Motocoin has been running for 3.5 years now without any problem. Fastest coin in the world. And it will be classic too like the Arcade of the 80's.
Are you mining?

I haven't started my client in so long.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

That is from the OLD thread  from I think HMC's original post which has motocoin.org on it... The first post on the first page of the original MOTO thread.
Where do I add the new nodes? I will be mining 24/7 but my client isn't sync'ed yet, although I did replace the blocks and chainstate dirs and have ElvenArcher's bot replace the exe, I've already mined quite a few but lol they weren't accepted I forgot to first have my wallet synced... So I stopped it. What I wonder will happen to those coins?

8space, I have a Q. I just put the blocks and chainstate dirs in my motocoin %appdata% dir. and I replaced the wallet with my old wallet (its got like 140 000 moto in), but it still says unconfirmed and no blocks available. Also it says my coins which were received in my old wallet are "conflicted" but maybe its just because they were from 2014? I mean I donno when any forks happened, I had about 140 000 moto by September 2014...

Just hoping it will sync. I will wait for a few hours to see what happens but it says "no block source available" 185 weeks behind (lol that's quite a long time ago)...
So where do I add the nodes? Which file?

also, can't someone please update the downloads from the official site on github, and just incorporate the blocks and chainstate dirs into there, along with any new nodes? And maybe a nodesearch webscraper and nodeadd function so when it launches it automatically looks for nodes itself and adds them to the relevant file? This would really make it easier for more people to run this. People are just too lazy (believe me, ahah) to even do so little to mine it.

If you mined before you synced the chain then the conflicted coins will disappear depending weather or not it is part of the main chain or if it is a fork. The nodes can be added to motocoin.conf in %appdata%/motocoin (if you are on windows). In windows explorer type %appdata% then open the motocoin folder and put the nodes in the motocoin.conf file. Create the file if it isn't there.

Hopefully you sync! Smiley

I will take a look tomorrow and see if a bootstrap.dat file can be created. I’m not sure since the pow algorithm isn't like any other. Smiley
If you sync, willoweb7, would you be able to run some commands and create the bootstrap.dat file for me?

I think we might be able to get this chain moving again! Actually, I'll see if I can sync tomorrow (about to go to bed right now) and maybe create the bootstrap.dat myself and upload it. I'll probably be able to upload it overnight, I just don't know if I can sync.

yes I am in windows. I can't get this entire mess going on Linux. If someone could put the sources together for us idiots I have two linux machines doing very little close to nothing in fact), and trying to get my laptop. Will be running 24/7 so that would be 3 more nodes permanently running... I just can't "assemble" the pieces together to run the linux cilent, i.e. add the blocks, the chainstate, and run the bot in the wallet and the new nodes, if someone could re-read my edited, previous post and somehow just put the pieces together for ease of use for n00bs I think the coin could really make it, after all.

Notice the "importing blocks from disk" Smiley

Yay! I got the bootstrap.dat working (yes, I decided to get back up and see if I could get it to work). Unfortunately i'm not synced up to the latest block though, so theres not really any point right now.

willoweb7, if you do manage to sync, i'll tell you the command to generate the bootstrap.dat file.

hmm, I don't know if I actually have 135k moto. We'll see when i've synced.

Also, if anyone wants the bot with all the code and stuff as it was, submitted by ElvenArcher, I just uploaded it to a free file sharing website.
You can download it here: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=18688118555626067061

I've never used tinyupload before, so I apologize if the file goes missing.

are there any nodes other than Klimax' that I can add? Could anyone add a complete list of up to date nodes?

8space I'd gladly help with the boostrap.dat once my wallet is synced...  I'm not sure if its the double folder issue. But yes, I hope we can get it up and running again and will gladly help maintain a node or two or four.

I plan to update the wallet so that in the game tab of the wallet there is a button for the bot to mine and a button to play the motogame to mine.
Then we can bundle the bot with the wallet.

It may take a while because I don't really know C++ or QT very well, but I'm sure I can work it out.

could you send me the source of this in a PM?

There might be some more up to date nodes on cryptopia, if they have changed the nodes listed recently.

This is what is currently listed on cryptopia:
Code:
addnode=89.223.25.234:13107
addnode=93.88.74.40:13107
addnode=138.201.249.19:13107
addnode=91.78.42.22:13107
addnode=95.28.221.245:13107
addnode=176.15.199.186:13107

This is what I have (I think most IPs don't work)
Code:
addnode=37.153.97.65
addnode=95.69.230.172:13107
addnode=162.255.117.105:64344
addnode=144.76.236.8:44487
addnode=93.88.74.40:13107
addnode=79.104.212.83:13107
addnode=89.223.25.234:13107
addnode=138.201.249.19:13107
addnode=91.78.42.22:13107
addnode=95.28.221.245:13107
addnode=176.15.199.186:13107
edit: I just tested this and I have 5 connections!

Also, here are instructions on how to add nodes: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1365986.msg13900502#msg13900502
Make sure to use these IPs (in this post right here) when following the instructions. Smiley

I find it incredible that I have never heard of this coin, the concept seems incredible and very fun. What I find curious is that the bot that finish with the coin revives it, it is funny that human mineable become bot behaving like human mineable. It seems very positive to me that there are still nodes working and I am likely to mine some just for curiosity and fun, how much is the blockchain in gigabytes?

I think the blockchain is less than 1gb.

The bootstrap.dat file I made is only 344mb, but it is out of date. Still, I think the complete blockchain will be around double that size. So probably less than 1 gigabyte.

The only "problem" is that verifying blocks takes much longer than the normal POW algorithms because instead of doing one hash, a game has to be simulated that is way more computationally expensive.
There must be a way to speed up block verification though, since my cpu is only 15% utilized by the motocoin client when importing the bootstrap.dat file.

Edit: 102 weeks behind now... Syncing is taking quite a while even with the bootstrap.dat file.
Edit2: 89 weeks behind and the bootstrap has finished. Now synchronizing with the network via the internet.

Syncing is 81 weeks behind right now.

I just did some quick calculations.

The total amount of motocoins is at about 30,481,300 right now at block 2,006,268. (estimated latest block)
At $0.010508 usd for each moto, that puts our market cap at $320,693 usd.

Thank you for your quick answer, I will try to sync and mine some motocoin. Do you think that I can test it on a VM? or does it need more graphics capability? Can a human beat the bot or it is too fast for a person?

I don't think you could run the game in a vm. But the bot is too fast anyway, there really isn't any point.

Here is a video I made showing it still is possible to human mine. (or at least it was when I made the video)
https://youtu.be/aCPHtSjqNI0
It just took an hour or something like that to find the block, which is way slower than the bot.

As you might be able to tell in the video, I kinda gave up and some random person invited me to a game and I sent them a message and then somehow I managed to still complete the level before the other miner (bot) completed a level.

17 weeks behind now... slow and steady to be fully synced.

I was just reading the old whitepaper and found something quite funny.

Quote
Bots
There are concerns that it is possible to make bots for this game. This is based on belied that “everything
is botable”. But in many games (for example Go) humans are still superior to computers.

Since the whitepaper, AlphaGo beat Lee Sedol in Go, so now AI is arguably better at Go than humans.

no one has compiled the game / wallet with the bot in Linux for easier adoption?

Can anyone here do it?
