Nice to hear that we will had XI edition, i only had 1 sugestion, pliss remove that 13% bonus point on ROI, so all of us can see pure ROI that we got while competition still running..

A lot of time we have talked about this 13% bonus point, and I think it's truly hard DB decide to remove from competition. Is not a "real money" bonus... about see "pure ROI" a solution could be another column in the league table that doesn't show that Wink

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. Hybrid server-assisted clients like Electrum get a lot of their network information from centralized servers, but they also check the server's results using blockchain header data. This is perhaps somewhat more secure than either server-assisted clients or header-only clients.

As bitbollo mentioned, a lot has been said about that "bonus", and his purpose.
I will try to resume it again, in case you haven't seen the previous discussion about it.

The main purpose of the 13% "bonus" ROI%, is to promote and reward those that wage more. That's the only way to take "advantage" of that bonus, and we have no problem with that, because like I said, that's it's purpose, and that's the reason we keep it.

This bonus does not depend on the odds you bet, it only depends on how much you bet. So if you keep betting the max allowed by your bankroll (the max 5%), you will get the most out of this bonus. The odds you choose to bet, is up to you and your strategy.

If a player A always bets the 5% max at 1.01 and wins, and if player B always bets the 5% max at odds higher than 1.01 and wins.
Then player B wins the competition. So the odds are up to your strategy. Again the 13% only promotes and rewards those betting the max they can.

Right now I see no reason not to keep them, so they should be available on the next competition.

Possible side competition changes (your feedback is needed!)

Now I would like to hear your opinion about a suggestion made by joca97, for the side competition structure.
Right now, we have a League phase, and then we go to the knockout phase, using a Playoffs structure.

Joca97 suggested that we would still use a League format in the knockout phase. We thought about it, and it would end up in something like this:

- Players continue gathering points in a League format, and after some time, we eliminate players that are at bottom.
- We continue using the same method, until we end up with just 3 players
- Points would be reset in every "mini league"
- The Final itself would be a mini league, with just three players

So after main League, we have a mini league with 16 players.
We reset points, play it for 3 or 4 days, and at the end, we eliminate 8 players.
Play it for 3 or 4 days, and at the end we eliminate 4 players
Play it for another 3 or 4 days, and eliminate 1 player
Play the last mini league with just 3 players, to see who finishes 1st, 2nd and 3rd

What do you guys prefer?
This new format, or something like it (it's not defined yet, so you could make suggestion to make it better)
Or the one we already have, with a League, and then Playoffs.

I'm ok with both systems. I think the system suggested by joca97 would be more challenging since we would be competing with all remaining players every time. On current system, if our opponent messes up on kockout phase, we can relax a bit and grab some "easy points". But that does not happens a lot, so, like I said, I'm ok with both systems.

Competition only goes live on the 1st February, so he still has plenty of time to be active in the forum and will probably not be a newbie by that time.
But yes, even if he is, he just has to register and then we will decide, but as usual, normally there is no problem.

Side competition Update

Hello everyone, I've updated the dates for the XI Tipster Championship on this thread.
I've also updated the rules for the side competition. Although I've already updated the rules, we are still in the discussion phase, so, we can still use the normal structure we used on the last competition. It's still up to you. If no one disagrees we will try this new system, suggested by Joca97.

Here are the main changes (you can see everything in the second post of this thread) (side competition update)
I did not include the other rules, because they stay the same. I'm just updating the possible change in the Playoff structure of the Side competition.

Side Competition schedule:
Group Phase: 7 to 13 February at 00h UTC
1/8 Finals Mini League: 14 to 17 February at 00h UTC
Quarter Finals Mini League: 18 to 21 February at 00h UTC
Semi-Finals Mini League: 22 to 25 February at 00h UTC
Final League: 26 February to 1 March at 00h UTC

Playoffs Mini Leagues Rules

- Mini Leagues will be played.
- Each League will have the duration of 3 days
- At the end of each Mini League, bottom participants will be eliminated as followed:
1/8 Finals Mini League: bottom 8 players will be eliminated
Quarter Finals Mini League: bottom 4 players will be eliminated
Semi-Finals League: Only the bottom player will be eliminated
Final League: This league will decide who finishes 1st, 2nd and 3rd
- We will reset points at the end of every Mini League
(In case of ties Global ROI% will be used to solve the tie)

I would like to try that new system. Actually after reading that, I had an idea, probably not for this competition, because like I said I would liek to try that one, but for other competition, why not change to side competition again? You could use that mini league system, but instead of just paying in the final, every mini league, could be isolated, and have a prize pool by itself.

This way, if some user got unlucky at the start of the side competition, he would still have a chance on the next one.
Maybe 2 or 3 mini leagues, during the month.

Hmm, so, your suggestion is we could run several, independent, Side Competitions throughout the tournament, instead of just the one? I suppose we could try something along those lines (perhaps in a future competition); let's see what other participants think about that.

Yes something like that. That way players would not get demotivated if they were eliminated at the League phase, or anywhere in the knockout phases.
They could have another go, on the next "mini league". Each one with independent prizes. They could of course be smaller. Maybe you could just divide the prize available for the side competition, as it is now, by the other mini side competitions. It would not really be a smaller prize, since who one the first, could of course won again in the next one etc. So prizes would still be great, as they are now.

Maybe 2 or 3 mini leagues, during the month.

Its great sugestion sir, this style of competition will make every participant always and had full motivated in almost 30 days because there always chance to win..

From my personal experience, i will be lack motivated if there us someone already win big odd parlay and in others situation i already eliminated in side competition.. So lets try this style Smiley

It's not one day. It's just a few hours, but it's only to open registration.
The competition will only start in February.

Hello everyone, I've just unlocked the registration thread.
Everything will stay the same as the last competition, expect for the small changes in the side competition knockout structure, as suggested by joca97.

Here are the important dates:

Dates for the competition:
Registration Schedule
From: 18th January until 7th February, 00h UTC

Live Competition Schedule
Starts at: 1st February, 00h UTC
Ends at: 1st March 00h, UTC

SIDE Competition Schedule
Starts at: 7th February 00h UTC
Ends at: 1st March 00h, UTC

Here is the link for the registration thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1248467.0 (Registration Thread)

Prizes will stay the same, and we will keep the X3 Prizes, for those using a 1 BTC bankroll or equivalent:
Prizes:
1st - 1,000 mBTC
2nd - 500 mBTC
3rd - 300 mBTC
4th - 200 mBTC
5th - 150 mBTC
6th - 100 mBTC
7th - 50 mBTC

X3 Prizes for Users playing with a bankroll of 1 BTC or more
(so 3 BTC for first place, 1.5 BTC for second place, and so on)

- We will also maintain the same structure for the Contribution prize, still with the 100mBTC value
Here is the link with all the information about this prize (it can of course be seen in the OP of the registration thread)
