Everyone will have their opinion on mining, but remind you that without Bitcoin mining nobody be here.

It was groundbreaking, as was the steam engine in it's days.

So you will sell your Lisk, for Bitcoins Grin

mining is not stupid, its classic art of crypto,

Mining is stupid.

Mining was a way to get cryptocoins started, just like sails and coal steamships were a way to get international commerce started.  Today, container ships rule.  So will Lisk.

Mining is stupid.
Mining is not stupid. Mining is a legitimate way to attract nerds to crypto. It is an art form. Assembling a GPU miner, configuring the settings, connecting to a pool, seeing the coins arrive in your wallet- it's an unforgettable and very rewarding experience. It brings a sense of realism to these abstract tokens we're creating and trading. It also fosters a virtual ecosystem around the platform.

It's OK if Lisk does staking instead of mining. We'll just be attracting a different type of nerd to the foray. It would be useful to think about all the mutually beneficial ways one could earn Lisk, because you're not going to setup a virtuous economic cycle if everyone has to buy their way into a token. For a contextual example of this problem, see NXT.

All right, but lets see the other side... it's causing a headache to POW investors, look to Bitcoin, it's all being monopolized by the dictatorial China and when you think in long term the problem become bigger.

And even with more than a billion of gigahashes and the waste of energy it's becoming too slow.

Bitcoin still is the 'crypto gold standard'! For future projects to succeed they need to be more sustainable imo.

It's quite hard to believe that my tiny investment of 353 LISK could one day be enough to finance a decent holiday/vacation abroad or buy a used car. Though the prices shown on Yobit are fake, it shows there's room for massive growth of the significance of LISK in the (nearby) future, perhaps gaining a massive foothold in the world of crypto (in a way, it already has ... !)

REMEMBER TO VALIDATE YOUR KEYS!

You do this by entering your passphrase(s)  when you log into lisk and click "my lisk keys",
if they have not been validated you will see red boxes asking you to do so!

ANYONE ELSE DOUBLE CHECK THEY ARE VALIDATED! You will have Green Boxes saying they are

Lets not hold up the Dev team because people were too lazy to spend 2mins checking key validation Smiley

If you don't know who I am, then maybe your best course would be to tread lightly

Official Statement regarding YoBit trading “IOU” LISK tokens

We have released an official statement on our blog regarding the YoBit "IOU Tokens" early trading.

In summary, we are not endorsing the trade of non-existing LISK.

It is advised to wait until the official launch of Lisk. Once it's launched, Lisk will surely be added to reputable exchanges where the risk of theft and fraud is lower.

do you chums have a slack or irc channel?  tia

I like mining. This is fun, allow me to buy a lot of computer parts that I wouldn't need, and bring (a lot of) money. How could it be bad ? I love it Wink !

Well if you are GPU mining, the electricity cost will eat up any profit you might make. I shut all my rigs down nearly 2 years ago.

Plus my garage was like a sauna.

DPoS is much better for the environment.

Mining is so 2009 man! --- wasting energy!

I completely agree with the Litecoin Collector's analysis. Let's facilitate the reuse of energy and promote green energy and pretty buds flowering instead of mining operations for digital platforms. It will make us all happier, and it is smarter too.

Lot's of people talking about the limited supply on yobit, but you have to consider that the demand is also limited as at least 80% of potential buyers would never send BTC to yobit.
