Personally i don't think Kawhi is worth that amount of money, but that's just me because I don't like him and with all the injuries and so on I think it's just too much risk. Maybe he will prove me wrong but let's see. About Duren, yeah this story is actually ridiculous. I mean where was he in the playoffs? He was a total no show and now he is demanding more than a bag. 200 million is already ridiculous for a player like him but thinking he is even worth more is just hilarious. I hope Detroit will put a stop to that farce soon.
In the NBA today, even average players, and sometimes those below average, are earning salaries that many top players in the 2000s could only dream of. In my opinion, NBA players have become too spoiled by all the big money. As for Duren's situation, his decisions, whether driven by greed or something else, will ultimately not lead to anything good for him. There's a risk that in the future, neither the Pistons nor any other team will offer him a similar contract again. Sometimes these players feel too important. Some just want to secure their future, and I don't blame them for that since basketball players retire at an early age. However, the Detroit Pistons will be making the wrong decision if it goes up even more. It's not like he is a superstar right now. Duren should really accept that, or he won't have any contract at all. Just one more week before training camp starts, and I bet many free-agent players are also itching to get their spot. They might even accept small offers just to be on a team. If somehow the Detroit finds a role-player center, Duren will have problems. Detroit showing this kind of weakness is not good for the team.

So young and dumb but I think the broke part will may come later. Pistons has been so generous with that offer or his manager or Duren himself is the issue. He's so full of himself I guess when he even can't prove anything yet at this level, his playoffs performance was basically so unforgivable he's been babysit by WCJ or it was even Ausar that do the defensive stats he should've been doing on the paint. With that kind of attitude, he'll sure be traded. That's true about the pay cut, these superstars are for the legacy and the ring so props to them. It's for sure that the Pistons has been so generous with him. They're looking for a talent that will also help Cade to put the team into a finals once again. But this is an interesting story and we'll see how it ends. We are in an era where all-star players are being forced to have a pay cut to increase their chances of winning a title. Jalen Brunson is the prime example of this one, and maybe we can include Wemby as well with that new signed contract. The negotiation isn't going anywhere and up until now, we still don't know what will happen with the 2 parties. The deadline is October 1st, and I'm thinking that Duren will suck the sh*t of every dollar that he can then in the final day, he'll sign that contract anyway. I'm thinking that he's bluffing at this moment because... who in the hell thinks that he's worth $287M dollars aside from him? Especially after he played in the playoffs? Now I'm just hoping that the Pistons will not give him the max contract because HE DOESN'T DESERVE IT. October 1st. Wait for that date then after that, we will see the ending of this saga. If Duren signs for that qualifying offer, expect him to be on another team next season. For me though, I would just get that guaranteed $200M for 5 years. I mean even though I get injured, I will still be paid. Good luck to him. The offer is still in the table unless it is the Pistons that's trolling him that if he decides to sign it, they'd say that the offers gone. And he should just wait for the trade offer for him and get ready whatever is left for him. But that's just an assumption so, the part of waiting gets more exciting.

There's a risk that in the future, neither the Pistons nor any other team will offer him a similar contract again. It happen because NBA is already earning huge profits from their global viewers. Then its really ridiculous for other player like Duren for ignoring such high offer. Because that's one time big time opportunity in his life that he get such huge contract from his team. I don't know if his decision is driven by greed. But it seems that his ego has been hit by this offer, since this issue escalates when Thompson gets much bigger contract compare to him. While he's the number two option in their team. He's future is truly at risk in this standoff, since no matter what happen. Piston management will stand, while him he's career might fall down and he can't receive similar offer huge offer.

Lonzo Ball made it seem like he is done with his NBA career on a podcast appearance. While he did say he would play if he got the call, he made it seem like he can’t physically perform the task anymore. A shame. A lot of people say his Dad making him wear garbage BBB shoes is what led to his injury.

I don't see any player in the NBA doing the same today. And Duren should have taken that offer. I can almost see where this is heading. He'll regret it as soon as a major injury hits him.

