Heliox - just to update that I managed to get the -175mV working on the new batch of Nanos.

I have not got all 6 cards in a complete setup yet, but testing on 1 card is a success.
I will run it overnight before flashing the other cards.
I will report the kill-lo-watt meter readings tomorrow morning.

As of now, with -175mV rom:
-6mV,1040/300 = 30.3MHs at fans= fix 60%, temps 67-68c
and
stock -175mV,800/300 = 22.4MHs, temps 62-63c, auto fans

I am tempted to try the -200mV rom.

Is it normal that some rigs will have 150 roms and some 175 roms, mixed configs in your environment?
how do you guys mnaage to raise the core on the modded rom cards ? i have several -175 six card rigs and th seccnd i change to core from 800 to even 950 the box crashes

In Windows, you can use the MSI afterburner to raise/reduce the core voltage. The memory voltage is not changeable.

Read my post i said i tried that and it box crashes whenever i change the core from the 800 to anything higer

windows 10, even with a clean install same thing happens.

Hi Marvell,

I had exactly the same problem. Reason is that some of your nanos cannot cope with -175mv while some can.

I had 6 nanos shipped from Amazon and I made the mistake that I applied the same rom to ALL of them. However, each card is different. I even was very unlucky, and had one card that even cannot cope with a -100mv mem voltage! Hence my rig always crashed when increasing the core speed. Unfortunately I also used this gpu when I only tested with one nano...

Therefore my recommendation:
- Test each nano separately and see what mem voltage it does not crash with when you increase the core speed and start the mining

I had the following results:
GPU 1: -100core/-75mem: -100mem lets the system crash. Currently I manually reduce the core clock to -100 (there is only one -75/-75 rom here)
GPU 2: -175 mem
GPU 3: -175 mem
GPU 4: -150 mem
GPU 5: -70core/ -150 mem: Claymore's miner shows a lot of invalid shares for this gpu. I increased the core clock and now it's better though there are still some invalid shares from time to time
GPU 6: Dead - getting replacement

Some other issues: when running headless, max 640x480 resolution when using vnc. Had to purchase a dummy plug. Now it works.

I'm thinking of reducing further the core clocks (except GPU5), but first I want to run this rig for some days to see its stability.

Hope this helps! And Helios, great job! Looking forward to your other roms.

Cheers,
Talan

Hey guys,

made a big package with 156 roms.

includes A LOT of nano roms, so i'm sure there's something in there for everyone Smiley,
also includes a bunch of roms for the 390 Nitro w/ backplate cards.
and modded 390 roms for 290 reference cards (those are not mine, but i included them because they're awesome).

Thanks lot. Do you have one for the XFX 1015 with back plate? I remember you have that card.

thanks fr the info all my nanos are the xfx cards excet fr a few asus and saphire here and there what youre saying makes sense all the nanos run the 175 mod fine as lng as i dont touch the clocks and the further accet anther -12 mv undervolt all this is fine right now for the summer 23.6 mhs eth and 1200 dcr at 130 watts at summer elecrtic prices works well for me in the winter when its cooler and electrcity is cheaper ill take your advice and figure out what mod i can use that wil alowe for higer core clocks

A couple of noob questions here.

a) Does down volting the memory system effect hash rate or just power consumption ?

b) Do ULPS settings matter ?

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing.

A) Power consumption (for some also stability)

B) ULPS (Ultra-Low Power State) You can compare this to your television that you turn off, it goes into stand-by. So basically for mining, pointless.

If anyone is trying to keep track of bad cards, mine are XFX Nanos purchased from Amazon beginning of April. They crash after 950Mhz on elivops -100mV rom with +100mV in afterburner. Using powered USB risers and H81 BTC board. Plugging in molex let me push them to 970Mhz before crashing. I'm going to try the -25mV roms the person above uploaded and test them.

First of all i want to thank Eliovp for the sharing of knowledge and all the thread participants for the added infos.

I'm on the -175mV rom since 4 days now and all is fine but headless boot won't work.
I need to plug hdmi to monitor and it boots fine
at the moment i have two nanos on usb risers and one on motherboard, one 700W PSU
mobo is H81 Pro BTC and i'm booting lubuntu with claymore's on thumb usb

@Eliovp: i think i have read u have the same mobo and same cpu celeron g1840 did u have issues on headless booting?

also i'm on 312w reading on killawatt for mobo+3nanos with your stock -175mV rom audio and sata's disabled is that good? i thowght i'd go lower with 75watt for each nano i was expecting.

i'm going to try -200mV stock soon.

