I was going to place a large hash rental but with others being so close to my number I am waiting for a bigger gap. but now I only have 2% on the low and 1.25 on the high. As a result, I think I'm going to rent at 48.25% till 49.50% to be on the safe side. That would really suck to spend a bunch on a rental, hit a block but not be within your range....... |

Looking at the way we are picking and doing some quick calculations leaving at 2 % distance makes its easy to figure. I have a dead pick of 37.37 I have to pick at least 47.37

You must actively be mining on the pool to qualify.
Cool contest, good idea, but I need a little clarification on the above. What constitutes "active mining" to win? Do you have to be mining for the entire round the block was solved, or do you have to be mining when you place your guess, or do you have to be mining when the block is actually solved? I point my big gun here or BCMonster or cksolo so I'm not here all the time, thanks! I would like to guess 77.7% pending answer to above. If I need a miner here 24/7 to qualify I have a gekko stick @ 20GH I can point here from cksolo. Otherwise I will assume to understand it to mean I could only win if I was actively mining here when the block was solved. No, the potential is 3 BTC. There are no other current promotions. Win the game? Get 2 BTC. Did you also find the block? Get an additional 1 BTC. There is no additional block finder's bonus or under 100% bonus - those were the last rounds' promotions What about the "find a block with your own gear" bonus, was that just a one-time thing, too? |

Yes that was a one-time thing as well. Edit: sorry for the quick answer... I was just getting off a plane in Atlanta. Now that I've got a bit of a layover, I'll give more details . Actively mining means just that. You can't submit a couple shares today, then a few more a few days later and so on. Do you have to be here 24/7? Well that would certainly increase your chances at finding a block. While I would obviously like you to point your big guns here full time, I realize that it may not be feasible for a variety of reasons. Be that reason you spilt your time with other pools or you shut down your miners part of the day due to fluctuating electricity costs during peak hours. The idea is to grow the base hash rate of the pool so that we reduce the variance. The more constant hash we have, the more regularly the blocks are found and the more often miners are paid. Ultimately I want people to make this pool their home. I'm spending a ton of coin and time to provide an experience that makes miners happy to pull their gear off of the big, bad-for-Bitcoin pools. So, at the end of the round, I will be evaluating the shares to determine whether or not the prospective winner was in fact actively mining. I won't accept a "winner" who made a guess, then didn't submit a single hash for a while, but happened to be lucky enough to then be mining when the block was found. I realize my answer is a bit vague, but that is because the parameters of the question aren't easily quantified. |

I realize my answer is a bit vague, but that is because the parameters of the question aren't easily quantified.
"I'll know it when I see it" is a perfectly acceptable answer to me, thanks for the detailed reply. I really have to just find a block first, then I'll have something to worry about.  |

10% higher then last is the minimum so you can do 52.5 and above as high as you want to. like 65.65 fits in between 63.45 and 68 pretty well |
