Yeah, Bitpay is out too:

Hello, BitPay Card users,

Yesterday our European BitPay Card issuer Wave Crest Holdings, Ltd. received direction from Visa® to immediately close all accounts of its prepaid Visa® debit card programs.

The BitPay Card (non-US) is one of these programs, along with other cryptocurrency-related and standard prepaid Visa® debit cards. Unfortunately, Wave Crest was unable to provide us or cardholders with more time to prepare for this change.
What does this change mean for you?

Your BitPay Card account is now deactivated, and you will not be able to use it for further payments or withdrawals.

You can continue to log in to your BitPay Card dashboard for access to payment history, load history, and other important information.
What happens to your money?

You will get a refund for your ending card balance and for any outstanding card loads. We will be working with Wave Crest to make sure that all card balances return to our cardholders quickly.

If you ordered the BitPay Card recently, you expected to have much more time to use it. BitPay will offering card order fee refunds for all users who ordered on or after 1 December 2017.

We will be sending you another email in the coming days with more details on claiming your refund(s). We appreciate your patience as we respond to this sudden change. We will be working hard to assist our full international cardholder base through this transition.
What is next for the BitPay Card?

We are already in discussions with potential alternative issuers for the BitPay Card which will allow us to serve customers in Europe and beyond. The BitPay Card will continue to be available for users in the United States without interruption, and we expect to be back in your country soon.

As part of our commitment to BitPay Card users, we will send you an email when the BitPay Card becomes available in your country again. If you still want a BitPay Card, we will give you a card free of charge.

We're disappointed that we can't serve you anymore (for now, at least). And we're sorry that this change is going to take away a tool which many of you rely on. But we want to sincerely thank you for using our card. We appreciate having had the chance to work with you, and we hope you'll continue to get value from BitPay's bitcoin wallet app and payment processing tools.

If you have any questions or issues in the meantime, please reach out to our team.

Best,

The BitPay Team

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Anyone know where I can get a virtual gift card or Pre-paid debit card from without ID and verification since Wirexapp has stopped doing them?

nope. it's europeans today too. that one you've linked to is an old story.

americans are still ok. everyone else is now screwed. this is because almost all of these cards only go through one company. if that one company has problems then it's goodbye everything basically.

they're all claiming they're gonna find a new provider. it'll be interesting to see if they manage it. i'm doubtful.

Monaco is unaffected by the WaveCrest issue that is affecting other crypto cards. Monaco works with WireCard and doesn't need to do cross-border issuing.

Exactly my thoughts!
They are already trying to take advantage of the current situation:
https://twitter.com/monaco_card/status/949294877979766784

If anyone needs a working alternative:
https://mistertango.com/en/mastercard/

Their Mastercard is issued by Wirecard and not by WaveCrest and therefore is unaffected by VISA´s decision.
The provider is pretty reliable and only has 1-2 little downsides in my opinion. If you want to know
more about them there are already a few threads about Mistertango at Bitcointalk and they even have
their own representative on this board.

TokenCard

https://www.reddit.com/r/TokenCard/comments/7ocpiz/our_new_issuer/

Greetings all,
The vision for TokenCard has always been to marry the power of the Ethereum network with the global reach of the payments networks. This coupling unleashes onto the world a product of unparalleled financial access and control: from the (newly?) wealthy to those looking to regain control of their own finances, and by extent lives, the TokenCard is the epitome, the holy grail, of payment platforms.
This vision has always been a global one. To that end we have been on the lookout for an issuer that can provide us with the flexibility we need to complete this vision. In 2015, at the time of us first engaging our original issuing partner, WaveCrest, they had been able to help us fulfil this goal: through passive issuance we would be able to send cards to a near global market.
Over time WaveCrest’s situation evolved causing them to lose their ability to do global passive issuance; cards would only be sent within the EU. This however wouldn’t suffice for us, and we expedited our plans to work with larger and more sophisticated issuers with global reach.
Now, WaveCrest has been forced to indefinitely suspended all card activities, spelling the end of an era for them.
Today, with great excitement, we want to announce that we’ve been working in stealth on a new partnership with a prominent and large issuer. With our new partner we will have the ability to deploy cards globally. YES, that includes the US. China however is out with this one (but worry not 😉).
Alas, we had not intended to reveal our strategic launch plans this soon. We had wanted to announce the global rollout of TokenCard on the day we actually would be able to start shipping en masse.. for effect.
In short, the negatives:
Before we can launch we will need to complete API integration with the new issuer
A significant amount of time has been put into WaveCrest
Potential for panicky community
Positives:
API integration will be quicker thanks to lessons learnt and back end already being completely in place
Issuers are somewhat drag-and-droppable, little modification to the entire codebase is needed to get
The entire early mover advantage any competition had (Xapo, Wirex, Tenx) has been wiped away as their cards stopped working this morning. It has become a complete green field market, the clock has been reset and things are going to get juicy. The market is ours for the taking
WaveCrest is a large single point of failure since the bulk of crypto projects are with them. Moving away from this concentration decrease our risks accordingly. Additional issuers might be put in place in paralel.
We will be able to ship cards globally! This includes major markets such as the US and South Korea.
More sophisticated fulfilment and card material options.
NFC, contactless! Will be available from day 1! This is a big deal here in the UK, but also in Korea, Canada and Australia.
We are working fast to seize the moment. Stay tuned.
More details on country restrictions will follow.
To the team at WaveCrest I want to thank them for all their work. The team there is filled with stars who have simply found themselves in an unfortunate situation. Our engagement with WaveCrest stretches far back and our card product only just missed public deployment with them. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed working with their excellent team.
We wish you guys all the best. Truly.
Best,
Mel Gelderman and the Token team.

