is there someone of the support reading here?
(because since over a year and x tries of sending documents they are ignoring all - I would like to get my send cryptos back!)
 Angry

Doubt it, their main account hasn't been online from November and I don't remember seeing any support in this thread since I got my card and that is well over a year or maybe more. Your only chance if support is ignoring you is to try twitter, maybe they will pick it up and at least give you a reply. I occasionally see the support there asking for the user's ticket numbers.

https://www.coindesk.com/mastercard-now-allows-crypto-firm-wirex-to-issue-payment-cards

Wirex can now directly issue cards as they're a principal Mastercard member.

Dunno whether this will improve everyone's lives immeasurably but I guess it removes the chances of a third party issuer flaking out on them.

I forgot about this,I wanted to post an update as I got verified at last and I have to say that support was pretty helpful and prompt with wirex.

So this happened, first with one bill, with a second, then tried again with a better camera, as I thought it was blurry and then decided to skip their automatic systems and to contact them as I kept getting error after error about wrong address. All the documents got rejected because my address in my account was typed wrong, the number of the street was mismatched with the building number and an extra letter, god knows how that ended up there, and yet I still got the cards in time and none was lost.
Nice to see them replying to me pretty fast (a few hours) and more importantly pointing clearly where the mistake was and dealing with the issue perfectly reasonable.

As for the Mastercard deal, when I read about it on their page something else caught my attention:

Quote
The Mastercard announcement marks the start of a new phase at Wirex that will revolutionise the fintech and cryptocurrency spaces. Later this year, we are planning to launch a next-generation of Wirex card for customers in the EEA region, with game-changing features including additional currencies, free international ATM withdrawals, sky-high limits and next-to-no fees, that will ensure it has a significant advantage over our competitors, some of which will be assisted with our burgeoning relationship with Mastercard.

But I have a feeling it doesn't mean getting read of the fx fees unfortunately

FX fees is relatively niche. I can't see them bothering.

Interesting to hear about the card upgrade though. Not convinced about the next to no fees. At the moment they don't mention the spread when you're converting which adds up to about 0.5-0.7% and I presume they'll carry that over.

I have noticed this myself when buying there they show you what you one amount then when you execute you get less than what it's claims your getting, happened a few times when buying litecoin from them.  Would also be nice if they were closer to market with there prices there rates are kind of poor considering the fee's for not only the card but for checking your balance at ATM they charge you everything is fees with them.

They charge you for a balance check? Sheesh.

Even with the secret spread it's still cheaper than a Coinbase card which is 2.5% but I'd rather they were straight with me. I only tend to use it when there's no other alternative but if they were more honest and charged less I they'd get more business out of me.

I would like to share how much they want to charge me for sending out some ETH today..

This is a outrageous fee for sending ETH I can also guarantee that when I send the funds they will only pay the minimum network fee and keep the rest.

They charged me a fee to deposit fiat.
They then charged me to convert
Then they charge me almost £5 to send my ETH out. ~

Surprise surprise....

Fee paid...
0.00556584 Ether ($1.97)

Absolute robbery

That is... bad. If you made use of all of their services you could be throwing away a LOT of money. I only use it for one thing - sending BTC, converting it and spending it on the card. I have better options for the other stuff.

It would be interesting if someone put together a thread comparing the costs of each service doing everyday things - depositing, sending, converting. People might be surprised at how quickly it adds up.

I have used them for many years now I must have paid $100's in fees by now I think this time thought was the last straw charging that kind of money to send out some eth is discussing the fact they only paid such a small amount to the network and they charged me for the conversion from FIAT to ETH then hovered up the rest for themselves.

Used to use them every week but there fee's are going up each time I use it no wonder they make so much money if they take £3 from every user to send there funds yet they have already been charged for buying..

I hope wirex read this but I really doubt it so I sent it to there customer care team with a letter of disgust at there fee structure

Criminal fees wirex... Criminal fees..

