There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Coinitrage.com Arbitrage Firm now accepts NVC!

Live chat support is now available on-site to NVC users, or forum support is also available on our BitcoinTalk ANN: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1725963.0

Please note that while we offer services with NVC, we are not directly affiliated with the developers of the coin. Please read our Terms of Service before using the Coinitrage Arbitrage Platform!

Guys, THIS IS A SCAM, do not use!! You have been warned, cheap HYIP scam.

Please could you explain why you think this coin is a scam, it seems to have been traded since 2013 and is still being traded which presumably means it is legitimate no ?

Hi to community. Please, help me with two questions:
1. Is there any way to automatically unlock the wallet (windows) for minting? Looked through the help about commandline options, but didn't find anything suitable..
2. What is minimum of NVC should be on the ballance to mint?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Sorry for errors in English - it's not my native language...

Hi Shivoreum,

There is no way of automatically unlocking the wallet, because unlocking naturally requires you to enter your password. The only way to avoid this would be to not set a password at all.
Generally, minting takes its time, and I would advise to have a low-energy-consumption desktop or old laptop run 24/7. It's also more secure. If you mint on the PC that you use for other purposes, it will make you tired to open and unlock the Novacoin client everyday.
Believe me, its worth it.
Personally, I am using an Intel Atom with Linux to mint Novacoin and two other cryptocurrencies 24/7, while running also a Bitcoin full node.

There is no minimum of NVC required to mint, but small outputs will take a long time to mint. I would advise to have outputs of between 50-100 NVC. Greater outputs would mint faster, but they could hit the fixed 10 NVC reward ceiling before minting, so you would miss out on some reward.
Also, note that an output will not mint during the first 30 days. It will reach its maximum probability after 120 days.
This table should help you:

https://www.novaco.in/posprob.php?pos_diff=5.888&amount=100.00&days=120

I hope this helps.

It can mint either if you do not set a password or if you set a password, but unlock the wallet.
This is because the wallet needs to be able to access your private keys to mint, like for sending a transaction.

If it mints, the minting icon on bottom right will be coloured. If the icon is grey, it does not mint. The mouseover will tell you why it is not minting.

This message doesn't affect mining anyhow. It looks like your client was out of sync for some time... Could you provide client version string?

@ewibit

try one of this
-rescan                Rescan the block chain for missing wallet transactions
-zapwallettxes         Clear list of wallet transactions (diagnostic tool; implies -rescan)

./novacoin-qt -rescan

I'd try -zapwallettxes option, this should be enough to clear all orphans from the wallet.
