You would have to define your question better in order to get a better answer. Technically, Bitcoin can't be currently hacked. However, what can happen (and usually happens) is that the hacker infiltrates your system by various means and then either waits for your password (if encrypted) or just sends them to another wallet. This isn't a problem that is caused by any 'Bitcoin flaws'.

Sure, if you use an outdated and vulnerable system that is reachable from the internet. If so, its probably already part of a bot network and adding a key logger would be a simple task once its clear that you have a bitcoin wallet. The next time you enter your password, your coins would be gone. The keylogger is not even needed if you have a weak password.

I think that's not true, because if we use wallet stricken by malware (keylogger) surely they can easily into our wallets and take all the existing funds in the wallet. Because malware (keylogger) is widely used for something negative. For example my Blockhain wallet, once exposed to hack and they do backup all my Bitcoin addres to the wallet, but they haven't had time to take my Bitcoin.

Believe it or not, those malware exist, basically the malware will change the address whenever it detect that we are copying someone's address
When that happen the virus will alter your clipboard and change it to his address
That's why you need to always double check and make sure the address is right and not being altered by any mean
I got this virus once and luckily I checked the address first

It's possible to hack anything the only questions are how difficult it is and how much time it would take to do it.  Make it too difficult or take too much time to be worth the effort and it most likely wont get hacked.  Best solution is to keep the bulk in cold storage off the internet.

Yeah, wallets can be hacked. It is the users responsibility to protect their login credentials and their keys. This can happen to anything online.  But as far as I know, the bitcoin system itself is still unhackable.

yes, in fact someone broke my pass on gmail, and i can assure you that it was a strong password with plenty of different characters and upper case etc, i'm lucky that i have the 2fa

That hacker sees you got good background that is why he did it even if it takes too much time. Brute force takes like a day or two before gettig a password. That is a hell of a patience for that asshead hacker.

I think the best solution and the greatest security you could have is migrating your stash to a cold wallet and setting up a smallish hot wallet for your daily spending. There was one guy that kept his private keys uploaded to his OneDrive cloud storage and allegedly the hacker had gained access to his email account and managed to empty out his wallet just because of one weak link that was his email password. I can't remember his name but I think he had a Bitcoin business or something like an exchange website. Anyway my point is that having strong and unique passwords is paramount and your email account is the key to your digital life. So if you don't want to use a cold wallet then at least get a password manager like LastPass or Dashlane and update all your passwords again.

I think that would be a keylogger code. That is why I am also careful in some computer renting shops. You dont know what applications are hidden in that computer and rental shops like here in our place limits your access so it will really give you a hard time.

The chances that your desktop gets hacked in comparison to a web wallet are much lower. You would have to either: 1) Attract attention somehow; 2) Do something dumb, e.g. click on suspicious link.

I would like to suggest not downloading any shady pirated software because I have seen news where people got their coins stolen after downloading cracked games etc. The thieves can add scripts so that after running the exe.file you system will be scanned for any wallet.data files and your stash will be silently wiped away while you are messing around with the fake pirated  software. first of all I want to add that this is a very good way of securing your coins while still having access to them but you have to add one step and that is storing the seed in a separate place because USB disks like any other thing are subject to problems like breaking down or just an error like bad sector.

Yeah thats true if your computer is not protect by any updated anti virus so beware in any website that you need to download or sometimes i experience force install from one website that has full of malware virus .. so if you are just holding more bitcoin in your desktop wallet make sure you have installed latest updated anti virus.. i can suggest to you to use kaspersky very active anti virus and very useful anti virus.. it can help also for most computer if your os is infected and it cant recover in any ordinary anti virus.. kaspersky is the only the best for me to recover and protect my computer of any virus online.. but kaspersky  license is expensive but you can find free trial license from online...

Alternative are wallets with 0 hack histories so far , Electrum is one of them and is lightweight also. I think the best thing you can do is to actually have a new PC and ONLY use it for Bitcoin transactions. You can find one even at $100-$200, you don't need a super fast one but a simple, small and portable netbook that can run a browser on it. Yes hacking wallet or exchange is not a difficult task in some cases but hacking the bitcoin network is near to impossible (it will need hell of mining power share) thus we are vulnerable mostly on our individual level (by phishing, social engineering etc) and then on community level by losing all the funds due to exchange hack. having a good anti-virus isn't enough if you are not responsibly and carefully using your pc/laptop or any device and you tend to download unknown files from unknown and Untrusted websites then you are still on the risk. anti-viruses are not the same they are not actually the same when it comes to that certain feature where they will give you a notice when you are downloading a file that might be unsafe. we should beware on downloading files from the internet as we wouldn't know if it is safe or it will bring a harm to our computer system and will be access some of our accounts.

If you want to be sure, install the wallet first in your PC right after you have formatted it. Then add a strong and complex password like 32-65 characters which contains no dictionary words but only something that has meaning for you only, special characters help a lot too.

Except for keyloggers and other spywares, Bitcoin hacking is impossible for now (or nobody found a way to do it yet). If you do not have the wallet ID and password(s), unfortunately that amount is lost forever. Do you remember the e-mail you used for creating that wallet? Or just any other detail? I don't know if you have seen but last months i have seen that many people were infected by a virus or malware which when people wanted to make a transaction the pasted address was always the hackers address so people were sending accidentally money to the hacker.

