Ways on how to get the password of a user or of an account :

Dictionary Attacks
Bruteforce
Keylogger
Cookies of your websites and etc

So becareful of what your doing, Click at your own risk !

don't make me laugh dictionary attacks and brute force ,are you serious. it will take ages to get into, even with a super computer if you have a good password and everyone does use a strong pass for sure, the other two .keylogger ,malware and cookie hijacks are a reality and it is the easiest way to get into anyone's privacy  Wink

Youd be surprised how many set no password at all. I dont think everyone uses a strong password and some wallets are badly defended against brute force attacks as well.

yes, in fact someone broke my pass on gmail, and i can assure you that it was a strong password with plenty of different characters and upper case etc, i'm lucky that i have the 2fa

so is definitely possible to brute force a password

That hacker sees you got good background that is why he did it even if it takes too much time. Brute force takes like a day or two before gettig a password. That is a hell of a patience for that asshead hacker.

Most of the time, the only way you can get your Bitcoin hacked is if:

A. You occupy the same address too many times.
B. You have tied personal info with it.
C. You don't occupy some type of antivirus/malware/malicious adware software.

No it is not possible to hack bitcoins, or to use some technique so that withdraw bitcoin from someone account/wallet without any access to their account.
But if hack someones wallet. then you can transact bitcoins from their wallet to your own.
yeah, bitcoin can't be hacked as far as I know, but the thing is bitcoin can be stolen from your wallet, but if you secure your wallet with 2fa, saving your private key in safe place, your wallet will be safe I think.

Youd be surprised how many set no password at all. I dont think everyone uses a strong password and some wallets are badly defended against brute force attacks as well.

that is silly, if they are serious and have a good amount of BTC i am sure they will lock it up ,if not its simply a recipe for disaster . have't done any testing in a long time, so dont know about all the wallets . if anyone is serious about collecting BTC ,better have a good encryption and find a good wallet.

The argument is that its more likely to lose bitcoin because of a lost password than it is because of a hack. This might be true for some people, but those are usually also good a remembering passwords.

this is true, as i don't remember the password of my first core wallet, tried recovering but of no use and i left that, this is the most common mistake ,people starting out in core wallet usually have these issues.
yes this is your own mistake. We can call this as human mistakes. Sometimes the software can be hacked. But sure, it is impossible to hack your bitcoin from your wallet.

We need some clarification here, what do you mean by it is impossible to hack bitcoins from a wallet,is it kept inside Fort Knox or what  Grin. if u can access your wallets from your computer and if your computer is infected ,yes you can loose your bitcoins from your wallet and we call that a hack   Cool

I think what he is saying is that it is nearly impossible to brute-force your way into someone's wallet and steal their funds, and it requires a computer to be infected with a virus before you can "easily" hack someone's wallet.

Its impossible to use brute force to hack your btc account or wallet because every wallet is secured by 2fa. The best way to hack wallet accounts is using phising sites and stole gmail password. By that you can enter on victims transaction. Wallet account and 2fa is can be bypass.

Bullshit. How long a brute force attack needs to succeed depends on what you attack and the strength of the password.

False. This has no relevance.

B. You have tied personal info with it.
No relevance.

No it is not possible unless someone has access to your bitcoin wallet through your login they are unable to hack/steal any bitcoin from wallet. If it was possible then no one would you have to see here for adopting bitcoin.
Hacks and theft are very much real. Have you been living under a rock?

Exactly. Also waiting out two days is definitely not "hell of a patience". One could always use a website such as this one to test their password (keep in mind that you should use a similar one, don't enter the actual one). I'm at 869 Vigintillion years.

Someone could in theory generate/guess your personal private key, use it, and open your wallet from anywhere in the world. However, the chance of this happening is extremely rare, and is only theoretical. AFAIK, it has never been achieved before.

In order of your Bitcoins to be 'hacked' out of your account the perpetrator needs your unencrypted private keys. Now if you have a copy of them lying around on your HDD or you have a weak password to your online wallet theoretically your funds can be compromised. You can remedy this situation by strengthening your passwords by using a password manager and not holding a copy of your private keys or mnemonic string on your computer.

very possible. many cases in this forum when it used to be, some people wallet hacked.
some examples because, installing the application exe strange(usually wallet altcoins) and also there are some scammers commonly spread when used. but for now I think the forum is already tight.

there is a very simple solution to that which has been suggested many times already and that is using a proper Cold Storage.
practically you are cutting the connection between the hacker and your important information (private keys, passwords, ....) by keeping everything offline and away from any internet or network connections.

therefore if you do not want your bitcoin stolen by someone then you are required to provide 2FA on your wallet dude.
so that they will not be able to get into your wallet. although they have the password
if you do not have 2fa the possibility to hack always there

I think the best solution and the greatest security you could have is migrating your stash to a cold wallet and setting up a smallish hot wallet for your daily spending. There was one guy that kept his private keys uploaded to his OneDrive cloud storage and allegedly the hacker had gained access to his email account and managed to empty out his wallet just because of one weak link that was his email password. I can't remember his name but I think he had a Bitcoin business or something like an exchange website. Anyway my point is that having strong and unique passwords is paramount and your email account is the key to your digital life. So if you don't want to use a cold wallet then at least get a password manager like LastPass or Dashlane and update all your passwords again.

I second that motion. Actually if the users are not careful of entering other websites or even hiding it somewhere else. It can easily hack by the other users. There's a lot of thing to do on how to hacked your accounts / wallet address. We should aware of that.
Users do the same with bank accounts, and they have much more money in there to be stolen. But banks force people to use security measures, bitcoin has the freedom to use no security if you want.

How about the owner of the wallets.(wallet company) is it possible to check your balance your account details etc..
coz you sign up and create your passcode etc.. and put some bitcoins to your wallets.

1 more reason to get your bitcoins is they will get or  hack your passcode to your wallet so be careful about your passcode to your wallets.

There's a lot of reason to hack your bitcoin but there's a few reason to protect your bitcoins. hmm correct me if I'm wrong. Wink

If your computer safe from virus/malware/keylogger it's hard to steal your bitcoin from your wallet and a high proportion of malware is delivered via clickable links in spam which is crafted to look like it came from your bank, or wherever you trust  when you post your email address on web pages for a business then you are inviting spammers to harvest that address and then hammer it with junkmail.

Oh maybe you are a good hacker or a creator of that kind of application so you can make it fast.
That is my experience to the bruteforce that I got and it is an android application.
Maybe that app is the BULLSHIT! but not me.

Oh! and I am sorry I am not a hacker.
