team and they didn’t want to keep him. He’s going to be one of those guys who is out for himself and hurts locker rooms.

--- he left the team because he was looking for a bigger contract, now he end up signing that small contract. reminds me of Shroeder About this stats, not a big difference compare to this stats with warriors, but they offered him big contract, ( maybe he got greedy).. now... ? This is what happens when a player looks himself as something like he's an important piece to ANY teams. It already happened to Schroeder, and I'm not even surprised that it happened to him as well. In fact, I've already seen it coming that it will be the same. How? If there's a team that really wants him, they will prioritize him over anybody else out there. The problem is that, there might be some teams who want him, but his asking price is just too much for them especially now where teams are thinking twice or thrice now when it comes to giving contract because of the CBA. The asking price of Kuminga is too much for all teams that's why they don't want to pay him, and TBH, he doesn't deserve it. Well, he gambled, and he lost the gamble hence, he's now alongside an athletic all-star in Edwards and Ball. I just don't know though if he's a great fit on the team. If he's not then they can just simply trade him especially with that kind of contract that he has. You said greedy, eh? Yeah he's very greedy. He's looking too high on himself where in reality, he's not even a priority to ANY TEAM.

Jonathan Kuminga has agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota is signing the young athletic guys. They should be exciting to watch in the upcoming season. I’m not sure how many games they’ll win, but with Kuminga, Ant, and LaMelo, they’re going to have some highlights.
Am I the only one who thinks this offer is pretty low? I feel like J.Kuminga has the potential to play like Anthony Edwards. He just hasn't been given consistent playing time and enough opportunities to show what he can really do. He played pretty well in Atlanta, so I'm wondering why they didn't just give him a better offer instead of letting him go. I honestly think $13M for two years is pretty low considering his potential. Jonathan Kuminga has huge potential and is a very talented young star. I think with the right roster, he could be one of the team's most valuable players and provide great support to the team in the playoffs. Considering that, the salary you mentioned is certainly very low; we see far less successful players earning much more. I think it's an interesting contract, and it's somewhat surprising that he accepted it. If he can reach the potential expected of him, he will be much more valuable

What do you guys think? Can Pat Riley pull off another miracle? Personally, I don’t see how he could possibly acquire either of these guys with the assets he has. The path to get Steph exists though. If Steph plays out his contract this year, he could sign with the Heat for the minimum next year. I think that is Steph’s path to a ring if he wants one.

That is gonna be an exciting team indeed. But if it will lead to many wins or even a conference final, I doubt it seriously. I also feel this will be Edwards final year in Minny. 2 years for $13 million, isn’t that quite low compared to what he could potentially make? I’m surprised Kuminga ended up accepting that kind of deal because I thought with his talent he could make more. I’m also curious why Atlanta didn’t keep him because I think he was doing pretty well there. True. His name floated more during his stint with the Atlanta Hawks. Whenever I see the thumbnail used for the highlights of the game, it was always him who was used because he is the best player on the team in that game, even if they lose. I really thought he would stay there and you are right; the offer was too small, unlike what the GSW would give him if he did the sign-and-trade. $20m, if I am not mistaken. To add, he was looking for minutes and floor time. Maybe the Timberwolves promised him those things, which is why he accepted even if it's a small contract. The Timberwolves are jam-packed now. I would not be surprised if they are back in the Semi-Finals again, or maybe more.

With Kyrie, I think it's possible. He's got some good forwards there that he can play with. But for Steph, it might be an unlikely one. It also depends on Steph's choice if he wants to play there. So for both, it's no longer about whatever contract they can offer to them although it still matters. Yet, it's about their desire if they want to play for Heat's franchise.

Never gonna happen. I haven’t seen this rumor about Steph Curry going to the Miami Heat yet, but Kyrie Irving was all over my news feed yesterday, with rumors saying that he could be heading to Miami. I don’t think Dallas can afford to let Kyrie Irving go, especially since they desperately need point guard right now. That was one of their biggest problems last season, they didn’t have reliable point guard, which made their team struggle so much. If Kyrie Irving can stay healthy this season, I think Dallas has a good chance of making the playoffs this year.

These are probably just fake news. You know the Heat are already a championship contender on paper, so people will make more speculation about them because they know fans will click and talk about it. Not only Dallas cannot just let Irving go, but Miami also cannot afford to trade too many more players after already giving up a lot for Giannis. Two superstars being traded to Miami in such a short time is very unlikely. I think the Giannis traded to the team is already enough for now. Let’s see this coming season if this team can really make it to the Finals.

I saw a lot of that kind of news on social media and when I check it out, I can't find any reliable source. So it's obvious that someone has just made that one up. Not only Dallas cannot just let Irving go, but Miami also cannot afford to trade too many more players after already giving up a lot for Giannis. Maybe Miami needs a good guard, but they can't afford the caliber of Kyrie for now. And if ever they want to pursue him, then it will take a lot of great players in their roster. For now they look good in paper already. It's just a matter of execution and Miami has a lot of history of making a average team better, what's more with superstars like Giannis, Bam and Klay with them.

Not possible, Kyrie is making around $39M this season if I’m not mistaken, while the Heat only have around $10M of breathing room. And another thing, I don’t think Dallas will trade him. We already saw how they struggled after making the Finals before, so they really need Irving to pair with Flagg. For me, this sounds more like fake news or just another trade rumor.

That’s a lot, and I think it is only possible if a trade happens. But under the current situation, Miami has already traded some players, and getting Irving would probably require sending out a bunch of players just to match the salary. So what would be left with the team after that? For me, this is not really happening unless Dallas somehow wants Giannis in return, which is obviously impossible.

NO THEY CAN'T. Kyrie? Nah. Steph? Nah. Why? They don't have any cap space anymore to sign all-star players like either of them. Also, the Heat don't have any attractive players to trade just to get Kyrie, and let's forget Steph right now because it's impossible for him to go to Miami. I don't see any good trade packages that would satisfy the Warriors. The good thing though is that, they might not get a PG right now, but they could get one next season after this upcoming one. Giannis has a Player Option in his last year, and if he wants to win in Miami, the best thing that he can do is to opt out of it, have a big pay cut just like what Brunson did so that they will have cap space to sign a guard. Something like Fred VanVleet which will be a FA next season, or they could get Kyrie during that time since he will be a FA as well. Others are Jrue Holiday, or even bringing back Herro. Pay Cut. That's what Giannis needs to do next season in order for them to sign a reliable PG.

Irving will earn $39 million with the Mavs next season. It's also worth noting that his current contract with the Mavs includes a player option worth $42 million for the 2027-28 season, which I don't think he'll pass up. So the possibility that the Mavs might suddenly trade Irving to the Heat or any other team really does seem unlikely.