I always check the few first and last digits or letters of an address before I send any bitcoin to it because it's almost impossible for the automated address generating system to generate addresses in matter of seconds that looks like your own address.
And  for the OP I must say that of course it's possible to hack your own wallet but who do you think will compensate the stolen funds?

The stolen funds can easily be laundered if one uses it, just by simply using it in gambling sites like sports betting then hedge on the other sites then everything is clean now.

I didnt hear some new too related to online wallets that is being bruteforced to hack and stole of the bitcoin inside it but the incidents of being robbed because of virus and phishing link then i would really believe because if someone would able to know the important informations regarding on your wallet then the risk of being robbed is high.

In the online wallets even its preview says its secure. It is possible also to hack your bitcoin wallets and the only developers of the wallet you stored bitcoin can open your account so now you know who could hack you. The cold wallets also has to be hack, although the developers could not do that but I don't know who.

In my wallet?I could say they would really have a hard time to hack my wallet its on either on web wallet or hardware wallet because I do set it up 2fa passwords and kept all the important informations like private keys on a secure place in no one even know but only me. Must you be living inside the cave for centuries didn't you? as for example, the recent hack has happened to bitfinex and loses about millions of dollar, and it's just one of many which is fortunately leaked in the media.
Just imagine if some bitcoin users don't really care about the security of their wallet and ended up targeted by hackers and finally getting hacked, there might be so many people out there who have been hacked but didn't publish it into media.

Any computer on a network with Internet access is hackable and so if you're careless enough to leave your private keys on a public computer or an unprotected computer then you're at risk and you can be hacked in no time and of course funds can be transferred between wallets.

The computer will be hackable if you accidentally downloaded other hacking software or if your computer infected by a virus that gets data in your computer so if your computer is infected and you login your details or save your wallet in your computer it is posible to get hacked by hackers.

Bitcoins are digital cash.  And cash can be stolen.  So, whoever has the secret key for a bitcoin address can send the bitcoins wherever they want.
If anyone gets your private key and user key in any way then your bitcoins can be easily stolen from your address. That is why it is not really impossible.

To be able to make bitcoin being a secured thing then make a way to have it unaccessible in the world of WWW (World Wide Web). Basically a wallet that is not a web one. Different hackers have different way in hacking a certain thing especially when they are serious in doing something illegal to a certain target. That password thing is not an assurance that people are safe to hackers if they have it.

If one can manage to hack the wallet of exchange or wallet service provider then the hacker won't need your password because you have already granted permissions to manage your bitcoins and private keys on your behalf to that service provider. Password for online wallets is just for your access to the account, exchanges or wallet service providers already have your private keys.

Nowadays hacking bitcoin in wallet without password is possible especially there are so many hacking tools out there but if you're using hardware wallet that would be another thing I think they will have a hard time to hack your wallet.

For this very reason if your serious about your bitcoin security you should have a separate system for bitcoin alone.
Kept offline unless syncing wallet or sending fund. Not used for "general" browsing or downloading.

There is also a script written in python that can bruteforce attempt seed combinations.
I have tested it with electrum and managed to crack a wallet seed in around 14 days.

If a person does any transfer of money with his account , that term is called TRANSACTION .
But when i saw that you were a Newbie , i understood that answering this was a waste of time .

Some wallets ask for re confirmation , like the pin no. or something . So he cant transfer unless he knows that pin.

I wouldn't conclusively say it isn't possible because there was some kind of hack/bug issues in 2010 when a single person generated about 184 million bitcoins but the actual block reward then was 50 bitcoins; the issue was solved after 5 hours though but even with that in mind I don't think your wallet is immune to cyber attacks.

This is true,hacker would really waste of his time on hacking a particular target specially if that target set up the most important security on his wallet.Bypassing and bruteforcing it would really time consuming or useless at all. People are always concerned about security of the code, of wallets, blockchain and I don't know what else, but the weakest point is ALWAYS human.

Even if you are the only one who knows your password and security pin and even if you dont disclose your information the hackers may still get into your wallet. Hackers uses viruses that enters your computers then it collects information from any login information that you have done. After which they will use that information to get your bitcoins out of your wallet. Aside from that even how solid your firewall is if you have stored a huge volumes of bitcoin into it hackers will try to get your bitcoin in a more complicated way. I have read some comments that bitcoin wallet can not be hack because of the strong security feature and probably system administrators are maintaining it for hackers to crack the codes but a lot are trying to say that the system are not 100% and has a hole that hackers are tying to take their opportunity towards it, and online wallets have many flaws that skilled hackers can navigate and be fish in no time, and in my opinion that definitely online wallets are not 100% safe and has flaws to it's system cause I have expirience this kind of attack that hackers did their best in invading the system that I can't believe they can truly hack through it.

I had read so many posts before about the people who were a victim from bitcoin hacking. Maybe they had clicked some phishing site that's why their wallet got hacked. They are not careful on which link to click. There are many scammers nowadays so be careful on clicking email addresses and URL's.
