Hi guys,
1) Are we sure that his real name is Eric Corlew?
2) What if we bring a civil suit against him for the fair market value of our shares at the time of shutdown? There are several causes of action that we could bring against him, all of which took advantage of us as naive investors. (several violations of Securities Exchange Act and fraud, at the least)

Perhaps, hire a private investigator?

I dunno about you guys but if I lost so much money on this investment that I was losing sleep then I would feel like a complete fool right now..
sorry for the hard words but some people need to wake up and smell the coffee.. this is the wild west, not a utopian investors paradise.
do you think the people swindled by trendon shavers will ever get their money back?... I so sorely doubt it.
I just don't understand the point of posts like this. Are you saying investors should be happy to write-off their investments and move on without doing anything at all? I can afford to lose what I invested but that doesn't make it any less disappointing and it doesn't mean I am willing to walk away without trying to recover something. You refer to the wild west - if this was the wild west, I would find and shoot the person ripped me off, for however little. It's the principle.

Maybe I'm a little confused - If we assign a new manager, we will seize control of the wallet and be able to redistribute? This is the so-called dead man's switch?
(1) Is this true?
LET'S DO IT NOW. It goes without saying that two weeks w/ no dividends and zero contact is unacceptable. I think everyone will support the motion.
(2) Where do we vote?

Priority is obviously finding creativex, assuming that's possible.
A few hours work from a PI in MI should confirm whether Eric Corlew is the right person, whether he is alive, in jail, etc. A few hundred bucks. Thoughts?

looks like our man creativeX took out some BTC yesterday.... http://blockchain.info/address/1Hfp99tugY4H5FYEoM3hj4JDLzShzZ9ifBat least we know he is not dead or incarcerated. he better explain himself soon... I don't like the idea of money going missing without it being accounted for.

there's still 200BTC in the account... if he was going to do a runner he would have moved ALL the funds to a mixing service... I think you just failed Deductive reasoning 101.

This is turning into another speculation type thread, what Labcoin was like.
But it appears we have lost all our investments in this company, and there's nothing we can do about it. Giving creativex negative rep won't do anything here either. And I highly doubt police would care about this too.
Did the person who lives near him ever get a chance to drive over to his place and see whats up?

And who is in control of the wallet?
would really surprise you to find out that the guy who launched the company and has been managing the miners all this time still has control of the wallet? woah the guy who was entrusted with the wallet still has control. I'm shocked *sarcasm* did you also fail logic 101? when the money starts going to places that it shouldn't be then ill start getting worried... until then its just collecting in a big ole bucket and increasing in value daily due the increase in BTC price. read up on that guy in oslo who bought an apartment with $27 of bitcoin that he had misplaced and you will understand why having your funds safely locked away is not always a bad thing.. http://www.thelocal.no/20131029/student-buys-oslo-apartment-with-27-bitcoin-stash

Maybe creativeX was well intentioned initially when he started Basic-Mining but this is clearly turning into a scam.
If I were a US citizen, I would report this fraud to the SEC and/or the FBI. With all the Internet monitoring that the US government is doing, it should not be a problem for them to find him.

Nobody in the SEC is going to care, this is small potatoes for them. CX mentioned that he had already paid more out than he took in from investors. If this is true, I suppose he might feel as though he's done enough and has stepped way from it. I doubt the guy is dead, in jail, or just holding a baby. More than likely he is just not interested in coming in here, telling people it's over and working through the nightmare of people demanding refunds, lawsuits, wanting the hardware or to take on the exchange themselves. There's no positive outcome for him either way, but it's easier to remain quiet.
This kind of thing happens time and again in the Bitcoin universe. People rip each other off. It's what happens when you send money to people you don't know and have no way of contacting or checking out.
I'm just chalking it up to another loss.

we do not have the same notion of small potatoes.
What is the value of Basic-Mining assets: 1000 BTC? With current rate this is 300K USD+
This 300K+ USD belongs to share holders. some people go to jail for less smaller robbery.
If SEC do not care then report the issue to local police. IMO, that is what should be done.
How big was the bitcoin fraud when the guy from Texas got caught?
