I think trading is also part of gambling. But in the midst of the general public trading is not gambling . I never heard my government forbids people to do trading, even a lot of advertising on tv who advise people to trade in their place. So it could be said trading is part of gambling but it could also be said not, depending from what angle we view it.

If we buy any company share by thinking they can do good business and we can make some profit from those investments, is not directly called as gambling but risky investment. If governments ban this kind of investments, then companies can't raise funds from public to grow their businesses. As you said, some people thinks all risky investments are like gambling, but some think differently.

Yes, it is true. Most of the people think both trading either long or short term are same as gambling. If we think all risky investments are same as gambling then we can't grow our money by keeping them safe. So everyone should need to find suitable investments based on their risk level to grow their money over the time. If not, over the time their money value will go down due to inflation.

Trading and gambling are two different ways of earning money because in trading we trade Bitcoins or other altcoins In hope for a price increase to make some profit, but in gambling we put our hard earned money in casino games like slots, blackjack etc... And there is also high Risk involved in Gambling....

traiding is more investing , you will never lose .
Or you win or you are bagholder  Grin
in trading you also don't have assurance that you will lose but catch is you can recover and you will not lose everything because you can control the price while in gambling when you already done betting you can't control you are just waiting and hope that you will not lose the bet or else everything will be burned out, similar think is both you have a risk even to earned or to lose.

you never have any kind of assurance when you do investments and you can never be 100% sure of any investment even if it is the most fool proof investment you can always lose a part of your investment. that is why they say invest what you can afford to lose.

Just like what I said here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1290215.msg15453353#msg15453353

Trading is one example of gambling. Why?
Because gambling is basically putting your money to risk.
You may lose your money if you did not predicted nicely.

You will lose money if you do not use your head and just trade blindly. That is why there is called research and charts. You use them to predict properly and not trade no blindly. If you do that, the risk is lessen and it will not be too much of a gamble. You will be assured of profit for all your trade. Just do your work first before doing trades.

So meaning if a person is not doing his research and just follows what he reads in this forum when he wants to trade altcoins, can that be considered that he is gambling? I think it can be.

That is plain laziness and stupidity combined. You know you will not survive trading if you do not arm yourself with enough knowledge and research but you still choose to trade. Just do gambling, atleast you are enjoying the games.

You may lose in trading as well. But not all.
Unless you invested all your money to one stock and then it has gone bankrupt.

Like I said before.

If you have no idea what you are doing in the stock markets or the forex markets then its not different from gambling on dice sites.

But if you have some fundamentals and technical knowledge and have an edge, then I wouldn't consider that gambling but investing instead.

absolutely right, if you lose in trading, it just makes your money amount is reduced but not entirely disappear. whereas on a gamble, you lose all the money you bet when you lose. That's the greatest thing that differentiates between gambling and trading. so gambling and trading is something different

For me yes, They both have a high risk of losing your money but the different thing between these two is  the process. I suggest that before joining gambling/trading is you should have enough knowledge. If you don't know what youre doing then dont do it

Doesnt make sense to me though because gambling and trading have so much different thing, trading is the safest way ever to earn money and slowly one mean while you can earn a lot on gambling with pretty high risk and there is so much more that make gambling different from trading

I dont think you will be needing some knowledge in gambling specially with just dice. But I with poker I guess you should know some bluffing or how to read some cards routine. That is just the game that I know that would need some practice.

likewise mate in gambling dice you don't need many knowledge but just luck, but in a strategy game like poker you need to learn more before starting a game, similar to trading risk of losing money is also their mate making your investment in the right place will profits you.

Altcoin trading is just like gambling because nobody know what is going to happen there, Forex has totally different mechanism for trading it require some great skill to make some profit, I also will do agree with you because it is true, altcoin trading is no more than gambling.

Trading and gambling are both different ways to grow your Bitcoins but we can't consider Trading as Gambling because in trading we are buying/selling Bitcoins for making some profit but in Gambling we are putting our money for earning huge profit in a short period by performing a Gambling task...

They are both risky but they are different, we can also do like trading in gambling by doing arbitrage betting, but that job is hard to do because you need more time to make money for this risk free method.

Yes, because of the risk both of them involve. Though, you can play smart when it comes to trading and win big (e.g. Soros). Gambling is all about luck.

Trading without any knowledge and good tips have similarity with gambling, in trading people can survive if they go with proper research, gambling is sudden death there is no chance but both depend on our luck.

Yeah right both are risky but they are still different because gambling is betting your bitcoin unlike trading because you are buying altcoin and trading has low risk than gambling.

Decided to end it with zer0 profit.
