Hey everyone. Could anyone tell me how to update/change my password for my WAVES wallet? I cannot use the "prefrences' tab since its under development.

Thanks!

Currently it doesn't look like there's an option to change your P/W, but it's stored locally so you can do this.

-Make sure you have your seed written down so you can restore your wallet.
-At the login screen for the lite client on your desktop, click on "remove wallet"
-Your wallet should now be wiped from your computer.
-Now restore your wallet with the seed.
-You should be prompted to create a new password.

Viola, you have changed the password!

Yea that sounds a little risky lol. Thank you for the information though. I guess It would leave your account without a password, other than your seed correct?

Well, the seed is meant to restore a wallet in any event, so I don't think this is particularly risky. Again, the password is stored locally, so it's not like you're risking getting locked out of your account. It's just a local layer of security; it's not a layer of security that exists on the blockchain.

This is why keeping your seed is so important. It's the actual "password" to your waves wallet.

If you are afraid of any risk, you could first use the seed to "restore" your wallet to another device so you have it there "just in case" but the seed is what's used to manage your waves wallet and where it can be accessed, so I don't think this is very risky at all. You should have control over your seed to begin with. Being afraid to use it is akin to being afraid of using a key to unlock the front door to your house because you're used to unlocking the back door with it.

I just went through my Waves wallet transactions.

Wasn't there a WBTC bounty for last Byteball distribution shares two weeks ago, was it?

Correct, there wasn't WBTC airdrop as used to be  Undecided

You broke it down for me great! I love that analogy on being afraid to use the key to the front door! I will reset on my laptop first. I broke up with my girlfriend and I doubt she would or even could use my account, but just in case the next guy is into crypto I wanna get it changed :> Thanks again for your help!!

Glad to be of service.

That said, i would generate an entirely new wallet with a new seed in your situation. If there's any chance that your ex might have had access to your wallet seed, then she or someone else could use that seed to "restore" your wallet on their own device and steal all your waves. In this case, it's like she might have a copy of your house key that we talked about before.

Best change the locks on the house. Restore your current wallet on one device, generate a new wallet that will give you a new seed on another device, wrote down the new wallet seed and then transfer everything from your old wallet to the new wallet.

Security is tricky and wallet seeds should be thought of as all access passwords to your wallet from anywhere because that's what they are. If there's a chance that your wallet's seed has been compromised, best create a new wallet that will give you a new seed.

If you don't think your seed has been compromise though, no worries.

Same with me i am using the chrome plugin lite client, and for the dude that lost his password you can recover your account or token in any client as long as you have the seed on that account.

I just use Chrome, not the plugin.  So it is not linked to the plugin. More kind of like a blockhain network error.
Also I use the light client v0.4.22  downloaded from github.. And you ?

Do you have any free waves, because you need at least 0.001 Waves for leasing fee? Check maybe you have some open orders which are reserved several tx fee.

Having more Waves is always good to ride higher with style and more relaxed way. Many people have accumulated in last few hours by taking advantage of the weak people which thought everything has reached to an end. My position is more stable and bag is filled with more Waves with with same investment. If you are in Crypto take risk where it deserves like Waves project.

Waves launches landmark Euro gateway
Waves, a decentralized platform for launching crowdfunding campaigns and issuing digital assets, has launched its flagship Euro gateway, allowing users of the platform to deposit and withdraw Euros from within the lite client, holding and trading them directly from their Waves accounts as WEUR blockchain tokens.
The Waves Euro token is provided through a financial arrangement with a fully licensed and compliant gateway partner. All regulatory requirements including KYC and AML are met by the partner, at the point at which money enters or leaves the blockchain.More

All crypto are going up today, waves back at 2.75$. It would be a good surprise to see it break trough the 3$ limit next week.

In Q4 2017 or Q1 2018 Waves will be on par with ETH with the smart contracts enabled.

And the UX / UI is already much better than ETH has ever been, imagine what happens as soon as the first Etherdesign "DEX UI" is released.

Compare "Mist" to the "Waves Lite Client". The first one needs a manual to add tokens, the second is easy to understand and use. And don't get me wrong, I have big stack of ETH too.

3$ is just a bump in the road, not even close to our destination.

There are a lot of projects that may raise quicker than Waves but only for Waves I can make a safe prediction it will go up, there's real tech behind it, a great community and a lot of potential.

Newbie to Waves trying to purchase but stuck as I do not have any Waves  Huh - saw from previous post that I need 0.03 to make a purchase.  This seems crazy  Roll Eyes why not just remove fee from purchased Waves - seems crazy and not helpful to first timers.  So just wondering if someone could post me 0.03 so I can get started.  Will return them  Smiley

Appreciate it.

It's an issue that should be resolved later by allowing to pay tokens fee for a transaction.
Sent you 0.003 WAVES so you can buy once on DEX.

Waves price is already slowly growing, can't imagine how high it'll go when smart contracts will be enabled :O
118k sat atm, I expect it might take quick +5-20% as many other alts.
