I won't put too much blame on Jonathan Kuminga for that move. There may be other reasons why he badly wants out of the Warriors. Let's remember, Draymond had trouble with his teammates, and one of them was Jordan Poole getting a punch to the face. It's a possibility that Kuminga was also not being treated well by his teammates or the management.

Also, there's no talk about his agent. Aaron Turner. Although he did explain the whole career trajectory, according to him, it's all Kuminga's choice.

So, it could be that he is not up to the money. There's a possibility that he wants his name marked and remembered in the NBA, which I think is a good thing. Very few will do this because it's always about the money, the contract, and how well they will make before their retirement. Some don't even think about championships anymore as long as they get good contracts.

I won't judge Kuminga. If the Wolves win this season, some would probably say he made the right choice.

For winning a championship, yes, but I don’t think that is the main goal of most players. I’m pretty sure most of them first want to make as much money as possible in the NBA, and winning a championship comes after that.

In his case, he did not get the contract he was expecting. So even if he wins a championship now, it does not really change his current deal because that contract stays valid until it expires. And we also know the bonus for winning a championship is not that big compared to what players can earn from a better contract.

It already happened several times before with different players, so I wonder why they still don’t learn from it.

If a player is already offered around $20M per year or more, that is already a huge amount of money. At least before rejecting it, they should already know if there is another team willing to give them a better deal.

The problem is some players believe too much in what they think their value should be, without considering how the business side really works. Once the market changes and the offers disappear, regret comes in, and that kind of mistake is hard to undo.

Maybe they are confident that a team will offer them with a higher salary that their previous team are giving them. That's why they didn't sign in the first place. And it's obvious that they are looking for more money because they believed in their talent.

And they doesn't care about the business side of it. As they are thinking that team owners have a lot of money in the bag and they are willing to spend it to them. But there are exceptions and that there are players that really made that bad decision. Not over though for Kuminga, 2 years is good enough for him to show and proved that he is worth the money that he is asking.

This word “maybe” is fine if used correctly, but it should be calculated well, otherwise it can end up as a mess.

It is just like running a business, you don’t invest and start something if you don’t believe you can succeed. And it should not be based on pure belief alone, it should be backed by proper study. In his case, I don’t think they studied the situation well enough, and that is why their expectation failed. Now it is a lesson learned the hard way, because that $22 million a year he turned down will be very difficult to get back.

Aside from believing to their talent too confident, and their ego got the best of it, they sure know it happen to other players maybe they are so hard headed they don't think it will happen to them until it happen, and for sure even though they get the contract and being able to play unlike being a free-agent or no team, they have regrets over it.
Lots of players has no team because they turn down offers, remember it seems that teams are now looking for a person or player that is not hard to communicate with, if they see your attitude specially you are not a 5 star player or a player they can rely on, they will not hesitate to reject you.

He's time should be in the GSW uniform which is not given by kerr there is a lot of question if he can still play better since he is being trade now to his third team, lets hope he's skills are still there or his confidence is not the same anymore, because if a player is not been given the opportunity, their style and play changes, because of being in the bench, and will result to not being a good player in the long run and end career early.
That is the big question why Kerr never give him the time. Perhaps their priority is Jimmy Butler that time because after Butler got injury if my memory serves me right, he was given and he did good in some games.

But I guess his decision to leave the time is final. But then again, he wasted that opportunity to get a lot of money. And now sitting for just a two year contract and way below on money that he wanted. So it's a question too on why he accepted the offer from the Wolves.

I heard a rumor before that it’s due to his playing style. Kuminga preferred an isolation type of play in which he wants to get ball most of the time which is not suitable on GSW system in addition to Curry, Butler and Green gets the priority for ball time.

He is a very bad defensive player and most importantly due to his inconsistency.

Simply, he doesn’t want to follow Kerr system so in the end they just bench him. It’s dumb to go against the team system that works for them for a long time.

As what I know Kuminga issue on Warriors is his inconsistencies, also not being fit on the system they implemented.

Actually if you search it, there are many article written about the reason on why Kerr didn't let him play.

Actually Kuminga have a 2 option at that time, that is to sign the huge contract given then try to learn their system and adapt. Then last is to leave and try to explore on other team. But he choose the second one and now we are seeing him, still proving his worth.
