I get 290ish w stock bios on V8, is there any better hr with modified ROMs?

with the -100mV ones, the Nanos runs lower power and less heat, but I managed only 260-280 H/s.

with the power savings, I dont mind with lower hash.

the Nanos are easily the best performer in my small farm, followed by 390s then.... then 480s.

@citronick are those the bioses with the 300 mv undervolt ? the ones that work for eth ? or are they different i cant find the rom you are talking about ?  All my nanos
are stock around 270h/s but use a ton of power even after 100mv undervolt

-100mV ROM mods from Heliox - I got good power savings less heat too when mining Zcash and Monero.

With HBM 8GB and more compute cores, most of my Nanos are super performing currently at zcash.flypool

At stock settings without mods, Nanos uses far lower power compared to 390s but with -100mV I can achieve a good 30ish more watts savings below TDP 150w. Unfortunately, I could get past -100mV ROMs.... a few managed the -150mV ROMs but crashed after an hour. So I decided to just use -100mV version for all my Nanos.

When mining ETH, with Claymore 7.4, power and heat will increase up to 20-30%.

Btw, 16.7.2 seems to be good for Nanos.... however, I have one Nano rig with latest Crimson installed recently... and I couldnt tell the difference.... anyways, if it aint broke dont fix it -- so all my remaining Nanos are still with 16.7.2

I only uvolted with AB 96mv( the most allowed), and get 1750H/s@1200W (6 gpus) from the wall. Even just using sw for uvolting its getting better results, any mem settigs just made it slower, so its 1000/500

Just thought I would share my benchmarking of the R9 nano.

All power measurements were done at the wall to be 100% accurate.
Benchmarks were done with: Claymore ETH - v7.4 (not dual mining)   &  Claymore ZEC - v8.0 (-i 4)

Stock:
1 gpu: ETH: 26.8 h/s Watts: 205w
1 gpu: ZEC: 272 h/s Watts: 200w

-100mV ROM
1 gpu: ETH:  22 h/s Watts:  103w
1 gpu: ZEC: 211 h/s Watts:  91w

-125mV ROM
1 gpu: ETH:   22 h/s Watts: 84w
1 gpu: ZEC: 217 h/s Watts: 90w

What an amazing piece of hardware, thank you for the mods.

It seems the the -25 mV extra memory undervolt just makes 1W difference. For my R9 nano, if I use -150 mV, they can run at 400 memory speed.

Had anyone brought a r9 back from the dead?

I have a dead card, no boot, fan runs , but cant see it in device manager, or see it in ati flash....someone posted something about a 1+8 pin reset but that was for a rx480 , anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

Do you use the win or dos atiflash? I had a card wich was invisible in dos mode, but at winatiflash I could write the ROMs.
R9 PRODUOs perform great on V9, its 720@370w could manage 770 stable, but with overvolt only.

First of all, don't use dos to flash gpu's newer than 290's.

Further, the copper wire trick works fine, used it plenty of times Wink
If that doesn't work, send it back. No other option beyond this.

Here's a very nice post by Caligvla explaining in detail what to do.

See note from HELIOX:

Been getting so many pm's regarding the "dead links" issue.

mininghwcomparison.com <-- used to be owned by me, obviously not anymore.

However, the files are still on my server and can still be accessed.

I already changed the links in the op and i know i have posted several other roms here and there, so for those stumbling upon a dead link,
just change the "http://www.mininghwcomparison.com/" part to "http://62.212.74.86/~mining/" and it'll work just fine.

Greetings.

Hrmph .. Are there any tutorials on hex editing roms? Having to use Trixx / AB etc to do a -100mV is a pain, surely that can be done statically in the vBIOS / rom.

Haha, no not really, i posted an RX rom somewhere with vddc offset, not sure where :p

Probably not going to create a thread regarding this. But perhaps some day..

Hotmetal... the 480 thread is here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1584617.msg15910357#msg15910357

scroll all the way down -- all the links to 480 mods are there.

I personally use the "480lowpowerOK" one for all my 480s with great results, saves power, not too hot and fast enough.
