With all the drama on the Clippers, meanwhile, the Rockets give Amen Thompson an extension worth $208M for 5 years, with no player or team option. Well, his offense and hustle on defense keep improving, a bit dirty, lol.
Do you guys think he is worth that much or deserved it? Does he have that much potential that the Rockets gave him that extension or are they just being generous?
It doesn't matter if it's me if he's worth that much or he's deserving that. Because if I am in shoes, whatever the Rockets will offer me I'll take it. After all of the news of those players thinking of getting a max, they got nothing instead. There's more to this guy and that's what the Rockets are believing him on, I agree with Logitech that he has to improve shooting and other than that remain to be physique. Despite that they've got a packed of roster and some stars, they're giving him a window with that contract and it also increases his potential trade value in the future. I like how he play defense and he is also can score points, that is why i have high hopes for him, i dont think he is a dirty player though he is just too agressive in defense but for sure he is not intentionally trying to hurt someone while playing, they juat have to be more experience and learn to let things go with the flow.

The talent is already there.. defense, rebounding and shot blocking. If he suddenly becomes a consistent scorer too, then that’s already a different kind of player. I think it’s better for him to keep focusing on what he does best because that kind of defensive talent is already hard to find. By the way, what about his twin brother Ausar? Do you think he can also get a huge contract like Amen?

It depends on how he perform and how Detroit management trust him. If it happens that he achieve lot of things and meet the requirements, maybe Piston might decide to give him a big contract to.

Well we don't want to wish anyone getting hurt in the NBA not just Wemby. But it looks like the management of Spurs are really doing a good job on him. As they might be slowly building his body and not forcing him to gain that needed weight.
As compare to let's say Zion, who is also a physical specimen. But his body is not reacting to the demand, and even if he lose that weight and gain more muscle, still he is getting injured and not really getting into his full potential.
Unfortunately, injuries are an inevitable part of the game, especially in the NBA, where the regular-season schedule is too packed. As for Zion, he’s physically much stronger than Wemby, and he had a lot of potential early on, but at some point he went overboard with the burgers. Speaking of his injury-proneness, losing weight would be beneficial for him, as it would reduce strain on his legs and, consequently, his risk of injury.

I believe Zion was healthier last season, but sadly they still were not able to reach the playoffs. Still, that’s already a good start because after all the injuries he suffered, he seems more careful now even though he is still very explosive. Maybe next season they will have a better chance, who knows. But if Zion keeps missing the playoffs, I just hope he doesn’t waste his talent staying with a team that cannot really compete.

They have traded Brandon Ingram and really set their eyes on Zion as their franchise player. But this has been the case for him for years, he will play good at the start and then got injured and missed games and the team not reaching the playoff. I don't know what his contract says, but this could be the last year of Zion with the Pelicans if he can't really deliver. We can say that he has wasted his talent, but no one can control even if he takes precautions to not get injured.

I am hopingthe same for Anthony davis and other players, I hope we can see a conference with healthy players. no more injury.

He is performing well before he adjusted his role to PG when Rockets don’t have reliable PG anymore during Vanvleet injury. This makes Rockets performance decreased drastically especially during the playoffs when they are struggling to safely hold the ball just to maintain their lead. Amen has the hustle to play. If only they have a solid PG I believe he can unleash his full potential. I believe they can be a top contender again on full roster.

It was a surprised that Ben Simmons has been given another chance to play. The question is, does he still has it to be that good player that he used to be with the Sixers? The let go of DeRozan and then replace him with Ben Simmons? Not sure what is going on with the Kings, but they could be one of the worst franchise behind the Clippers as they can't get anything going even if they have a good and solid team before. There is also talks the Sabonis wanted out.

With his length and ability to handle the ball, he can still be useful in certain situations. Let’s just see how it goes. After such a bad season, that team is probably willing to experiment with different players and see who can still contribute, even guys who looked almost useless before.

I really thought he was gone for good. I mean, he might play, but not in the NBA anymore. Maybe the Australian league and the Australian Team (Boomers) during world events. He will not be playing yet, but it seems like the Boomers are expecting him to be on their roster next year for the FIBA World Cup (Qatar). He is lucky that some team still tried to take a risk and give him a contract. It may not be that big, but it's a good contract that could help him show that his physical health is now okay after the rehabilitation. The Sacramento Kings seem to be very optimistic about him.

Wow is he really making a comeback good for him, there are still team that make an interest to sign him, if only he is playing the same and still in the sixers what a team could that be, besides he is the sixers 1st pick before why he did not make an inquiry on the opening spot they might consider him to be back. If he really is now clear with what others call mental health issue that is a very good development he could be back in his old form,

If he really is now clear with what others call mental health issue that is a very good development he could be back in his old form,
I remember that was his issue, and honestly that’s more serious than an injury because an injury just needs time to heal, while this kind of problem can affect his whole career. He is really an exceptional player, the weaknesses I see are his free throws and three-point shooting, but from mid-range he is a good shooter. His ball handling and defense are also there, so I can understand why teams would still take a chance on him. And since they are not paying him that much, I think it’s a fair deal, it’s only for one year anyway. If they are not satisfied with his performance, they can simply let him go.

Owners usually focus more on his production than on his issues, and if you look at his career numbers, the decline is really obvious. Philly: 15.9 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 7.7 APG. Nets: 6.5 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 6.3 APG. Clippers: 2.9 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 3.1 APG. So even with that record, the Kings are still interested in him. Damn, 2.9 PPG is really low, so scoring is obviously not what they expect from him. Maybe they still see value in his rebounding, passing and defense, and think he can contribute in those areas even without scoring much.

We will see what role he is going to fit in. Yes, maybe from if he will be given time, they could be looking at his play making, assists and rebounds. Never mind the outside shooting or 3 points as he is not well known for taking those. And he could deliver at least one highlight pass every time he play, that could be good enough for the team to contribute and win some games. Just like any other players that has given a one year contract next season, he needs to take that and proved himself that he still belongs to the NBA.

If he wants to, he can significantly improve his skills in both free-throw and three-point shooting drills. Honestly, though, it’s surprising that an NBA team was willing to take a risk and sign him. Personally, I can’t recall any players who left the NBA, whether due to injury or, even more so, mental health issues, and then returned to become even better than they were before. So I’m skeptical about Simmons’ return.

i used to say that Minnesota needed to stop being a romantic chaos team and build a genuine basketball architecture. otherwise, we’d spend a few more years repeating the same phrase: like man, they’re actually a super dangerous team, but something is still missing... looks like the team took that personally and made moves this summer specifically to address it last season, everyone was trying to do a bit of everything. this season, if everyone just sticks to their own role, the team will be much better off.
