Previously, I linked a "tutorial video" in a reply. That video claims to teach the usage of the official wallet. DO NOT FOLLOW THAT VIDEO.
The steps in that video are incorrect and can cause your XRB to be stolen. That video does not tell you to backup your original seed first before updating the data file used for synchronization. So if you are a firstimer and follow that video, you will be sharing the same wallet/account with someone. And that "someone" can steal your XRB.
I lost 1,698 XRB today because of that video. And I guess that was also the cause of my number of captcha claims increased abnormally because I probably shared the same wallet/account with "someone".
Sorry to hear that happened to you, thank you for making everyone aware for the future. With the recent git commits to improve sync this hopefully you won't need the special hacks to speed up syncing. I've just built a Mac OSX binary of the latests master for the wallet if anyone wants to try it - get in touch Thank you for both your friendliness and your efforts on making the wallet better! I appreciate it.

That's too bad bro I feel bad for you but thanks though for sharing that in here. You will save a lot of xrbs from being stolen. I guess for beginners it's always best to just stick to the web wallet. Don't worry man karma goes around so to whoever stole your xrb something or someone will be coming to them. I really appreciate your comfort. That makes me feel better. I guess you are right. It's best for beginners to try a web wallet first. I will try one then. To be honest, this doesn't make sense. When you when install the wallet, an address is generated and it will not be the same with any other wallet. Also, if you share an account, it has nothing to do with captcha claims increasing.

Does the wallet have to be fully synced in order to send coins out of it? I can't remember but I've been waiting a day now and this piece of shit still isn't synced. If you start it up and have to stop it for any reason it seems to go even slower that before.

No, if you have balance and your account chain (last hash) is same with web explorer and network

I think developers have a problem with pools more than with hacks or bots. The problem of any external resources, paying 4-5 times less and deceiving people.
At the end of may dev. supposedly disabled this opportunity. But they reacted poorly or badly to this problem and if they now solve it and receive a reward, it will be possible only with a faucet claim.

I agree the only people who are benefiting right now are those who got a lot of coins inside bitgrail cause deposits are so delayed it's hurting a lot of traders. And look at the price right now it's slowly decreasing cause most people who deposited two days ago just received their coins now and are dumping. It hurts my heart to see the price go down
