Too bad, just when he got his confidence back and improved his efficiency over the last 2 preseason games, and then this happened. A torn achilles is a season ending injury. It's sad to say, but I guess he's literally DONE with his NBA career. I know he's just 30 but his body endured too much major injuries that made him lose his athleticism.
I think he should just stick to fishing, because he found success in professional fishing and became a champion in less than a year.

Yep saw it on X, this guy couldn't be more unlucky tbh, come on the regular season hasn't been played. Well, I think he still got a shot, he's just 30 and if he is willing he will for sure return. I don't about the retirement stuff but I think when he got back, he want to show he got that dog in him and prove something. I just don't know if he can still have the courage though after the rehab.

Yeah, I was shocked when I saw the news. That is very unfortunate for him. Now, aside from his injury, what I think he has to work more on is his mental health. His injury would probably be a blow again to his confidence.

I really thought he can at least redeem himself a bit because he is doing fine in preseason until this happened. Now, I'm not sure if he will sign again after his recovery even if there is an offer. If this didn't happen, I believe he will get an offer again and sign.

It will be a problem if that is serious. His status now is "Game Time Decision". So it's probably not that bad.

But if it is a serious injury, then the Warriors will be a mess.

I don't know how Coach Steve Kerr can make plays with so many stars out. It will be a rough start for them, and even if they have Curry, he cannot handle it alone. He will also probably be in minute restrictions considering his age and that ankle problem.

Yes, I was one of those who thinks that this could be a great comeback season for him. The Sacramento Kings might not to go this season, but seeing him playing as if he forgot all the past behind and become a new version of himself.

But what can you say, when you are a unlucky, then I guess it will follow you regardless of what you do. So the initial reports and with what others players when they got this kind of injury, is that it's a season ending.

However, as far as I understand, that minimum contract with the Kings is guaranteed, which means Simmons can expect to make a couple of million dollars in any case.

He sign for a 1 year contract with the Kings, nothing that the Kings will do here, I know it's very unfortunate for him as there are cases that he might really be back with different mentality. So I was under the impression that it could be the last time that we might see him in a NBA uniform.

Good thing nothing serious happen with him, it would been worse for the GSW losing him this early where the season have not yet start, the GSW is always in the play ins this few years, they could not stablish or get a better players to play with them, the management fail to lure big stars in the bay area, seems losing the top executives make their pitch less attractive.
The lakers will start with Luka as the leader this year after lebron depature can they turn the team as a contender this year or they will always fell short of the playoff run.

That's really the type of story only sports would write. Guy becoming a joke, finally getting away from basketball and clearing his mind, trying to come back and actually looking kinda solid just to get a season ending injury in the preseason. I mean how unlucky can this be?
Honestly, I didn't expect him to have any kind of impact but you don't wanna see somebody going down like that, especially since he just found hos love for the game back (kinda). Obviously he is not coming back cause he needs the money or anything, he is set for life. But yeah, that's how it goes sometimes. I think we saw 3 players going down with the same injury during preseason. Maybe it's time to bring back hightops shoes.

Sacramento Kings guard Ben Simmons has sustained a torn Achilles tendon and will undergo surgery, the team announced Sunday.

When Simmons is trying to make his comeback in the NBA, that's when the "scariest" injury in every NBA player happened to him. We know that if it's an Achilles injury, the minimum of that one is at least a year but only a few can recover in a lesser amount of time. Bottom line is that, the player will not play for the majority of the regular season. We've seen Haliburton, Tatum, and Lillard sustained an injury and they've recovered for at least a year. Simmons isn't an exception.

While I'm not expecting anything from him anyway, it's just a bit unfortunate that this happened. He's trying to make a comeback, but this happened. Simmons only has 1 year contract with the Kings. Now the question is, "Will his performance during the pre-season enough for the Kings front office to give him another 1-year contract when he recovers?"

First it's Hukporti, then Simmons, and it's not even the regular season yet. I don't know about this, but I guess it's time for them to focus more on conditioning themselves in order to prevent injuries like this.