TBH, I don't know if he's worth the money that he got in Toronto like you said, but he stated at one point that he wants to retire in Toronto, and it seems like Toronto likes him as well especially after leading the team towards it's very first title in 2019. As for the injuries, like you there's that big "IF" as well, but we can't deny the fact that IF HE'S HEALTHY, he's an all-star type of player who can still lead a team. His performance last season is the prime example for that one though there's always a big IF when it comes to him though. As for Duren, this is the reason why the risk is on him right now, and I will not be surprised if a few days before October 1st, he'll be forced to sign that $200M contract because he's betting too much on himself at this state of the negotiations already. He's young, he's athletic, and yes he's a core piece to the 60-win Pistons last season, and he also made the All-NBA team, but he's not worth a max contract especially after that miserable playoff-performance. For me, Duren is the type of player where he could be a big piece towards a title-contending team, but not the type of player where you can build a team around him and could get a max. That $200M is already huge especially we are at a point where all-star players are even being asked to take a pay cut. I'm predicting that he'll sign it, but within the final days before he could sign that qualifying offer.

^ I’m still waiting for the first guy to make a million dollars per game. It might be Kawhi next year if we’re talking games played. Lol
I thought it would be Luka who got to $82 million per year first, but it could also be Wemby.
POLL QUESTION? Who do you guys think will be the first player to reach a 1 million dollar per game salary?

These 3 are on my top list of players that will likely be the first to reach $1M per game. It's either Luka, Antman, or SGA. These 3 are still under 30. There is Jokic and Giannis as well, both in their early 30s. In the younger generation, there is Wemby, as long as he stays healthy. I can't say for Cooper Flagg yet. I feel like it's too early to say it. Next season, the highest salary is held by Curry, which is $62.5M. If only Curry is in his early 30's, I'd bet he will be the first player to have a $1M per game salary. Imagine, someone is earning $1M by playing less than 40 mins. That's already a regular person's salary for a decade or longer. Damn, I can't say anything but what a life.

Perhaps his interview on the podcast might have hint of him retiring. But he says he is not, although he admit that his injury is devastated him in thinking of maybe quitting. But he still has some time on him to play. It's a shame though that he didn't reach his peak because of that injury. But we've seen many players that really proved that they can go back again but it won't be the same version of them.

Zach Randolph claims he spoke with Russell Westbrook's brother and he said that Russell isn't done yet and may come back to join the Miami Heat and try for a title. I do think Russ has a little bit left in the tank and I don't mind seeing him chase championships. I do think he's in a little bit of a Kawhi situation, where his averages are his claim to fame, so having a few bad seasons at the end of their careers could really hurt their legacy. I don't think Russ cares, but I do think Kawhi does.
Yes, I think Russ still has a lot from him, it's that a team that will pick him up should give him some playing time. Maybe not a starting five position, but coming from the bench with at least 20 minutes of time is still going to be good for Russ. He still has the legacy though, MVP, triple doubles during his prime years and those highlight dunks every night. So it's good to hear that at least there is still a chance, even small that he can make a comeback to the NBA before finally retiring. This might depend on the salary or the condition of the team, in my opinion Russ just want to clear the air, every where he goes he has been the issue or at least the news are making him look bad in the fans mind, he clearly always giving his best every game, but i don't know why some casters are throwing shades about him. I would love him to see more in the floor although i will not be able to see the prime russ in OKC still one of my favorites, OKC just wasted his prime years never tried to acquire a replacement when KD departure, instead giving russ wash players

It started with the Lakers though, that notion that he is being blamed for everything. But if you look at the Nuggets when he played, he indeed show flashes of his old self. It was really one of the best team in the West during that time, prime KD and WB, however, it was not enough as again, they have to face the new face of the league that time which is the Warriors lead by Steph.

Yeah that's crazy. We've seen several contract meltdowns like Schroder, who turned down the 4-year $84M contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. I don't know what these players are thinking. I'm kinda confused whether they've become greedy or think they're so valuable that any team could top those offers. And the crazy part is, they are not even interested in investing that much to improve themselves. As for the Schroder case, as far as I recall, he was swayed by his agents at the time, who convinced him to turn down the offer from the Lakers. Schroder himself initially seemed to want to sign that contract, but his agents reportedly insisted that he could have received more than $100 million on the free-agent market at the time.

