So was just wondering has anyone else on here had similar experiences and how did you deal with it?   Wink

I show them the price it was at in 2012 and show them the price it's at now, then I smile and walk away and never mention it again until they mention it to me.

Sometimes, they may show you the price it was at in end-2013.
Price is almost the last thing you should talk about when you list bitcoin's advantages.  Smiley

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Playing the price's game is just the speculators' job. Price is just the price. The underlying features bitcoin brings to us are really important. Actually many ppl heard it before. Why not try it? You wouldn't miss out this century great invention.

I did a work presso at a middle tier bank in 2011 about bitcoin, when bitcoin was $5.  Didn't have to say too much more.

I am sure they are laughing at you thinking that you are a total fool who decides to invest in a type of currency that has lots of risks. I do tell you that those colleagues of yours will reach a point where they will beg for just a few coins after the demand has really escalated. One thing they may be fearing the coins is because they have been associated with criminals. Also in most cases they are not formally accepted currency in most countries but this will change and they will start envying you.

Your colleagues are ignorant. They laugh at something they don't even understand.
If they were laughing and giving you arguments as to why bitcoin is stupid.. you should take notice... laughing at something you have no clue what it is..
There is 1 word for that.. pathetic.

When I tell people at work they don't even know what it is...

But besides that, you can be the last laugh when in 15 years you retire and they are still sitting at work for another 20

I exactly had same experience and still do with my classmates,i told them about bitcoins and they were laughing at me and didn't believed anything i said to them about some awesome and unique features of bitcoins..well obviously i ignored there opinions, everyone has there own opinions but someday they will believe whatever i told them when they will check and see for themselves..Earlier when i didn't know about bitcoins and first came to know about it,i was also shocked like "Shit! is it possible? a real crypto money?" but when i become familier with it then yes now i understand and use bitcoins,so just give people some time.they will surely understand one day.

Exactly, that is absolutely correct, Let them laugh right now but at the end of the carrier they would be crying and we would be laughing as they are are not aware about the future where bitcoins is going to stand in the future and that is the reason they are making fun of it, bitcoin is a future but when they would come to know it would be too late, its our duty to introduce them to bitcoins but if they are not interested then we cant help.

Do not worry about who or how many are laughing at you right now you just keeping doing what you are doing and let them do what they are doing , if they do not show interest in bitcoin that is there bad luck that they are so short sighted, you even do not have to answer there question TIME will answer and it will answer very well and very soon.

Everytime I have talked to someone in person about Bitcoin, I have gotten the same response: Mostly negative or in distrust, they can't even fathom that there is no one charge. "Who is the CEO"? they don't really understand the concept of decentralized currency yet.

These guys don't deserve to pioneers. It's best to ignore them while you work hard on your Bitcoin portfolio secretly, so when we hit 10K in the next 2 years you tell them that you own Bitcoin and they'll hate you but you will feel like a good.

I had a few laughs at them when the bitcoin price doubled recently. I have a few people like that to whom I have explained about Bitcoin in detail but they never believed in it, in fact they even asked me to not put anything in it and I told them they were wrong and I will prove this to them, the price was around $220 when I told them that this is the right time to buy but they said it will lose this price too, I went and bought as much as I could and when the price went up I made my profit and I showed it to them and had good fun proving them wrong.

But the thing I learned is they are still skeptical after all and so basically the best thing to do is just ignore these people and let them be. Haters gonna hate.

I don't think it's worth mentioning really. If you pique someone else's interest and they get into it then they'll just blame you when they make a monumental balls up even when you had zero to do with it. The rest will always lack the gumption to spend 5 minutes actually researching it before commenting.

Yeah. There is really no point of telling anyone. Most people don't understand and couldn't really give a shit about bitcoin.

wow!!! this is interesting... some of my friends did the same to me.
as I think people are afraid of what they dont know.
and because of lack of their knowledge they do it.
I pitty them in the future when time comes those who laugh at me.

The skepticism is very recongnizable; vast majority of the people I know regard Bitcoin as dangerous, some odd thing on the WWW, or are completely unaware about crypto. And I'm not only talking about older, more traditional people but also highly educated folks in their 20's and 30's, owning the latest smartphones and addicted to social media, but still (very) reserved about crypto.
