Also included a -175mV (memory) rom for those with a Silicon lottery loser.

(Noticed that a few of my cards seem to be having problems with -200mV)

New Update
Details rom usage.
---------------
Ethereum tests:

134 Mh/s @ 2.25A, 495watt (6 Cards) stock settings rom

185 Mh/s @ 4.8A, 1050 watt (6 Cards) 1020 Core, 300 Mem

Details package
---------------
-175mV(memory) rom
-200mV(memory) rom (only for the silicon lottery winners!)
Atiflash (command line flash tool)
AtiWinFlash (Gui version)
Readme.txt

Details ROM
-----------
Core voltage is set at -100mV
You can go lower with software like afterburner.
Do this in steps. F.e. +6mV, if stable, try +12mV.. and so on..

I noticed that -100mV is the most stable for all cards (i have 100 so i know..)
Some will even do -125mV without issues.

Memory Voltage is set at -200mV
This will work just fine with this rom when mining Ethereum or any other low memory usage algo.

Core clock is set at 800 stock but can easily be raised to 1000 or higher.
Memory Clock is set at 300 stock, this can also be raised but i would advice not to. IT has not point anyway....

AtiFlash.exe
------------
I use this one because i just like it and has never given me any issues.
It is NOT possible to use a version of atiflash when your system is loaded with a bootable drive (ex. Win 98 USBboot)

Steps:
1. Unpack everything to a folder of your choice.
2. Run cmd as administrator, go to where your folder is located.
3. To flash enter atiflash -p -f 0 DPM-200mV.rom, wait until atiflash tells you to restart.

!!!: Do NOT have HWiNFO , GPU-Z, MSI AB, etc running in the background when flashing card!

AtiWinflash.exe
--------------
Run as Administrator.
Easy does it...

Issues?
-------
I would advice everyone, after you flash your card(s) to remove your driver with DDU
and reinstall your driver. This always works! It takes some more time but it's worth it.

You can however just restart (don't just restart, completely shut down your system) "Power off!",
go to crimson preferences and reset everything.

Remove any profiles you have in afterburner (Program Files(x86) - MSI Afterburner - Profiles)
Remove settings from Trixx
Idem for any other OC tools.

You can always contact me with questions!

Greetings

Heliox.

I've got a few pm's with people asking me for a donation address.
Well. okay than.. :p

Some old info and blabla:

Hey,

As we all know, the R9 Nano is one of the most energy efficient GPU's out there at this moment.

In the past months i've done numerous of tests on how to get this card as stable and as power efficient as possible.

I've been thinking about sharing my results and tests and came to the conclusion to keep it short and as helpful as possible for every Nano owner out there.

To make a long story short.

I modded my Sapphire Nano rom (with some help from someone) to the point that it almost dropped 50% in power usage at the same speed  Grin

For example:
My nano rig (6 x Nano) would do around 170Mh/s "give or take" on Ethereum (stock settings) while pulling 6.8Amps from the wall!
So that's around 1500watt.

I could pull that down to around 5A with -100mV on the core clock, also stock clocks! Not bad at all! (Afterburner). "1100watt"

So with only doing that i would win 400 watt and some serious temperature changes.

Well, that wasn't enough for me :p

So i started messing around with the bios "rom".

I managed to modify the bios to set the stock vddc to -100mV (Afterburner's maximum negative offset is -100mV).
I also managed to modify the MVDDC, "Memory Voltage", also to -100mV (can't even do that in afterburner :p).

Ran another test with settings in afterburner at stock, didn't change a thing. And guess what?

Yeah, power went down to 4.85A Smiley "1055watt" another 45watt win. (not much but it's something!)

Now here comes the good part.

Because the card is now at stock -100mV, that means i can pull it even lower with Afterburner.

So yeah, obviously i did that. I managed to squeeze another -18mV out of it without going crazy :p (lower would result in driver failure).

Yup, another win in power! 4.7ishA! "1035" watt. Still at stock clocks and same speed!

Then the best part.

Obviously i wanted to find the best power/hash ratio.

Conclusion. 800 Core clock, my modded rom, -18mV in afterburner and 300 Memclock.

2.4A "530watt", 6 cards, 140Mh/s Ethereum.

Voila :-)

I'm sharing my rom but would want to warn other Nano users. My Nano's are Sapphire's. I'm not sure how this rom will react on a nano from another Company.

So please be careful. (you have a secondary bios switch, so you can always switch back)

For all the *nix users out there. This might be very interesting for you guys because i know what a hassle it is to change voltage in linux. Yeah.. not...

Also, if you want to flash in Linux, that isn't possible right now. You'll need Windows. (And not a bootable version! Won't work on Fiji..)

Ps. Cards/configs may still be submitted to mininghwcomparison.com!  Cool

Enjoy!

Ill try this rom on my nanos, pretty much given up on tweaking the 390s too many issues it seems with those ones

thanks

Do you think your roms works with Powercolor r9 nano?

Yup, should work just fine!

Basically the only thing that's different is the sticker on the fan Smiley

Edit: Working on my Rom for my R9 390 Nitro's (Sapphire).. will update op as soon as i'm ready and tested it firmly Smiley

What is the model number of your Sapphire R9 390. If I buy it next time, I would like to get the same one.

Newegg is a good company. I do not think that is a scam. You can also pay with bitcoin there. So it is fine.

Still working on that, well, it's ready, but seemed to be having some issues after a while. System froze after 14hrs.

Doing a retest as we speak.

I updated the op with new roms for nano

This time i added -100mV, -106mV, -112mV, -118mV and -125mV memory clock.

Core clock is still at -100mV (if you have issues with this (some cards seem to be behaving a little stubborn Smiley (Mostly When a Monitor is Attached!).
If so, just pump up the voltage with +6mV in afterburner or Trixx or any other tool you use.

Link for this package in OP.

Is that because the memory voltage is too low or the timing is too tight? How low is the voltage you set?

First, thanks for all your great work, and your willingness to share it! Second, have you done anything with disabling ROPs and, perhaps, some of the CUs (I know they are not all needed for the ETH algo)? Disabling ROPs would presume a headless miner, but if you get past a couple rigs, that's probably what you're running (like me, for instance Smiley. There may be some nice power savings there!

Hey,

You're welcome Smiley

I haven't really spent any time on that though. Basically because all my rigs are headless and have never given me problems with that.

I can reboot, shut down, restart and they'll run just fine.

Regarding the power savings that i could gain with that, maybe, i could check it out and do some tests.

i'll report back Smiley

Sorry, I guess I didn't communicate well. Smiley The ROPS tweaks *would* affect people still using their desktop. It would *not* affect headless rigs. With headless rigs, anything having to do with actual video rendering can be disabled for potential power savings. At least that's my understanding.

First off I would like to say Thank you for releasing this modified bios for those of us comfortable enough to flash our cards, but not 100% sure on how to successfully mod a bios rom. I'm looking to purchase some Nanos and wondering if you prefer a specific manufacturer over another? I know you said since they are reference designs they are all the same for the most part, but just wondering if you've found a certain brand is easier to work with than others?

Say maybe ASUS and Gigabyte > XFX and Sapphire?

Say maybe ASUS and Gigabyte > XFX and Sapphire?

There is no difference between them, the only difference is the stick on the card and the after sale service.