Received notification from Spectrocoin:
Quote
Dear Cardholder,

Yesterday our card issuer Wave Crest Holdings, Ltd. received direction from Visa® to immediately close all of its prepaid Visa® debit card program accounts. That means that the SpectroCoin prepaid card service is temporarily unavailable until we work out the issue. Thus, we strongly urge our cardholders to unload their card balances to a SpectroCoin wallet immediately to ensure further access to funds.

What does this change mean for you?

Your SpectroCoin card is currently deactivated, and you will no longer be able to use it for payments. You can continue to access the payment history, load history, and other important information. You are also able to unload your funds to a SpectroCoin wallet, and we strongly urge to do so as soon as possible.

What is next for SpectroCoin card?

We are deeply sorry that we are temporarily unable to offer you our prepaid card service. However, we want to emphasize that we will not leave our customers without a solution and we already have an agreement with a new card provider that will allow SpectroCoin to offer card services worldwide. We will announce the news regarding our new card solution soon as at the moment we are working on technical implementation. All current SpectroCoin cardholders will receive new SpectroCoin cards free of charge once they are live.

If you have any further questions regarding the SpectroCoin prepaid card service, please email helpdesk@spectrocoin.com

I did have my cards shut down, they were all issued by wavecrest.

So what are the best alternatives now? I sent some emails, but it's in all honesty quite the jungle out there. I liked XAPO for being registered in Switzerland. Bitwala out of Germany. Is there stable companies out there?
And which ones function like XAPO (did), where the balance is drawn from the crypto balance? I.e. no preloading and preconversion?

If anyone needs a working alternative:
https://mistertango.com/en/mastercard/

The fees are too big imho: "1% but no less than 0.0025BTC" for each Bitcoin deposit.

So what are the best alternatives now?

Also doing my research, as you see. Quite hard task Smiley
I could use more ideas myself.

I agree, that is one of the downsides that I talked about. By the way, the fee
for Bitcoin deposits used to be "1 % with no less than 0.005 BTC". They have already halved it after user
complaints, maybe they will slash it even further if enough users complain about the
fees.

The other downside is that ATM withdrawals (except the 1 withdrawal up to 200 € that
is free every month) cost 2 % with a minimum fee of 3 €. That is on top of eventual charges
by the ATM operator that can be another 1-3 % depending on the country where you use
the card.

Tried to deposit: the fee for 1000EUR worth of BTC was around 100-120EUR. Sounds a bit too steep.

Another concern: they mention on their website they're controlled and supervised by the Bank of Lithuania? Does it mean they're reporting bigger transactions to the tax offices of EU states? Also read here on this forum but in another thread that they used to ask for proof of income for bigger transactions? Otherwise seems a good alternative to WaveCrest cards.

Hmm, on their website it states that they charge 3% in bitcoin fees. But as with any other of these providers, 3% of what rate? Stamp? Finex? 3% to begin with is quite high, imho.  Personally, I think 2-2.5% of stamp is ok.

+1

I am also interested in an alternative card with no preconversion. I have a working Advcash but the conversion is immediate when you deposit.

Try Mistertango and their free MasterCard. Now that Wave Crest cards are no longer valid, that’s one alternative to consider.

I used to have a WageCan card but was very disappointed with their service. I cannot recommend it.

In the absence of options, it seems P2P trading is one of the few remaining ways to convert coins to cash.

There is another less known and used system of transferring money called Visa Personal Payments. Has anyone tried it?