Thank you again Smiley

good mining to all.

good mining to all.

envy you.

all my sapphires nanos couldn't make it with -175mod and -200mod.

the ones that made it only hit the -150mod.

but these nanos have already saved me a lot even at stock compared to my power hungry MSI 390s.

I hope I can get those 480s soon

Accroding to one report, the 480 are not so good for Ethereum mining.

AMD is launching a new overclocking tool for the RX 400 series with voltage control, oh and the RX 480 is capable of 1.5Ghz+ clock speeds. You heard that right folks! We got a good one for you today. We shared the impressive performance figures for AMD’s reference designed RX 480 4GB & 8GB cards just a couple of days ago, both of which came out ahead of the R9 Nano & GTX 980. It’s about time we dove into the overclocking aspect of the red team’s latest Radeon graphics card retailing on the 29th of June.

AMD’s $199 RX 480 Is Even More Impressive When Overclocked:
With the Radeon RX 480 and the RX 400 series in general AMD wants every user to be able to extract even more value out of their RX 400 series graphics card. Beyond what they’d normally get straight out of the box. The key to achieve this is to make overclocking more accessible, more convenient and more valuable. This is where AMD’s new overclocking tool will play an instrumental role in supercharging the bang behind every buck.

are you dual mining? dual mining uses way more power btw you wont get much more reduction from the 200 bios o ran both of them the power use is the same.  eth only mining you will get 80watts claymore with say 50 dcri you go up to 125 watts and max of 100 dcri i was seeing 150 watts

also i'm on 312w reading on killawatt for mobo+3nanos with your stock -175mV rom audio and sata's disabled is that good? i thowght i'd go lower with 75watt for each nano i was expecting.

i'm going to try -200mV stock soon.

Thank you again Smiley

good mining to all.

are you dual mining? dual mining uses way more power btw you wont get much more reduction from the 200 bios o ran both of them the power use is the same.  eth only mining you will get 80watts claymore with say 50 dcri you go up to 125 watts and max of 100 dcri i was seeing 150 watts

Not tried dual mining yet with my nanos
will try that soon to Smiley

First of all i want to thank Eliovp for the sharing of knowledge and all the thread participants for the added infos.

I'm on the -175mV rom since 4 days now and all is fine but headless boot won't work.
I need to plug hdmi to monitor and it boots fine
at the moment i have two nanos on usb risers and one on motherboard, one 700W PSU
mobo is H81 Pro BTC and i'm booting lubuntu with claymore's on thumb usb

good mining to all.

You're very welcome!

Yup, headless booting is an issue as well, but i don't really need it tbh..

Should be around 75-80W per card. It is so over here Smiley

Anyhow, got a new rom, 1.5Mh speed increase per card for Ethereum at the same power usage Wink, in my case, that's 8Mh extra per rig which is a lot Wink

will release it soon!

Greetings!

Really curious how what did you do to the ROM to increase speed at the same wattage?
Increasing the core/mem clock will result in increase power usage, so I think something else?

The Rom drops the core and the memory voltage, without affecting the frequency. So for the same power, higher hash.

Hello eveyone,

I'm very noob here, just a few question as I have read through the whole 19 pages already but wasn't able to find the answer. On the r9 390, I see that you guys have posted the maxim efficiency settings but I can't seem to find how much power each rig draws. For example what would a r9 390 x 6 rig draw on power and so forth.

Thank you for the time to read and answer this noob question!

I can put only 5 x 390s on my 1600w EVGA-G2-1600 drawing about 1350 total watts.

AB: underclocked -100mV, slightly overclocked core and mem, 1050/1125

Adding a 6th card will breach 1600w by just a bit.

For a EVGA which is a good PSU, 6 cards should be ok but not advisable.

Fully OCed the 390 can go up to 30ish MHs mining ETH using CDMv4.6 and draw as much as 270w per GPU.

With some ROM modding, I bet you can get 6 cards under 1600w PSU.

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

Thank you for the info. So two EVGA 80+ GOLD 1000W would do fine with 6xR9 390 rig, correct? 3 GPU on one psu and the other 3 GPU plus Mobo and others on the other psu, should be fine? Also will this draw more than 20A?
