Title.

So. Electric cars are gaining in popularity, therefore the popularity of gasoline will be going down. Won't the price go down, leaving the oil industry in trouble?
In the long run it is going to to hurt the oil industry that is a fact. The majority of the people still owns a car that runs on gasoline but in the future I believe that more people are going to get a electric car.

It might happen in the future in a particular country can remedy the shortage of electricity, in our country we have a rotational brown out because of the electricity shortage, so we have a little chance to fully adopt the electric car plan.

Eh, sooner or later, there will be no more oil. So that's actually a moot point.

Not gonna happen, oil is still in existence in the future, we cannot fully adopt to electric cars as there are other cars that runs well with the use of oils. Especially those big cars.

Now they are not that because most people still own a car that runs on gasoline but I think that in the future more people will use electric cars. I think that the oil industry will be not out of business because allot more things need oil.

They are not badw but they represent some kind of threat..If there wasn't a strong oilw lobby we would have driven electric cars long time ago. They are much safer for the environment but as long as there is oil electric cars will not be dominant

They are not bad because it can less the polution in the air and it can cure global warming but in terms of oil industry it has bad great impact to their economy because the major oil user is automobile sector and if happens that electric car will running in streets now well we can see a economic crisis on those country relying on oil,  and maybe it can effect also in global market trad

I know there's a shortage of oil in the middle East especially in the Saudi Arabia and UAE but I don't think oil will be out of the market but there
is a possibility that we will run out of oil in the due time. But oil will always be there,
Even the cars are going to be electric.

Im also thinking on that matter big cars or ships that only diesel oils or fuel to be use to run its engines .also the factor that oils are limited .Oils can't reproduce or produce oils again .

i don't think that electric cars are affecting the oil industry as i can see the oil price from the world market are continuing to rising . it will never affect the oil industry i think , because electric cars are not made to replace the fueled vehicle it is made just to lessen the use of diesel and to lessen the air pollution . it is just an alternative vehicle but it can be very helpful to preserve our environment .

There is no shortage of oil, especially in the Middle East. Roll Eyes
Saudi Arabia is still cranking out oil to maintain market share. They can afford to do it for many more years.

it will change the world.

maybe it would compete the oil companies but the oil has one of the largest demands on the market i don't think it would bring them in trouble . not all people all over the world are using electric cars , fueled cars and the oil are still the most prefered to use of the consumers so this is not threat for the oil companies but i hope that this electric cars would change the world like what you've said .

Oil industry will go down in few years time because of pollution problems.

May be in the long-term future. But oil industry will be here for the next 20-25 years at least. It is not possible to replace the hundreds of millions of gasoline-run vehicles overnight. And it is not going to happen until a reliable alternative is found. Electric cars, which use Lithium batteries are not going to replace gasoline cars. The simple reason being there is not that much Lithium available on earth, to manufacture so many batteries.

Oil industry is going down because of 3 reasons:

1- Pollution. As companies are forced to design more environment friendly engines, oil consumption is getting lower and lower with the new cars every year.

2- Electric cars. They are already rivaling oil cars and in the future they will be the only choice for most people.

3- Political reasons. Look at the biggest oil producers: Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran. (I am excluding Norway and Venezuela from those. They can be ignored.)What do those countries have in common? They all are the enemies of the State. Why suddenly those electric cars popped up? Why now? To me they are not rocket science to make them. I am not bashing the intelligence of Elon Musk obviously he is 100 times more intelligent than me, but still, when i examined the tesla model s/3 plans i asked this to myself: Why haven't anyone thought that till now? It is simply because USA wasn't having major troubles with those countries till now. USA wants them to get weaker and weaker by cutting their most important export income. That's like a preparation for World War III.

Electric cars can't replace lots of oil based vehicle specially heavy vehicles as electric power will not be enough and replacing the existing gasoline based machines and engines with electric engine is not easy and may take decades to do so. So i don't think it will affect the oil price sometime soon.

I think that it will take some time (some years) , but in my opinion, the change from fuel based to battery ones will be faster than traditional car makers and oil companies expect.