LeBron invested more than $1m every year in his body and mind conditioning, and it is actually underrated. People think it's easy to have the longevity and athleticism he has currently. I don't see any player in the NBA doing the same today. And Duren should have taken that offer. I can almost see where this is heading. He'll regret it as soon as a major injury hits him.
And from what I read, it was also the same case with Jonathan Kuminga as his agent is the one making the final decision for him. Just imagine if he is still with the Warriors and doesn't have that kind of attitude to request for more time and more money. I guess, it's win lose situation if you have a good agent to begin with in the NBA. I know that it's a big league but for sure there are also tier list of agents. The likes of Rich Paul for example is on the top, and he shows that he is also a good adviser of players under him like Lebron James.

He is claiming that he was swayed by his agent on later year after he realized that he do a big mistake on not signing the contract. His earlier statement is because he doesn’t want to play with player like Lebron that outshine him and he is seeking higher contract on other team that he will value more. I doubt he can be easily swayed by an agent with that huge amount of money on the table without his approval to do such things. Assuming that his agent truly suggests it then he still have a call to follow it or not. It’s still on him.

That is a bad decision if that's true making his agent bypass him i would fire him and file a case against him, but for sure that is not the case, maybe he taught some teams would offer higher because the lakers are offering him a bigger offer, he forgets that LeBron is in the team. He is a facilitator that means they will share for the spot, if he did not think twice and signed it he would have stay with the team and no matter what happen the $100M is secured, let this be a lesson for Duren, he is still young prove himself and for sure the pistons will give him what he wants.

Lonzo Ball made it seem like he is done with his NBA career on a podcast appearance. While he did say he would play if he got the call, he made it seem like he can’t physically perform the task anymore. A shame. A lot of people say his Dad making him wear garbage BBB shoes is what led to his injury.
I think I need to say this one, but I've already know from the start that the injury of Lonzo is very brutal that he affected him both physically and mentally. Imagine only having a torn meniscus to having complex surgeries, and at one point he needed a cartilage construction, and based on statistics, a player that had kind of surgery always ends up in their career getting affected negatively, and Lonzo isn't an exception. Well, the good thing is that, Ball made history as the only player who logged in minutes and still played in the NBA after both meniscus and cartilage transplants. It's unfortunate that it happened to him because his stint with the Pelicans was his best and that's the time where his shooting form changed. Well, injuries to happen and it's pretty much normal. It's just that, Lonzo's case is very rare, and we might never see a case like him in the near future. As for him retiring, no team wants him anymore after what happened to him, and TBH, I also doubt if there will be a team overseas that still want him after the injuries and the surgeries that he got.

I asked Grok which player would likely be the first to make $82,000,000 in a single season. The answer wasn't that surprising (although I thought it would be Wemby).
Anthony Edwards, if he makes an All NBA team this year and plays more than 65 games, will be eligible for a supermax contract that would pay him $82,000,000 in the 2030-2031 NBA season.
There is a possibility that a new collective bargaining agreement in the NBA changes this timeline, but currently it looks like Ant will be the first to make a million per game.

The last news I saw said he had completely ended his basketball career, that he didn't want to deal with injuries anymore, and that he had earned enough money and was now going to pursue different things. Of course, those who reported this might be lying; it's hard to trust sources that are only online He's still very young, and we'll see if ending his career is the right decision. I think he could still continue playing for many teams without overexerting himself or risking injury

Hilarious response from JJ Redick when being asked about the Lakers starting lineup this season. Everyone in the room laughed and they had to take a moment before resuming.
"I'm pretty confident in three of the spots. The other two spots will not be two white guys."
RIP Bob Pettit

That's huge, but that is 4 years from now and we don't know if he can stay healthy. I imagine how much tax will be taken from that as well. But if that answer is accurate, then he will make history in the NBA. With the way he plays, teams could really offer him that kind of contract as he will probably be top 3 in the NBA by that time. It seems every season he is improving, as long as injuries do not bother him.
