I am trying to figure that out too.. Most users are referring to the white paper but I am pretty sure that those users don't understand either.
Besides that.. I don't see a lot of activity from the Waves team here..

Yeah a lot of volume but why price so low??? It looks like buy side not strong enough.

Probably whales keeping them low while accumulating at the same time in anticipation of Poloniex listing soon.

Lets see it later when they listed it on polo. dumpers and buyers are gonna be divided and soon we'll see the difference.

   They are the token that powers the platform. Instead of paying $7.99 for a trade in the stock market, you'll only pay a very small amount of waves. Since you can also buy into larger amounts of the token, people will use it as a hedge against other currencies/securities on the exchange. This is what I understand though..

When traders see 1,000 pages of investors complaining about waves not being on exchanges and how bad they want to dump their waves to buy a lambo, You will not get a pump and dump. The smart traders are over on the buy side just kickin it, waiting for these impatient get rich quick kids to dump their coins. The price will keep dropping and all the get rich quick kids will blame Sasha for not magically giving a 3000% return before the real development of the project begins.

I am really curios though if waves will ever make it to Polo. kraken is a hard one to get into. But Polo?
