I personally very much have. I look back to the days where is rush to the "Time Zone" at the mall after school, and blow $15 on street fighter. Oh, those are the days. Of only there was a full bitcoin arcade... Already been done, I remember a picture with an arcade machine running what probably was mame, and you were able to pay and play games on it, it had the street fighter cabinet, I will try to find the picture. Edit: Anyway couldn't find that one but I have found this: This is great and all, but wouldn't you have to wait a long time to start playing the games. This is where fiat or a credit card becomes very handy. Bitcoin just can't do all the things that fiat can and vise versa, thats why we need both in the world. You can always accept 0 confirmations or wait for Lightning Network which will make instant payments like this pretty much possible so stuff like this could perfectly run under the Bitcoin ecosystem, it already does in casino online games. Sure, you could always accept 0 confirmations, but people could intentionally double spend, no matter how cheap it is. Have you seen people scam for less than a cent here? No. I haven't seen anyone scam less than a cent here. Who is that stupid to scam less than a cent, I have seen people scam multiple cents though. Why do they even do that, it's not like they are making a decent profit.

Most cheap things I buy online accept 0 conformations anyways so waiting time on one of these shouldn't be a problem.

Plus, assuming the Bitcoin becomes a popular currency I doubt many people will be interested in cheating a whole $0.25 out of an arcade. I do agree that we need both fiat and limited currencies together in the world, however. Both serve their purposes.

This might sound crazy but do you ever imagined yourself playing with an arcade cabinet, with the ability to pay with Bitcoins instead of a quarter? (0.25 usd) I have been looking for such machine that would serve that purpose, but I can't seem to find it. It will be real fun to play some of the arcade classics with your BTC. Don't you think? Bitcoin isn't the most suited for this use case because of the long confirmation times. Can you imagine adding a credit and waiting minutes just to start your game. you can solve this by using system that work off-chain like bitpay, so you only wait for the instant sending of bitcoin, not confirmations needed also i thought it was done with cash not credit card, i remember paying with coins...

I would use Xapo with it's off-chain instant transaction confirmations. No need to have small transactions like this on the Blockchain. You can use emulators online and link it to Xapo and play it through your browser. I know there was a forum, where they had their own in-house token system and you paid with these tokens to play the games. It was fun, but I see the site is closed down now.

Well, if Bitcoin cannot be used due to its slow confirmation times, what about faster ones like Litecoin, Dogecoin or even Ethereum. It will be really interesting to see such payments done on an arcade machine. I am just eager to play one like that or own one.

I would think this would revive the arcade machines in a big way. Now that everybody has either an xbox or PlayStation those have virtually killed going to the arcades to play them and not to mention the emulators. Having this new innovation combined with the old classic nostalgia would be a good marriage I would have to say to reinvent itself and appeal to the next generation of gamers. I really miss playing Rampage at the arcade hall.

Confirmations will really be a problem. I remember people in the arcades using coins of less value, dropped in the slot with an impulse in order to cheat and play less for their games (it worked in some arcades), so people would definitely try to cheat it and double spend.
The idea is cool nevertheless. I like it at least.

I believe it was mortal combat, with a QR code to deposit BTC to

Anyone can create one. The arcades just use computers so they can do anything you program them to.

Oh dear I would like to play some Donkey Kong with bitcoins so bad And don't forget Pacman too. It would be so cool to play these classics on a machine which would accept Bitcoins. But if this cannot be achieved, what about earning Bitcoins playing these games? I would become so addicted to such thing.

If what your asking is a Classic Arcade Machine that receive Bitcoin then it would require something very hard like a custom built small amounts of satoshi coins just for the game and needs new added system that recognize the physical coin itself. Probably will be very expensive to built the whole system.

A small screen that just shows a QR code should be more than adequate. No need for coins.

That would be so cool. A paper wallet would be printed similar to a small receipt but with your earnings made by playing the game with a public and private key to redeem. All these things makes want to buy or make myself (if possible) an arcade machine with BTC payments.

All these things makes want to buy or make myself (if possible) an arcade machine with BTC payments. The arcades in my area offer machines giving small tokens as a reward.. These tokens can be collected and traded for gifts... Why can these machines not be adapted to pay small amounts of Bitcoins back to the player, instead of these tokens. The more you play, the bigger the rewards and the longer you can play. When the kids run out of money, the parents could just quickly transfer some via their mobile phones.... {This could be done from home, or work or the pub next door} Our arcade area has "Nanny" services.