From my experience If you're in the EU area with a Euro card and you stick to buying things from local shops or online shops based inside the EU area so no other bs fees get involved the cost is not that high.
Right now I have an exchange rate of 9468 compared to 9593 at Bitfinex and 9625 at Bitstamp, that is around 1.4-1.6% , you lose another 2% of the exchange from BTC to euro, probably more if you do it in small batches as I can't figure out exactly what this commission is as it obviously has a minimum (not specified on their webpage). I tried for fun to exchange 50 cents of satoshi and the preview page shows a 25 cents fee, tried with 25 it dropped to 12, 100 euros is 1.5.

But overall it's not that much, the problems start if you try to use it outside the Euro area, one on top of others add up pretty fast to almost 5-7.5%.
Oh, and another thing, pretty weird.

I tried in Hungary last year both cards, the USD and the EUR.
The USD card had a fee of 60 cents/10 USD, the EURO had a 0.40 cents fee for 13 Euros, same chainstore...no clue why.

Hmm. I'll have to double check what rate I'm getting for GBP. Yours is worse than I thought it would be.

Well, no one should be surprised by that. It's the same for any other card though I can imagine they load it a bit and any prepaid card is likely to be higher. My normal bank debit card adds 2.75% to any foreign currency transaction.

You have to either pay for a premium bank account with that perk or go for some puppet show app like Revolut.

I'm getting bombarded with messages from Wirex about their new crypto crowdfunding platform or whatever that is and then when I finally managed to open the last email I've seen they are trying to do anything to grab your money. Invest in the token, invest in the company, invest in FinTech..
I'm starting to wonder if they actually authorized to conduct all this kind of stuff?

They do claim some real volume growth in revenues over the last year, I don't think they re lying about that but this race for cash is triggering the wrong vibe, I even turned off notifications from their app as I was getting one or two a day.

Anyone registered for this new "project" of theirs? Or planning on "investing"?

Seen it. Discarded it.

I automatically ignore anything of that nature from anyone. If they can't make money doing what they're supposed to do then I'm not throwing any more at them.

Did much become of their shittoken or whatever it was?

The price did jump in one day back in July, I guess it was the day with the Mastercard deal announcement but the hype died pretty fast.
I'm really surprised they haven't managed to prop up the price for it, comparing the market cap to what business revenue they claim to have.

Yeah, I got one. Looks like they're just crowdfunding. It's probably not worth it unless you think there's potential for the company to grow which is getting increasingly more difficult as there's far too much competition and much better sites with far cheaper fees. The debit card was a big plus back in the day but now lots of companies are offering them with much better rates. I'm surprised people still use wirex to be honest. Haven't used it in years but the fees were bad back then and they're seemingly much worse now.

This is usual practice in VC world, you raise money every 2-3 years. Especially if business is good as you attract bigger fish by that (big whale investors).

More resources means more growth... Doesn't mean things can't go sour though.

I have some WXT that I've got in "pre-sale" and that's still in green, barelly though.

Hopefully this "CrowdFunding" pumps WXT a bit and I cash out... I don't believe they are competitive anymore.

It sticks in my craw a bit when companies with what should be a successful revenue stream go down that road, though of course they know many people will swallow it. They're in one of the few truly dependable areas of this market, converting money, so there should be little need for it but obviously the temptation is too much to resist.

For me at least I'd rather be using a long established legacy company for this process and the day is approaching.

I found the crowdfund emails surprising as well. I recall they recently ran a token sale, wonder if they need to scale or are just doing a quick cash grab? This is a bit concerning IMO.

They know the crowd they have so they'd be stupid not to milk them. I guess the tricky part is the aftermath when your shittoken turns out to be brown and sticky too. Seems a bit stupid to burn good will but they do have something of a captive audience.

Then I guess I'm a part of a very small minority. I'd risk saying most of us who usually write here are that minority...
