Hey guys, just bought my first couple k of raiBlocks!
Seems like an amazing project.

I'm wondering when it will hit bigger exchanges, any ideas?

Where did you buy them?
I saw them talking about bittrex a few post ago, but there is still some development needed for that.

But I see that there is a company already doing something similar. is claimers.io I think.

Hi,

I am new on this thing of Raiblocks. As I know you make the currency filling captchas. My question is: Would I be able to develop an application where for example people solve the captchas in exchange of money? is there a fix rate of Raiblocks currency for determinated amount of captchas solved for example let's say 1000?

I know that you need to be in a top 150 each hour to be able to get the money but not sure what is the remuneration here for example for 1000 captcha solved?

In the site there is not much information about these topics for new users. so sorry for my ignorance

That is not the purpose of this project. The captchas are to implement "Proof of Human". That's all there is about it. Just a method of distribution.

RaiBlocks has no transaction fees and is aiming to tackle scalability.

Given your choice of user name and brand new account status, I'm just gonna go ahead and assume you are just shilling for the aforementioned company.

No need to even click on his link to know that there is NOTHING else like Raiblocks out right now and even if there were, it certainly hasn't been running for over 2 years and gained the user base that Raiblocks has achieved.

bitgrail

explanation for newbies: Raiblocks is a pow coin (proof of work, google is your friend), so every transaction that the bitgrail's wallet receive/send make the server's cpu working at 100%, when bitgrail has a day like this, with a loooot of transactions, some delays may come up...

Today it was worst than this: today the wall Raiblockschain got reaaaaaaaally slow due to the huge increase of transactions to process.

What happened when this happens? Invalid blocks. Invalid blocks are like not-yet-born children: they are there, but not yet fully built. The same for those blocks. (Don't worry you didn't lose money).

From our side, the rai_node was super duper overloaded of deposits and withdrawals. That  means that if usually it takes 1/15 minutes, now it may take up to 24 hours due to the pending transactions (see about the pow).
Even though this process is automated, the chain and the node needs time.

The only thing to do is to wait

There have been a few issues, its not based on bitcoin so the wallet/node isn't exactly the same and so requires some interfacing, also as an anti-spam feature there is a PoW which can be taxing for the server when lots of transactions are occurring.

Finally there are some elements of the community who rely on the faucet as a way of life and so can get a little irate when things aren't smooth - the main reason that cryptopia dropped the coin - its not a reflection of the core of the community and there has been work to try and improve this generally. Raiblocks has a very different demographic to other cryptocurrencies - a social anthropologist would have a field day!

XRB is gathering steam, personally I'm focusing on developing usable webservices as hopefully that will create value. Working on integrating XRB with twitter to allow instant rewards for retweeting - check out @xrb_giveaway on twitter and if you want to try it out yourself you can use https://yapraiwallet.space and use the experimental twitter reward system to track your own tweets. The server will monitor a tweet and each unique retweet (where the twitter user includes a xrb address in their profile) it will then send them some xrb.

The exchanges will come - everyone is working towards that goal.

Hey, thanks. Very detailed and informative response from a newbie account. I assume you have been around for quite some time?

Yeah, not normally on bitcointalk - more on the slack and telegram channels - have done a fair bit of work with cryptocurrencies - raiblocks is the most innovative.

What's the thought process & progress on scaling this up as adoption grows?  I can only imagine how much worse it'd be if the RAI market grew by 50,000-100,000 people.

BitGrail can use more powerful server or optimize receiving proccess (now it require 3 transactions instead of 1 - exchanges somewhy prefere resend all to 1 central account) or there will be external paid PoW generation services (or may be add option to core wallet to external PoW from other network nodes for optional fee).

Interesting project.

What is the expected sync time for this coin? Currently on block 38 after an hour.

Devs/representatives, have you thought about changing or give choice which captcha service to use at the faucet?
It is getting harder and harder everyday to keep rechaptcha working. For example I was flagged by google as bot three times today. It is getting annoying to browse through console, copy/paste links to some "ipv4.google/sorry/index?continue=huge_link_with_numbers.com" This problem will get only bigger, so far I saw one person talking about "no captcha error" but I'm sure it will grow along. Now I know that working on two different devices causes it to happen very rapidly, like mobile plus PC equals maximum 21captchas before block(of course using those one after another not at the same time, same time usage give 3captchas before block)
I'm not complaining, just letting you know there is a problem.

I posted blockchain at privious page, so that's the option (save Seed, replace, restore Seed)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1381323.msg19562825#msg19562825

Guess you can also try tospeed up by selecting closest peer (+ :7075) from https://raiblockscommunity.net/page/knownips.php
paste in Advanced --> Peers something like ::ffff:138.201.94.249:7075 and Initiate bootstrap

What is the expected sync time for this coin? Currently on block 38 after an hour.
Depends on connection, CPU, SSD speed (and on peers you randomly connect to). About 1-2 hours at VPS with GUIless rai_node.
Also summ 38 with unchecked blocks inside brackets

Shouldn't the transactions be instant though? That's literally the only selling point of this coin.

Don't forget about almost unlimited divisibility and transactions without fees.
RaiWalletBot: 10-20 seconds between send-receive and several thousands transactions/hour without problems. For large services it depends on implementation and computing power for peaks.
I guess many services doesn't want to upgrade servers etc. so perhaps some distributed PoW with fees can be an future option for them.
