Each one see it from a different perspective but I believe that the 4th Money Laundering Directive a good thing because that will make people use Bitcoin again, instead of these cards which pretty much defeats the whole purpose of using BTC or altcoins (high fees, ID verification etc.). I'm not saying they are not useful in time of need but for the long run, bitcoin all the way.

Any suggestions of an unverified card that will be accepted for recurring/membership charges?  I'm having a heck of a time with Lavapay's Visa Virtuon and don't want to have to waste any more money unless I'm *sure* it's going to work...

It is going to work but make sure a small excess of money is going to be in the card at the expected time of the transaction. The card service might be getting a monthly fee and this might make it so your card doesn't have enough balance, especially if the charge is automatic.

Sorry, but it didn't work.  Not sure what Vimeo if using AVS, but Visa Virtuon miserably failed the test.

Any other suggestions for an unverified card (or other mechanism) that would work for a membership site like Vimeo?  They take PayPal, but that's a whole 'nuther can of worms.

Are you EU based? Perhaps the card failed due to lack of 3D secure support. Try with a VPN perhaps? You could also use an in verified PayPal account for this transaction. Just speculating here, things can vary wildly per payment processor but it's weird that the card was not accepted.

Not in EU -- looks like they don't accept recurring charges.  PayPal won't work -- wanna stay under the radar with this one (hence the prepaid cc).

It was already listed but I wanna say that I have used Xapo Debit Card for 4 months and I'm totally satisfied with that. The fee sometimes is high but I don't care while I'm free to spend my digital assets in shopping.

I think not verified cards will become more cost-effective, because the new legislation has come
Today I have received this from cryptopay:

The 4th EU Money Laundering Directive (4MLD) that will take action on 26 June, 2017. In line with this document, starting from 26th of June, all limits for unverified clients will change in accordance with the government regulators? guidelines:

The maximum load for an unverified cardholder across all cards will be reduced from ? 2,500 to ?250.
The maximum unload through point of sale transaction and ATM withdrawal for an unverified cardholder across all cards will be restricted to ?100.

To summarize, to be able to load more than ?250 or to exceed the spending limit of ?100, the cardholder has to be verified.

This would mean that it is impossible to raise the amounts as before, and if we consider how much the card issue costs,  10% is just the cost of making and sending the card to the user now how much money you will be able to raise and spend on it.
Interesting. My thoughts are that if the market can only offer cards for which users will need to be fully verified, people will probably end up signing up for e-banks like Mistertango, n26 and Leupay to get cards. Those are cheaper anyway.

How would you get your EUR/USD on an e-bank account then? You still have to go trough an exchange which requires verification (for BTC-FIAT) right?
So that wouldn't be truly "anonymous' or is there a way to do so?

Yes, it really seems like it will be pointless to get the $250 unverified cards if they have a $250 max lifetime load.  My gosh, I could go thru them at least once or twice a week!  Has anyone seen a statement from any of the companies that issue them with the newly imposed limits?

Yes, those need verification and that's what I'm trying to say. If there's a strong incentive for full verification users might start showing preference for actual debit cards (which are cheaper) other than bitcoin loaded ones.

I have an actual prepaid debit card. The problem with it is that there is no way to load it with BTC without going through bank account. And I don't want to connect my bank account with BTC exchanges. So, I ordered bitpay card which I can load directly with BTC. Verification is not a problem for me.

Who? Bitpay? No, you don't need to have a company to get their card.

You wouldn't need to connect your main account to a bitcoin exchange.

If you're looking for decent exchange rates then avoid Wirex.

Uquid as far as I know. Other than that, I'm not aware of any other card that allows direct loading with Ethereum. I think this'd be a nice feature for more cards to have.

which one have the best exchange rate as far as you know ?
Uquid has BitPay rates, BitPay's card was also made global recently. Coinsbank also has good rates at times but not that great in the recent months. Btc-exchange.com/Mistertango also seem to be offering better rates for bitcoin loading lately.
