There is a fixed supply no more coins can be created according to the protocol's rules, now you can dislike distribution (no mining).
I checked the curent Ledger Close Time it is 3.29 seconds right now.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Everyone complains about the coin supply but it is controlled and fixed by the team, they can't release tokens just because they want to do.

This coin has ruined more lives than any other coin by far! The whole rise this year was just a pump and dump that sucked in a huge amount of investors. From 24k satoshi to 4k is joke for a top ten coin. No other top ten coin crashes like that.

Perfect example of a hype man not knowing what they are talking about. You are referring to the Ripple protocol with all your hype and reasoning that the coin should be worth a lot. the protocol IS NOT THE COIN! two different things and it doesnt automatically make the coin worth a lot of money.

This is what I haven't been able to figure out: how does the Ripple protocol differ from XRP when it comes to transaction speed? You're saying XRP is not inherently faster than BTC, thus doesn't have a competitive advantage (at least there)?

I am not surprised that someone who does it for lulz can not figure out something that is on the front page.

I have always been trusting Ripple. I know the value of XRP will soar in the future. I am all support to the team as well as the efforts that they have been doing for their project. What I don't understand is why their coin seems to be not responsive to all their efforts and hardwork. The value is almost stagnant. In fact it is decreasing right now.

I think the real point is that the coin IS being responsive to their efforts and hardwork and that's why it hasn't moved. If you look at the Ripple price the past few weeks its stayed around 15c (Eur) and any time it gets to 16/17c it's back down at 15c again a few hours later. Imo the only way a coin can remain this stagnant while almost every other coin is making gains is because someone wants to keep it low on purpose, at least for the time being. Whether it's whales with huge bags or Ripple themselves idk.

This is my concern, and the way the distribution model is set up it gives Ripple the ability to manipulate the market exactly like that by essentially printing money.

Another example of writing it for lulz. Now it goes into same category. "Ripple prints money" Lulz.

XRP will be the hottest coin this year. Many investors participate in this game.
However, I still need to wait for more updates before I can make an investment decision.

What is not bought up (or given away) is put in escrow until the 55 months are over, after which they are released (sold or given away) to the wild.

Actually, not quite:  My understanding is that whatever is unused goes back in for another circular 55 months.  Somebody from Ripple can correct me if I'm wrong...

Isn't that what I said?

No you did not, read what you wrote for lulz.

I understood it as 1 billion released every month for 55 months, whatever is unused goes to the back of the queue and forms the 56th, 57th, 58th month etc.

So e.g. if 1 billion is released but they only use 500,000, that 500,000 goes to the back of the queue and in the 56th month 500,000 will be rereleased... and on it goes (I think)

It does not go to 56, 57, it (1B if unused) just gets locked and when 55 months pass, Ripple will decide what to do next based on that time reality.

Some lulz like Bramen just starting same song about "Ripple dumping xrp", but now adding "after 55 months".

Ripple is dumping on average 300m XRP to the market by their own admission.

For sake of Lulz draw a diagram on how it happenz. Oh, wait, I forgot that XRP that you bought and hodl are from thin air and xrp that ripple sells are different.

Its like blame block developer on dumping appartments.

In other news....Bitcoin keeps making new ATH's daily while XRP continues its 3 monthly downward spiral. But Bitcoin is crap and XRP is so good lol.

LIN_CHAO is at least smart. Sell then buy more cheaper, if guys had done that on here many a time they would have a massive stock pile to brag about instead of bragging about holding while the price keeps going down...

How much is BTC fee now? For instance, you want to transfer $10.
How long BTC transfer takes time today?

My bag is 5x it's original size,  plus I sold enough along the way to cover my original investment. All I have is profit left.

I have heard it all before.  I simply don't care, oh shit I think I've heard everything again and again.  When my mined bitcoin was worth a pint of beer, many were saying this is it sell sell sell.... When it went to $500, here were a new bunch saying sell,  a crash is coming. Blah blah blah. However I had a thought,  what if?  So I stuck with my gut feeling and held most while trading, selling, giving some away.
I know ripple cannot be compared to bitcoin, it's not my point, but what if???  Ripple has great potential, costs nothing, has big future and you never know what will become.

It's a big mistake to draw conclusions too early when reading charts. Sure many shitcoins have died an ugly death, I just don't believe xrp will.

I don't back everything, in fact I only have big bags of very few coins.  BTC, LTC,  LBRY,  XRP,  and now Onion.

Please hang around another year, your input is fun to read,  sometimes correct and appreciated. We should never be afraid of an opposing view,  weigh up all.

The longer the sideways movement the steeper the spike.  Wink

i'm giving up this coin already. almost all tokens i got are already moving up including those i never thought would rise but this one seem not testing out patience, its just not profitable holding it. i'd rather buy new tokens that are picking up higher volume on exchanges. MCO and Populous already were skyrocketing, now moving my coins and sold my XRP.

well said, I bought ripple once n sold it off at a loss, like I knew it will take time before it rises again, I need money very urgently then but, am hoping to buy back, I've read so many analysis of how this coin would be great in the future and sure, I wanna be a part of that future 🔮

Dear Ripplers...
bcc, the Real Bitcoin, im 100% confident.

The only reason bcc isnt flying higher right now, imo is because many are waiting for cheap polo coins.
Once thats out the way and many will realise there is no huge dump coming, there will be a huge swing.
Mining and money will come towards bcc making it the real Bitcoin.

Something huge is coming and many wont even know until its happened.
Prepare....buy/hodl your bcc, when coins come from polo, research before doing anything.

currently
Bcc= decentralised bitcoin
btc= segwit 3rd party centralised coin
This is wrong and must change...only we can change fix this.

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@krabgat/what-is-segwit

The arguments against Segwit are:

The block size increase is not enough to satisfy the growing needs of Bitcoin’s user base.
Others see a hidden agenda as a large number of people working on SegWit are also employed by a company called Blockstream, whose primary product is side-chain solutions.
Because a side-chain’s transaction will be verified by a trusted third party it is an unacceptable compromise because this is what the blockchain is supposed to eliminate.

The SegWit is providing solution to the following challenges in the network;

Resolve the weak spot in the Bitcoin software
Increase of the block size limit to an absolute maximum of 4 MB. The actual block size will depend on the network conditions. It is predicted by experts to be in the range of about two to 2.1 megabytes immediately after SegWit’s activation.
Remove the barrier to the implementation of second-layer solutions (side-chains) like the proposed Lightning Network. Second-layer solutions remove the bulk of the transactions off the blockchain to a side-chain.

(bcc solves these issuses and more)
If Bitcoin Cash gets majority of PoW then it becomes de facto Bitcoin.

Technically Bitcoin is a fork and Bitcoin Cash is the original blockchain. When the hard fork occurred, people had access to the same amount of coins on Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.- NIST
